Kara kept her smile, but I could see that she was forcing it to remain on her face while I moved toward her.
“I can leave if you want me to, Luna Alara.”
“No, Kara. Stay…” I gestured with both hands, causing her to sigh in relief.
“I am glad that you want me to stay.” She smiled genuinely, and I nodded.
“I don’t think I need protection, Kara. But what I think I need is a friend, someone to talk to. Can you be my friend?”
