Soon afterwards, several laden trays were brought up and placed on the dining table in the next room. Jon’s suites included a sitting room, which was where Cassie reposed on the sofa, a dining room with sufficient seating for eight people off to the left, while the bedroom and a private privy and bathing room could be accessed off to the right of the sitting room. Doors opened from the corridor into both the dining room and the sitting room.
Cassie, who was beginning to feel better, watched with round eyes as the trays, carried by uniformed footmen and maids, were placed on the dining room table which, although in the next room, was within her line of sight. Jon, who hadn’t left her side, smiled at her expression.
“Hungry?” he asked.
“Yeah. Starving.” She dragged her eyes away from
