23 As soon as Yarrow had departed and they had endured the last of the information on frogs, Sasha and Jayhan finally had half an hour on their own before dinner. Jayhan came straight to the point. “So, come on. What were you worried about before? You were happy again this afternoon, but something was wrong at lunchtime.” Sasha sighed. She glanced at him then looked away. “I’m… I suppose I’m frightened. I’ve always thought about going into Kimora, rescuing shamans, and becoming queen as a sort of horror fantasy. Far in the future and not really going to happen.” “But you told Mum you wanted to fight them.” Sasha scrunched up her face. “I do but… I don’t. At least, not yet. I just want those intruders to stop coming and to stay here with you and Beth and Clive and Sheldrake and Maud.”
