As Ava lent against Steele, her hands wrapped around her mug of coffee when she suddenly froze, the mug falling from her grasp and smashing on the ground. Everyone turned to look at Ava. Steele grabbed a hold of her and spun her around to face him, his hands on her arms. “Ava” he growled out, but she was stood frozen, her eyes glassed over, she wasn’t responding to his calls, not matter how much Steele shook her. Steele held onto her for five minutes. Five minutes of no response, everyone waited in anticipation, Steele was going to call for Drew when he felt a hand on his cheek. He snaps his head back to Ava who was smiling at him with unshed tears “They’re okay” she whispers out. Steele sighs relaxing slightly when she spoke. Her arms move from Steele’s vice grip and wrap around his neck, “We need to get them, they’re going to kill them” she speaks lowly so the children didn’t hear. Though her father didn’t say such things, she knew from the emotions he was trying to hide. They were okay right now, but it wouldn’t be long until Morris killed them so he could get rid of this whole situation. Ava wiped the tears from her face and let go of Steele, she walked to the table and took Rose, Leo willingly let her go. Taking Nathan’s hand, she squeezes it. “Your mom and dad are okay; they know your safe with me”. Nathan looked at her “How?” he questions. “I linked my father, they’re okay and I’m going to do everything I can to get them back okay” Ava spoke. Nathan knew Ava wouldn’t lie to him and nodded his head in appreciation. She gave Rose one final squeeze and then handed her back to Leo. Turning around she face’s Steele “We plan an attack and we take out the high council, no one is to be left. They’ve ruled for far too long”. Steele felt the power radiate off his mate and the determination on her face. Steele moved towards the office, Ava following behind. When they enter the room, she speaks. “We need Flynn, Leo and anyone you seriously trust. This is going to be a long process and our first attack is taking back the Snow Stone Pack, they have soldiers posted waiting for my return” Ava says. Steele shakes his head “We go straight to the core”. This time Ava shakes her head “We need allies, and the Snow Stone and Night Star Pack especially have warriors who will join us in the fight, my pack have the best fighters in the world”. Steele knew what Ava said was true, he had never been to the high council grounds and Ava has, if they had any chance of removing the high council from power permanently then he needed to step back and let Ava have her say. Within half an hour, Steele had his seven scouts and Flynn with the five guys she had met at lunch in the office. Ava left for a second, then returned with Rose in her arms and Nathan trailing warily behind. “They aren’t allowed in here” Steele says. Ava shrugs her shoulders “Nathan knows the Snow Stone better than anyone here and Rose isn’t being left alone” she says. Putting Nathan next to Leo, Rose reached out for her brother then saw Leo and hesitated. Leo held his hands out to invite Rose to sit with him and he gestured towards him. “Since when did you deal with kids” Lewis, one of the scouts asked. Leo shook his head “I don’t deal with kids, just this one” he spoke softly looking down at Rose with loving eyes. All the guys looked at him with curiosity, but Ava gathered everyone’s attention away from that subject. Everyone put in their two cents as they came up with ideas on how to get into the Snow Stone Pack. Nathan was a big help; he knew every inch of the pack lands and where the weakest spots are in the territory border. The only one who didn’t say anything was Steele, he remained silent the entire time. A few times Ava turned to ask him something but the look on his face told him not to ask. Four hours later, a plan was set for getting into the Snow Stone Pack, the Night Star Pack was for Ava to deal with alone. Leo took Nathan and Rose to the living room to watch a movie, Flynn left with the warriors and Scouts to train. If they were going to start a war, they needed to be prepared every way possible. Ava sighed and ran her hands over her face in frustration. If she had the opportunity to do this alone and not have anyone hurt, she would. But the High Council weren’t the kind of people you go against, they’ve had centuries to master their power and fear and Ava was suddenly taking it on to tear it down. Steele was still silent, and it was killing Ava, she wanted to know what he was thinking. “Anything to add to the now ended meeting?” she asked. Steele looked at Ava who was looking at him. She stood on the other side of the room, he remained silent. Shaking her head, Ava turned to leave. Steele shot out of his seat and grabbed Ava slamming the door closed before she got it a foot open. Ava tensed. Steele ran his nose across Ava’s shoulder and up her neck, right across the area he would mark her when they mated. “I should mark you, with all these unmated wolves about” he spoke in a hushed tone. Ava freaked and spun around, placing her hands on his chest she made sure he kept his distance “No” she says to him. Steele’s eyes darken, he didn’t want him to mark her. “It’s that kid isn’t it, the one who rejected you” Steele growled, lifting his hand he curled his fingers and drove his fist into the door by Ava’s head. The door splintered but Ava didn’t flinch, she knew he wouldn’t hurt her. Ava smiled, amused by the fact that he was jealous, “As attractive as it is that your jealous, that isn’t the reason, well partly” she said. Steele’s eyes begin to darken, Tiberius was pushing for control “If you mark me, I could lose all connection I have with my pack and my father, just because I’m a Lycan doesn’t mean I come with all these abilities. And I can’t hurt Kyle” she finishes. Steele growls again. “You’re testing my patient’s mate” his wolf had taken over. “Tiberius it’s nothing like that, I never rejected him, if we mark one another he will die” she told him. Tiberius snarled, “Good”. Ava shook her head, “As much as I hate the guy, I couldn’t be the reason behind his death, I wouldn’t be able to look his parents, my summer family in the eye and pretend I didn’t care”. Ava rubs her hands on his chest to soothe him, it worked “Now let me have Steele back please” she asks. Tiberius huffs but does as she asked. His black eyes go back to his steel grey eyes and Ava smiles. “Feel better yet?” she asks, still amused by the jealousy burning on his face. Steele scowls “You are mine” he says and then yanks the door open and storms off. Ava chuckles, “Well when you put it like that” she mutters. She went to leave but then realised she needed to talk to her father about the plan. Sitting in the Steele’s chair she gets comfortable Dad she calls out. It was silent for all of three seconds until his voice echoes through her mind. She smiles. Is everyone okay still? She needed to know they were okay, even if she did only check in early this morning. Everyone is okay, but Morris is threatening to start hurting Jake by the morning he informs her, Samuel didn’t want to tell his daughter, but there was nothing he could do. She was the only option. Shit. Okay, were on it, a plan has been made, were going to take the Snow Stone Pack and then the Night Star Ava explains. Ava are you sure this is what you want to do, once you start this war, you can’t go back. everything will change Samuel says. Ava sighed I’ve already started the war, besides everything needs to change, we can’t keep letting the high council run us, they’re killing their own kind who haven’t done anything wrong She never planned on this happening, but there was no going back now, one hundred years the Lycan Shadow Pack have been monsters because the high council made them that way. How are you going to tell the Snow Stone Pack you’re coming? Samuel asks. He didn’t want anyone getting hurt if they didn’t have too. This is where you come in, ask Mason if there is something only him and John know about so I can tell him we are in contact? Ava asks. She waits for her father to get back to him and when she hears what he says she laughs Seriously? Samuel chuckles We were all kids once Ava. And what about our pack? He had a feeling on what Ava was going to do but he needed her to confirm it. I have a direct link to the pack, so I’m going to tell Leon and have him ready the pack. They are going to up and make their way to the Snow Stone Pack, when they arrive we will have taken Mason’s pack and they will hold up there with some warriors to protect them whilst I take the remaining warrior to the high council to get you guys. I would leave them on our land, but I’m trying to protect three packs right now all over the place and it just isn’t possible. Ava tells her father. Once she finished explaining her father was silent, but he didn’t need words to explain how he felt. Ava could feel the emotions from her father through the link. He is so proud of her, though he had many questions. He knew they would wait until they were together again. When Ava removed herself from the link with her father her eyes open back into the office and finds Steele leaning against the desk watching Ava. She gasps in surprise and leans back a little too much. The chair begins to tip over. Steele quickly leans forward and placed his hands on the arm rest, stopping the chair form falling and all four wheels back on the ground with a light thud. “Don’t f*****g scare me like that” Ava scolded. Steele didn’t care, she was his mate, he could do what he wanted. “Put these on, your showing too much” he mutters. Ava smiles, but remains silent, she didn’t want to provoke him more and she still needed to contact Leon. Jumping up she slips the joggers on, they were too big for her because they were his and also too long so she rolled the waistband down “I should probably go out and get some clothes for myself and the kids” she says not directed to him. Steele remained silent and Ava sat back on the chair closing her eyes. Leon are you there? It’s Ava she hoped this worked, Ava had never used the pack link before, at least not to talk to anyone. When she was young, she learned how to use the link to listen but nothing else. Ava? What the hell. Are you back at the Night Star Pack? He questioned. No, but I’ve been talking with dad, I have a plan to get him out, but I need our warriors she tells him. Whatever you need Ava, Alpha Samuel doesn’t deserve to be in chains and you on the run he says without hesitation. Ava spends the next ten minutes explaining the plan to him and he understood. Steele remained in the office whilst Ava worked, it was intriguing to him watching her work. We leave tonight to take back the Snow Stone Pack, when we cross their borders, you take out your council soldiers and get everyone on route B to the Snow Stone Pack, don’t stop until you get there Ava instructs him. I will do, I’ll have Carter ready the warriors, and tell everyone to pack, the soldiers wont notice because their trailing me all the time Leon says. The link soon finished, and Ava stood up she looked her mate in the eye and her eyes glowed silver, her body suddenly having this new control over her Lycan change, “Let’s go start a war”. That night, some warriors of the Lycan Shadow Pack were left behind to protect their women and children in case the high council ambushed them again. Ava watched as Leo hugged and kissed his little mate one last time before joining his scouts. Ava walked up to Nathan and Rose and hugged them both. “Be careful” Nathan told Ava. She smiles and a chuckle escapes her lips “Shouldn’t I be the one telling you that?” she asks. Nathan shakes his head, “You’re the one risking your life to save us all” he replies. Ava didn’t say anything back, she stood up and left one final kiss on each of their foreheads, “Steele has ordered no one come near this house unless something goes wrong, don’t leave the house okay, Mallory is going to look after you”. Mallory was a nanny for the children in the pack. Since every other kids was with someone they knew, Steele had Mallory looking after Rose and Nathan. With one last hug Ava runs towards the green where every warrior was facing their Alpha. Coming up behind them, they automatically part allowing Ava through until she was stood by Steele’s side. Her hand brushes his arms and she suddenly felt a lot calmer than before. “Shift” Steele orders and everyone but Ava and himself are still in human form. They then shift, and everyone takes off towards the Snow Stone Pack. Three days it took to get from the Snow Stone Pack to the Lycan Shadow Pack, but they cut it in half this time. Everyone was angry, many let their wolves take over for the run, they were building up momentum for the potential fight that was to come. Ava had no way to talk to Steele in wolf form, but she turned to look in his eyes and saw rage and determination. She understood why, he had waited years to exact his revenge and now it was finally happening.
