Chapter 1- BLIND DATE

~MARGARET~

“Margaret please! Please! Please!”

“NO! I have told you a million times before and it’s a big N-O!”

“Margaret c’mon it’s been like what? A year that we fly off from that big city, and I can see that you need some company so can you please date this guy for me? I’m not feeling good and I don’t want the dude to wait for nothing that’s rude you know.”

I just rolled my eyes and told her “Whatever Elli!”

“So, you agreed to it now?”

“Hhhhhmmm! Let me think… NNOOOOO!!!”

She felt defeated and run towards the toilet.

If you are all wondering who I was talking to, it’s my one of the not so good best friend Eliana Taylor. Why not so good? Well, ever since we flew from the big city first thing that she did was to install a dating app on my phone and kept on pestering me about going on dates. I’m not against it or anything or if I have any other valid reason or whatsoever, it’s just that I don’t really like it.

“MARGARET!!! PLLLEEEAASSSEEE!” as she screams through the toilet.

“NO!” I told her and laughed very hard on her situation, what can I do, I am such a good best friend that just laughed at her. If you were also wondering why she’s in the toilet, well let’s just say that she found out yesterday that she was lactose intolerant and during lunch she kept on eating anything dairy that I kept on telling her not too, and there she goes in and out in the toilet. Poor thing but nope! Sorry not sorry! Still keeps on laughing.

“Margaret please!!! Just this once and that’s it! I will not let you go on a blind date ever. Urgh! My belly.” As she walks out from the toilet walking towards me holding her belly. I really hold on to my laughter as I saw her and started being serious about this whole blind date thing.

“Elli, I told you, I don’t like blind dates okay?”

She just rolled her eyes at me and slump herself on the couch. Even though we’re about meter away I could still hear what she said. “I know the reason why you don’t go out on dates, you are still hoping that one day he would---“

I didn’t let her finish her statement and just snapped at her immediately. “NO! That’s not the reason okay Eliana!!??? I just wanted to have a life that is stress free no other people to think about”

“Hey there horsey! Why are you so mad all of a sudden? I’m just stating something and you just snap!” I gave her a questioning look with my right brows arched. “Margaret we’ve been friends since like forever, we even got a matching bracelet that says bff and I know by the looks on those flaring nostrils that you are mad”. I suddenly hold my nose and sent her a death glare and she laughed very hard that her belly ache was back again. I scoot next to her picked up the remote and turned the TV on, we were in deep silence for a minute then she started to talk.

“Margaret” with her soft tone voice, “I’m asking you a favor for the sake of the poor guys’ soul that is probably waiting now at the restaurant. Just this once okay? Go on with the date and maybe it will make you realize something.” I didn’t reply back and I just locked my eyes on the TV screen. I comprehended the words that Elli was saying maybe she is right, maybe this date will be the first step for me to do something better, and she was right again saying that it’s been a year already. Should I go for it? Maybe this date will open my eyes and see the old me again before that moment arrived. I was never been the Margaret that was boring and just to lounge at the living room or locked herself in her own room. I was the free spirited, bubbly, and optimistic person and that whole accident changed me a lot. I become the opposite of what I used to be. I can still remember the little argument me and Elli did when we arrive here.

“Say what!” she said. You want me to call you Margaret rather than Garry? Since when did you use your real name and why is it that I am feeling that this flying out with you would be boring? I don’t like to call you Margaret! And I don’t like her personality! Return me my Garry back! She is more fun than Margaret!!”

I just smiled at the memories that flashed back into my mind, the day that we fly out from the big city and living with Elli. Those days that keeps my heart aching all the time. I really thank my parents and Elli for this they helped me from all the dramas that happened into my life.

“Margaret?” with a concerned look on her face. “You are creeping me out girl, there’s nothing funny on that ad that we just saw on the TV and you just smiled in there.” She then backed a little bit far as if that I become mental all of a sudden. I shook my head then told her “I just remembered the day that I arrive on my parents place and you came rushing in there like as if you want to rip his face off!” I giggled a bit. “Well, my best friend needs me and I really want to rip him off for hurting you, he promised me Margaret that he will take good care of you even to your parents and then...” She didn’t finish her sentence and just slumps her back on the couch. We became silent for a moment until she turned to me and asked me in her serious tone. “What now Margaret?” With a curious look I looked at her and said “Like what Elli?” She rolled her eyes at me “about the blind date, don’t play dumb Margaret I know you are not dumb” I put my hands in surrender and said “Okay fine! I will go on this blind date just to save your humiliation and the poor guy’s soul” She beamed at me with delight and before I knew it she dragged me straight into her room for a make-over.

“All done!” she said as she put a lip gloss on my lips. “You reckon this isn’t too much?” I asked her. She shakes her head saying No and before I was about to say something she remove herself from the vanity and I saw my reflection at the mirror. My eyes narrowed and I just can’t take my eyes of myself. My hair was in a high ponytail and she made my make-up looked natural, she even chose the dress for me it’s a high sundress without sleeves and it’s a pink colour. I shook my head and just realize that it was a long time ago that I wore a dress again. Elli was at my back and hugging me saying “Oh how I miss this Margaret, how I miss seeing you like this, and calling you GARRY! Margaret is such a mouth full you know” I giggle a bit and told her “Me too Elli, me too”.

As we head out to her room and make my way outside to my car because it’s almost time for the ‘date’ she screamed at the top of her lungs and run towards me as if that there’s a murderer behind her. I looked at her concern then she smiled at me and said “I forgot to tell you something, your, I mean my supposedly date I gave him a little bit of instructions, I told him that he should wear a blue polo shirt and you” she then took out something from her hand and wrapped it around my ponytail. “A Pink ribbon” I rolled my eyes at her thinking my best friend is such a cliché person. I smiled at her and before I head into my car I just realized something “Is your belly alright now? Seems like you are fine?” I lift one brow upon asking her and unsuspected she grab her belly and said “Ouch! It still hurting” I sighed in defeat and realized that this was all a set-up oh well what can I do I’m already ready and I don’t want to waste Eliana’s fabulous creation on my face. “Okay then I better go now, see yah Elli when I get back” She waved at me and said “Go get him tiger!” On my way to my car I smiled at her statement, I sat on my car took a deep breath and look at myself in the mirror again and telling myself that I can do this and maybe it’s a sign to start moving forward and leave everything behind already. Right there and then I started my car and went exactly to the address of the restaurant that Elli messaged.
