James spent the night thinking things through. It was near impossible for him to deny his life had once again changed. He had told his brother Charlie wanted only to live. She was twenty-eight and deserved better. He made a phone call when they got home from lunch. Anxiety kept him from getting any sleep.
It was a big day. Wendy and Joan were taking Charlie to her first chemotherapy treatment. Charlie still wanted him there. He promised he would be there in time, right after his appointment.
