Austin couldn’t make it again today. Said she had some important stuffs to deal with. Her apologies.” She said smiling, as if she was remembering some funny memories.
“Okay, it’s no problem.” I said and sipped my drink. No problem? I was disappointed. If that was the word. I mean, I was not supposed to be, but then, I realized that I had so much wanted to meet him or her, because he or she really impressed me. Wait, 'she'?
“Alright, let’s get into work” she said, like she was calling me back.
“Okay, so I’ll get the already drafted contract, you should just take a look it and sign it if there’s no problem.” I said, my aura not relaxing a bit.
“Sure.”
I signaled to the guard at the door, and he understood.
About a minute later, Daye was here with the contract and it seemed like he was rushed, because he was panting.
“Master” he said and I nodded in response.
He looked at the lady in front of me in question. He gave me that dazed look he always gave me when he meets pretty lady. Infact, a lady.
She gave him a sharp look and that definitely worked.
“Miss Jacobs. Austin’s assistant.” I helped him, trying very hard to stifle my laughter.
His mouth rounded in an o shape, and he composed himself.
“Miss Jacobs.” He said, with a polite bow.
She nodded in acknowledgment and gave him a smile.
His princely heart had already soared to Africa and almost became a happy king, but then it was not time to be a love-struck kitten.
“The contract.” Sorrily but not sorrily, I had to break his delusion.
He threw a sad look my way and drew the blue file out of his suitcase.
I looked away, and took the file from him abruptly, placing it in front of Miss Jacobs.
She opened it and glanced through it, nodding her head interminently, as if approving the content of the contract.
At last, she looked up and smiled.
“This is okay, Mr Shaw.”
“Nice.”
“If there is no problem, then Miss Jacobs can sign the contract on behalf of Austin, right?”
“Sure!”
I looked at Daye, gesturing him to get her a pen. This love-struck fool was already smitten, and there was no redemption.
“Can I get a pen, please?” she asked, directing her gaze to Daye.
That was an utter mistake, as Daye was blown away. It seemed like that was the first time that she gave him a look the whole meeting, and he was overjoyed.
“A pen?!” she repeated.
“Oh sure-” Daye stuttered and stretched a pen towards her.
I facepalmed as she took the pen and signed it. I had to admit, her slender hands were blessed with beautiful handwriting.
She signed and gave the pen back to Daye, who was probably in wonderland already, dreaming of possible ways to win his crush over, which 99 percent of his choices were almost impossible.
“We look forward to working with you, Mr Shaw” She stretched her hand and I took it.
“Same here, miss Jacobs.”
I dropped her hand and glanced at her before turning to Daye.
It seemed as if she was considering whether to shake hands with my cringe assistant or not.
He didn’t give her much time to think, because he stretched his hands also for a handshake.
She took his hands, and shook it lightly.
Meanwhile, my beloved assistant dared not let her hands go. She tried to wriggle her hand out of his bigger one but he was not letting go. She had to give me a begging glance, which screamed “help!”.
I chuckled as I slightly hit Daye, bringing him back to reality.
“Ohh” he said and dropped her hands abruptly.
She packed her bag and left briskly.
Soon, I was left with my smitten assistant who was gazing at the door, dazedly.
“Hey!” he said, immediately he got his head back.
“Spare me all that talk.” I said, knowing him too well. He was about to pour out an epistle on how she was an angel and how he was going to chase her.
He pouted and rolled his eyes, visibly disappointed.
“Next up?”
“Your blind date”
“You can go” I said, slamming the blue file at him, irritatedly.
“But-”
Beep beep.
My phone rang.
