Ava and the Lycan Shadow Pack reached their territory twenty-four hours after the children had found them. Steele led his warriors back over the border, Ava however stopped before she crossed into uninvited territory. Steele saw his mate stop and he sent his Beta along, leaving him alone with Ava. Shifted out of his wolf, Steele goes behind a tree and emerges with shorts on and a shirt in hand for Ava to wear. Nathan steps off Ava and she catches the shirt in her mouth, disappearing behind a tree to shift. Because of her small stature, the shirt she put on was practically touching her knees. Walking back out she takes Rose from Nathan and then takes his hand for comfort. “You have permission to enter my territory” his voice gruff. Ava smiled slightly and stepped over the territory border. Steele walked ahead with Ava and the children following. She looks around the territory and saw she-wolves coming out of their homes and the pack house to greet their mates who they hadn’t seen in weeks. No doubt fearing that they wouldn’t come home. Ava saw that everything they were told as children about the pack members were completely wrong, but she had already figured that out after her visit from the Goddess. Steele led them into the pack house where Beta Flynn and Leo were sat at the counter stuffing their faces with the food laid out for them. Ava watched as Steele walked out of the kitchen “Nathan why don’t you stay here okay, I’ll be right back” she moves to leave but Nathan grabs her arm. His face was full of fear and Ava completely understood why. “I promise you they won’t hurt you, if they did I would kill them all, Flynn and his brother Leo here will watch you” she gives both of the brothers and look and they nod, official Luna or not, she was a Lycan and she was sacred to them all, whatever she said went there was no thinking about it. Pack member or not. Ava was going to leave Rose, but she was sleeping peacefully in her arms and didn’t want to disturb her. Following her mates scent Ava ended up outside a door that was covered in Steele’s scent, his office. She gave a small knock and then entered without waiting for permission to enter. Steele was sat at his desk, a bottle of whiskey on the desk top and a glass in hand. “Are you okay?” she asks. To be honest she had no idea what to say to him and this seemed the most appropriate, especially since she was the cause behind it all. Steele takes another sip of his old whiskey and then pours himself another glass. “I’m sorry” she begins, “If I had known that all this would have happened, I would have never agreed to train Mason’s warriors, I should have stayed in the Night Star Pack and all of this would have never happened, and you would have gotten your revenge”. Steele’s grip on the glass tightens until it smashes in his grasp. Ava gasps and watched as he got to his feet and moved around the desk to Ava. “You wish we had never met?” he asks his tone dropping to deadly. “Yes, no… well, I don’t know, everything is so messed up right now I don’t know what to think” she explains. Steele stands in front of Ava; with one hand he lifts her chin, so her eyes met with his dark gaze. “You are my mate” he starts. Ava huffs and steps back out of his grasp, “You keep saying that and yes, you haven’t rejected me, but from the moment I met you, the only emotion I have seen is anger and most of it was towards me, I am scared shitless of what is happening to me, I am in a territory that I don’t know, caring for two kids whose parents and older brothers along with my father are held captive by the council because of what I am and who you are and I don’t know what to do”. Ava rambles, Steele growls at his mate talking so much and does what he thought would shut her up. Grabbing her neck, he pulls her till their lips meet and Ava’s rambling voice becomes silent. It was euphoric, his tongue dances across her bottom lip wanting access, she automatically gives it to him. Their mate bond suddenly sending large spikes of bursting sensations through their bodies as they touched. As Ava relaxed into the kiss, she felt something stirring inside, she thought it to be emotions, but the clawing feeling she felt before had her pulling back gasping. Steele looked at his mate to see her eyes glowing silver. “Ava” he warns, he had no idea what would happen if she fully changed into her Lycan form. Ava panicked, she still hadn’t gotten control of this and hands Rose over to Steele, he takes her even though he hasn’t a clue how to deal with a child and watches as Ava stumbles backwards before running out of the office. He chases after her. She rushes through the kitchen, Leo, Nathan, and Flynn look up from their plates with curiosity and when Steele comes running through with a child in his arms, they drop their food and chase after them. Ava was outside struggling to control what was happening to her. She had no idea what to do and fought against it making it harder to deal with. The Lycan Shadow Pack were all over the place and when Steele ran out the pack house, they turned to see what was happening. Nathan, Leo, and Flynn stood by Steele, he handed the sleeping child to one of them, not knowing who and then moved towards his mate. He had no idea what he was doing, and she clearly didn’t, this was going to be a difficult time. Ava looked at her mate with frightened glowing eyes of silver. When she saw him moved towards her, she takes a few steps backwards. Her mate may be difficult and always angry, but she wasn’t about to hurt him, she had no idea how to deal with this and she couldn’t predict what would happen. A risk she wasn’t about to take. Ava changed into a Lycan and the pack members of the Lycan Shadow Pack who weren’t with their Alpha when she first changed gasped in shock at what they were seeing. “She’s a Lycan” “That’s not possible” “Who is she?” Dozens of murmurs ran through the pack, Steele didn’t listen to them, his focus was on his mate who was struggling to control what was happening. Ava out of fear did the only thing she could think of to stop the full change that was burning to get out. She shifted. When she stood on all four paws more gasped erupted in the crowd, their thoughts were confirmed, a large black wolf with glowing silver eyes stood before them. Only Lycans had black wolves that big with silver glowing eyes. Being a wolf too, their Lycans were merged with their wolves, it made it easier to control, and sustain in a human form, but that also had their wolves bigger than other werewolves. Ava breathed out heavily as she tried to regain control. She looked around the crowd, and before she knew it, they were kneeling and bowing their heads to her. This was so confusing, “Ava, shift back now” Steele says. When she looks at him, he has a shirt in his hand ready for her. Ava shifts back and Steele throws her a shirt to put on, but not before everyone saw the head warrior tattoo on her shoulder, then they changed their emotion to her. Growls of anger ripped through the crowd, she was a head warrior for the high council, the same council that killed their ancestors. Steele let out a warning growl and everyone went silent. Ava slipped it on and then rushed to stand by her mates’ side. Her arms were by her side, they shook with fear, of what was happening to her and what the pack could do to her. She may be a strong warrior, but she couldn’t fight them all on her own. Steele felt her hands shake when one of her hands grazed his arm, he automatically reached for her hand, she stopped shaking, her mind focused on what he was doing, and her breathing hitched. Steele never said anything else to his pack, he turned and pulled Ava along with him. Nathan, Flynn, and Leo who was carrying Rose followed behind. “Steele, what are we going to do now? They’ve seen her warrior tattoo” this wasn’t good. The entire pack despised the high council and now one of their followers was on their territory. Rose began to stir, and she rubbed her sleepy eyes. Leo who was holding her, looked down at the pretty girl with a smile. Even though her tiny face was blotchy from crying she was still a beautiful child. Rose opened her emerald green eyes and she looked right at Leo. The nineteen-year old felt as if everything around him had changed. A growl erupts in his throat that has everyone turning to him. Ava had wide eyes “No” she says. “Mate” Leo growls. Flynn looks at his brother with wide eyes. And Nathan’s jaw drops open in shock. Rose couldn’t feel the connection, she was too young, it wouldn’t be until her sixteenth birthday that she would feel what Leo was as the moment. The growl scared young Rose and she whimpered in fear, tears spilling out. Ava jumped forward moving to take her from Leo. He growled and held her closer and a little too tight. Rose cried in fear. “Leo, you need to calm down, you’re scaring her, she doesn’t know what’s happening, and you’re holding her too tight, she’s hurting” Ava explains calmly, even though her mind was screaming in shock. At the mention of hurting his mate Leo relaxed and reluctantly let Ava take her. She calmed down immediately and hid her face in Ava’s neck. “How is that possible” Flynn questioned “She’s what four and you’re nineteen”. Leo sighed and rubbed his face; he too couldn’t believe it. There was such a huge age gap. “She’s three and, looks like I’m not the only one with a strange destiny” Ava says as she rocks the three-year-old. Leo groans “How does this work, she hasn’t got her wolf, so how do I know she’s my mate?”. Ava smiles, she read about this once a while ago, it was rare, but it does happen “When one of you haven’t shifted it is nearly impossible to find your mate, but if they are really young, like Rose she is still in that age where she is developing as a human, her mate when shifted can tell, but only when she’s in that infant stage, after that you wouldn’t have been able to tell”. Everyone looks at Ava surprised she knew that information “What? I read a lot okay”. Ava turns to Leo “I’m sorry about the age gap, but you need to understand, Rose won’t feel the pull at all until she is older, which means when puberty hits, she will see boys her own age”. Leo growls again and Ava rolls her eyes “By the way your acting I know you will look after her, but you have to be patient, a sixteen year age gap will be scary for he when she finds out, which means you cant mention any of this until she shifts”. Leo groans again “Thirteen years, I have to wait over a decade for my Rose?” he says. Ava smiles at Leo calling her ‘my Rose’. Ava shrugs, “It might not be thirteen, it could be earlier, she is an Alpha’s daughter”. Leo looks up “Really?”. Ava nods, “Rose and Nathan over here are Alpha Mason Snow’s children of the Snow Stone Pack, thy are my family” she says. Leo nods his head in understanding “I won’t hurt her” he says with determination. Ava smiles “I know you won’t Leo, in fact I trust you more now I know Rose is your mate, which is why I trust you’ll look out for Nathan too”. Leo nods and Ava turns to Nathan who was still looking at this whole thing with shock. “How does my baby sister get a mate before Jake and I?” he asks, then laughs, “They are going to be pissed when he finds out, and dad is going to rip your throat out” laughing as he points to Leo. Nathan always laughed when he was shocked, it often got him in trouble during serious times. Ava however found it funny too, especially looking at Leo’s horrid face “He has a point, Rose is their only daughter and the baby too, nineteen years from Kyle being born they wanted a little girl. It finally happened and now she has an already grown and shifted mate” Ava teased. Leo scowls when he sees the amused smile on her face. “Not funny” he huffs out. Ava laughs and Rose looks up at her with questioning eyes. She smiles and leaves a kiss on her head, “You hungry sweetie?”. Rose nods her head just as a grumble erupts from her little belly making Ava chuckle. “I can make something” Leo offers and Ava smiles. “How about pancakes?” Ava asks and Rose nods with a smile on her little face. “We need to talk” Steele’s voice breaks the happiness. Ava sighs, she knew he was talking to her. Walking up to Nathan she hands the little girl over. As she follows Steele out, she turns to see Leo walking to his little mate “Leo” she calls. He stoops and looks at her “Baby steps” she warns “Talk to her and be around her, wait until she reaches out to you” Ava says. Leo pouted, he wanted to hold onto her and not let go, but he nods at Ava and takes a step back going back to the stove to cook. Ava walked into the office and Steele was leaning against her desk, the broken glass still everywhere. She didn’t like mess. Walking up to the desk she begins to clean it up “Leave it, I’ll have someone come in and do it” Steele says. Ava shakes her head “It’s fine” picking up one shard at a time, the edges were sharp. Steele reached to stop her, him being close had Ava inhale sharply and place her had on the desk to steady herself, but she put it on the glass. “s**t” she hisses out. Steele pulls her away from the rest of the glass, the pile in her hand she was collecting now back on the table. “I told you I would have someone clean it up” he scowled as he looked at all the glass shards now stuck in her hand. “I was fine until you got close” she says. She stops moving and looks at her. She lifts her face to his gaze and their eyes lock. He leans down to her, his lips close to Ava’s. his hot breath dances across her lips and Ava couldn’t help but brush her tongue against her bottom lip. Steele growls aroused by her small movement and kisses her. She is pulled against his body, feeling his member against her stomach twitching with need. Ava moans and her hands ball into fists, the glass dig deeper into her flesh and she pulls back with a small cry of pain. Steele looks back at her hand and grasps it in his large callous hand, then begins to remove the shards of glass. When a piece of removed from her hand the wound immediately heals. They were only small cuts, and with her new Lycan ability, Ava healed much faster than other werewolves. After a few minutes Ava’s hand no longer had glass in it and it was completely healed, only the dried blood remained. “Um, what was it you wanted to talk about?” she asks her mate, avoiding a repeat of what just happened. Steele looks away and sighs, “I believe you” he says. Ava looks at him confused “What?” she says, completely confused about what he was walking about. “You not knowing you were a Lycan and about our pack history, even about knowing what happened to my mother, I believe you” he says. A small smile fell onto her face. Reached to his chin she turns him to look at her “Thank you” she whispers. She had never been this close to Steele when he was in a calm state, he was always angry, and his eyes were almost black. She was looking at a pair of steel grey eyes and she chuckled. He raised an eyebrow in question. “Steel grey eyes, coincidently a perfect fit to the name” she says. Steele chuckled amused by Ava’s observation. Her jaw drops open and her eyes go wide with shock “Did I just hear the big bad Rogue Alpha laugh?” Steele glares at her “Don’t get used to it” he mutters. Ava rolls her eyes, that didn’t last long. “So, what happens now?” she inquires. Steele stands up and goes around his desk, avoiding the glass he grabs some files. “We plan for defence and offence” he says with his eyes swirling in dark emotion.
