ALARA’S POV
I held Darius at once, preventing him from making any other move.
The blood I saw on Kara’s dagger was still dripping, and I was certain that she had not used the weapon to kill just one person.
“Allow me, Alara! We have to defend the east gate!” Darius had always prioritized the safety of his people, but there was no one to ensure his safety except me.
“Just wait, Darius. We don’t know who that could be.” I was nervous and unable to hide my fear.
“If the east gate is infiltrated, then the people will suffer brutality, Alara. Let me go…” Darius wanted to pull out of my grip, but it was not as easy as he thought.
