LEO Blake and Maverick took a singular trip to the movies with all the popcorn and candy they wanted and the promise of ice cream afterward before they forgave. Princess Matilda was a harder sell. Sadie told me her favorite place in the pack was the lake, so Sunday morning, my girl and I had a special breakfast on the lake without her brothers. When she finally dropped her guard, she cried and hugged me. She wouldn’t let go until we returned to the packhouse, where my parents were waiting for us. Where my mom was crying, and my dad was scowling.
