Chapter 1: late for dinner
"you arrived home late today, I was hoping we could have dinner together," Caleb said to Stephanie as he entered their apartment. She looked up from her work on the couch, her eyes narrowed and her arms crossed over her chest.
"I was at a meeting and did you hear me when I said that I didn't want to?" Stephanie retorted back.
Caleb sighed before sitting down next to Stephanie who kept her glare trained on him. "I totally understand that meetings could be stressful, but you'll eventually get used to them," Caleb said to her, trying to avoid the subject.
"The new CEO of Spacecraft Inc." Stephanie replied, her arms still crossed over her chest.
"And what did they say about you being the first female ? How was it? What did you guys talk about?" Caleb questioned.
"Nothing much, we talked about my plans for the company after I graduated college, but they wanted to meet me before that because the company needs someone to oversee it," Stephanie answered, she paused for a moment and then continued, "I was going to decline them, though..."
"So, you' re not interested in the company?" Caleb asked with an eyebrow raised.
"Not really, it sounds boring, but maybe if something interesting happens, I can consider giving it a shot, or at least trying to be friends with the people in charge." Stephanie replied, looking away from Caleb as she spoke.
"You know, there are other ways to pursue your interest," Caleb commented and Stephanie gave a look at him, "Like... dating?" He suggested and she scoffed at his suggestion.
"No thanks, I'm good here," she responded simply and Caleb nodded his head.
"You have never been interested in relationships, I really think you should stop being too hard on yourself," Caleb pointed out.
"Why don't you try talking to those people, maybe you'd like to take a stab in the dark at what they think about you," Caleb suggested and Stephanie scoffed again.
"I wouldn't even know where to begin," Stephanie responded as she rolled her eyes. "Besides, they're all rich assholes anyway, how am I supposed to be able to make connections when no one will give me any?" Stephanie asked.
Caleb thought for a moment and shrugged. "I totally understand, but I do not think that all rich guys are assholes," he finally responded and Stephanie glared at him again.
"Moreover who said you could date only rich guys?"
Caleb sighed, "Look, just think about it, okay?"
He walked over to her and kissed her cheek before heading for his room. "Don't stay up late tonight, you need to get some rest," he called back to Stephanie.
"Fine dad!" Stephanie shouted back, causing Caleb to laugh.

Being a CEO was not exactly what Stephanie had imagined, it was stressful. So many meetings and paper work awaited her to be done, it was just her second day and Stephanie was already stressed.
Her father, Caleb Murray was always there, helping her when he could, but he didn't have much time with his own work, he was still looking after the other companies.
"You okay?" Stephanie heard someone ask, turning around to look at them. It was one of the engineers that worked on the project.
"I'm fine, you?" She said back as the engineer gave her a worried look, like he wanted to help her but knew he couldn't.
Stephanie turned away again so he wouldn't see her crying. She didn't want anyone to know, it' s embarrassing enough that she got this position. And now some random guy from the IT department wants to help her.
It wasn't fair!
She looked up to see that the engineer was gone, probably trying to make his way back to his work. As a CEO, you need to take care of yourself first before everything else, Stephanie thought to herself, she took deep breaths and rubbed her eyes. When she was done doing that, she grabbed her bag and got ready to leave, she had somewhere important she had to be.
It was going to be a long day.

Closing the door behind her, Stephanie let out a big sigh.
As a CEO, you really do have more important things to worry about than anything else, right? Not only would this job take up most of her time, she' s starting to doubt if it's even worth it. But then again, she had no idea what to do, how to do what she does, and she didn't even want to think about what will happen in case something went wrong. So what choice did she have, huh? She didn't know what she was going to do until tomorrow. All she knows was that once she gets home, she can finally relax.
But who was she kidding? Nothing good ever happens when you try relaxing.
She sighed as she walked slowly through the reception of the building, heading for the exit. Every second she spent being the CEO of Spacecraft cooperation’s, the more she respected her dad, Caleb Murray.
He had been doing a superb job managing so many companies all these years, she wanted to prove to her dad that ladies could handle equal pressure as men in the cooperate world. Stephanie was also doing a good job these past few days, but there was no denying that she was stressed.
She pulled out her phone from her bag and called her driver. He was a nice person, he usually asked if he could talk to her, since he knew what she needed. The ride was short, though it felt forever. Stephanie sighed as she stood outside of her house, she quickly took off her heels, walked inside and made her way towards her bedroom.
After taking a shower, she changed into some loose clothes and laid down in bed. Before she drifted off, she stared at the ceiling for a few seconds before shutting her eyes. Tomorrow was going to be one hell of a day.
