It was two weeks after Wendy and Joan headed back to Minnesota—Joan promising she would be back as soon as she got things situated with work—Charlie drove to the hospital to meet with Dr. Benji while James was working at Second Breakfast.
They met in his office after some additional tests were run. The first and second rounds of chemo treatments had knocked her on her ass. There was no denying that.
