Love at What Cost

BECCA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I scream as one of my two best friends tries her best to embarrass me. "But Rach what fun would that be." Rebecca Steal fake pouted, she was the dare devil of our group. My other best friend Kenley Smith was the voice of reason or the wrath if you ticked her off and I was the shy one. Kens however is currently smirking at me totally not being that voice of reason as Becca continues to be really inappropriate in front of the new Cardiac Surgeon. Dr. Daxton Reid. Thankfully Dr. Reid currently has his back to us getting his breakfast, but she is obsessed with the ideal that he is in love with me. Granted out of all of the nursing students here in the OR he does tend to call on me to a lot or ask if I would like to assist him in his cases but that doesn't mean the man loves me. I mean next to Kens my rival friendly of course we want the title Summa c*m Laude no other student in our rotation wants anything to do with OR, they are all wanting to be on a PEDS floor or in the ER. So naturally he would call on us. Kens however always goes with the Pediatric Surgeon since that is her ultimate goal, she says she just a Nursing student so that she stands out on her Med school application and has a great back up plan. So that really only leaves me. This is what I told myself to not fall into the trap. I'm a sucker for romance and these heffas know it. Becca starts to move her hips in a grinding motion while saying his name so I reach up and smack her on the back of the head. It is at that moment he chooses to turn around and stare directly at me raising a questioning brow. I groan and accidentally say out loud "swallow me now earth". Kenley and Rebecca burst out laughing and I died of humiliation. Looking at the time, I see that we have about 5 mins to make it to the OR. We get up and head out of the cafe' but before we reach the door, Dr. Reid calls out " Rachel, I have a 7am open heart, if you would like to scrub in and observe and help out?" I say " sure thing see you in 45mins." He says "ok great see you then" not only that he winks at me and I hear laughter behind me. I turn to see Kens telling becca to cut it out and she turns to me and says sorry. This day just got a lot longer....
