I rushed out and went to the bar to drink myself into a stupor.Orion came to sit beside me and said, "What could have made a beauty drown herself in alcohol?"I shook my head. "I just want to clear off something.""Is it about David?"My eyes went wide open, and I turned to look at him. "How did you know?""Let's just say, I have my findings, Lyra."I was shocked at how he even knew my name. He leaned closer as he whispered, "Be my contracted wife."

feeling of betrayal
Lyra. "I won't be home early today; I have a lot of paperwork to handle, and one of my prestigious clients will be arriving, so I have to attend to him," David said at the other end. "But... today is our anniversary; I have planned something special for you, and I want us to try one more time to see if we can try having a baby," I said, my voice hoarse. "You don't understand Lyra; having a baby means so much love and care, and it's something that we are not ready to offer now." "But_" "Okay, gotta go; my client just arrived; I'll talk to you later." I stood up, went to the kitchen, and placed the already-prepared food in the microwave. I went back to the dining table. I found Dora sitting on the couch while watching TV. I went to her, sat beside her, and hugged her. She's my only consolation now. "I came for the adversary celebration," she said, scanning the room. "And where is David? I expected him to be home by now. Don't tell me he decided to stay late for work again, that jerk," she let out. I let out a sigh. "I love David; I just wish he could at least respect this day by attending our anniversary," I said as I hugged her and let the hot tears stream down my cheeks. It aches my heart, but I still care. She patted my shoulder and said, "Don't worry, I believe he'll try to wrap things up and attend the anniversary. So don't fuss yourself unnecessarily, okay?" She advised. A smile curled on my lips. Thank you for always being there for me; I couldn't ask for anything more." We watched TV together, ate, and drank to our hearts' content. Two hours went by, and there was no sign of David. Dora decided to leave for her house; now I was lonely. I went to my room, curled myself in the sheets, and waited for God knows how long, wishing to see the presence of David. I decided to go to the nearest hotel, which was a bit crowded because I wanted to relax. I went to room 34, the room where we spent our honeymoon. I smiled, reminiscing about how our wedding night was unforgettable. I took a deep breath. I sat on the bed and wished David was there. I decided to lie on the bed; this has been the only seclusion I could think of whenever I'm down, especially the times David gives excuses at work. I'll find my way to this hotel, this room, and this bed, basking myself in the memories of our honeymoon. Later that night, I opened my eyes and found myself still in the hotel, feeling lonely. I checked my phone, and there was still no call from David. I let out a sigh. I was expecting it—not to see a call, but something within me wished he'd call at least to check up on me. I climbed out of bed, deciding to take a stroll down the corridor. I walked gently, but something piqued my interest: the voice of Dora. I felt enlightened. I am feeling both bored and lonely; maybe spending time with her would reduce my boredom. I was about to open the door when I heard something that made me stop in my tracks. "I am pregnant," she squealed in happiness. I felt happy for her. I wonder why she never told me, but I can't help wondering who she was talking to. "You know, we have always wanted this; now I am finally pregnant," Dora added. The other voice was barely a whisper, so I could barely hear what the other person was saying. I don't want to intrude; maybe she was with her fiance. So I turned to leave, not wanting to disturb. While leaving, the hotel waitress arrived, requesting my help holding her ID card while she rushed to the toilet. I smiled as I took the ID from her. She was gone, and I was left standing there like a robot. A man wearing a fitted tuxedo arrived and said, "For Chris's sake, I won't go in and know what our customers want. They have called you, Selina, to attend to their needs; your presence was not seen, so they called me," he yelled at me. "No, you misunderstood; I am not." "Go and attend to them, or you are fired." He fired back, not allowing me to continue. I took a deep breath, my heart palpitated, and I walked in with the best expression I could muster. I'll just tell Dora I'm in a tight position, so I have to walk in. I was inside, but my cheeks burned when I saw couples covering themselves in sheets. "Yes, yes, right there, oh my goodness, f**k, yes, yes," the lady moaned. I turned back; this was an intrusion on privacy. I was about to leave, but another voice stopped me. "I love it when you moan like that." Maybe I misheard; I was about to leave because my hallucinations were playing a trick on me. "Oh, you brought the toiletries that I had asked for?" The voice of Dora resounded, stopping me from leaving. I turned; they were sweating. The ID I had fell to the ground, my heartbeat increased, my brows knitted, and my fist was tightly clenched. "Da...vid, Dora!" I sounded stunned. David stood up; he was naked. He walked towards me. "So, Dora is pregnant for you! And when I thought I had trusted both of you," I turned toward Dora. So you knew why my husband refused to attend the adversary, yet you acted like you were not aware of it. Dora, you have betrayed me in the worst way possible." I pursed, turning to David, "And David, when I thought you were the most faithful man I have come in contact with—when I thought that you have ever loved me—I never knew that you were such a jerk to have lowered yourself with my friend." I said as more tears trembled down my cheeks. He tried to come close to me. I was expecting remorse, but rather he had a sinister smile on his face. "I have wanted to tell you about it, but since you managed to find out yourself, there is no need to fuss about me telling you. What I wanted to tell you is that I have lost the feelings I once had for you, and I want a divorce." My eyes widened when he said that, and I turned to leave, not having any of it. I ran out of the room in horror and then went straight to the elevator. I bumped into someone. I closed my eyes, expecting to land on the ground, but rather he wrapped his hand around my waist, stopping me from falling. I looked up; it was Orion Bill, the CEO of Graphics and Telecom, the most wanted bachelor. "What's with the hurry?" "Uhm, I have nothing; I am just trying to go home," I replied. He had a smile and helped me stand on my feet as we faced different directions. The elevator was quiet. I refuse to look at him; I just want to be out of here because the few minutes here felt a bit tense. The elevator came to a stop. I rushed out and went to the bar to drink myself into a stupor. Orion came to sit beside me and said, "What could have made a beauty drown herself in alcohol?" I shook my head. "I just want to clear off something." "Is it about David?" My eyes went wide open, and I turned to look at him. "How did you know?" "Let's just say, I have my findings, Lyra." I was shocked at how he even knew my name. He leaned closer as he whispered, "Be my contracted wife."
