Chapter 7

"Something is moving there behind those trees," he said, pointing at the big trees in front of us.

Jacqueline tried to advance cautiously and aimed his rifle at that place, and as he approached him, a huge black rabbit jumped, and ran away to the other side.

"Just a rabbit, please keep your cool guys," Jacqueline said, scolding his colleague.

"After we've come all this way, I think we're in the middle of the woods now," said Nate, examining the map with his hand

He put it back in his bag and looked at me, "All we have to do is wait a bit, monsters will appear any minute, right, Melin?" said Nate.

Nate was scratching the back of his neck and then walked up to me to take me away from them, "Mileen... I want you to stay here for just a moment... while we're hiding around, surely you can do that," he said in a low voice.

"Maybe, I really don't know," I said, puzzled

I was shocked to ask him "Nate, are you using me as bait now?" I said as I furrowed my eyebrows in anger

"Oh, no, don't get it like that sweetheart, just a simple trick, as far as I know vampires are drawn to women's blood, Melin...it's my dream, our dream, have you forgotten?" he said in a loud voice, almost crying again.

Everyone was looking at us and I was ashamed of Nate's childish behavior in front of them "Okay, I'm going to stand on this tree trunk but this time Nate... it will be my last trip with you" I said

"Yeah, yeah, I promise... come on guys, let's hide in there," said Nate, while Jacqueline and the rest followed him, looking at each other.

I remained standing at the tree trunk, and the intensity of voices and whispers began to increase around me. I felt frightened and returned to put my hand over my ear and then closed my eyes as well. I prayed that nothing happens until we finish all this and return to our home in peace.

Suddenly I was terrified when I heard the sound of gunfire, and I quickly opened my eyes when I saw a man with a bullet in the head lying in front of me on the ground I screamed in fright, as Jacqueline rushed towards me and tried to calm me down.

"It's okay, it's over," Jacqueline said

I saw Nate take pictures of the injured man with his mobile camera, "Didn't I tell you, a true mythical creature," he said with a smile.

That pale man had his eyes closed as blood ran out of his head and Jacqueline's assistant pulled out chains of shackles

"Yeah, cuff him. We don't know if he's killed or not. He'd rather be alive. A wooden stake in his heart might be the last resort in case he tries to attack us," Nate said excitedly.

As soon as Jacqueline's assistant approached him, something pounced on his neck with lightning speed, we could only see what had happened, that blood spurted from the neck of Jacqueline's colleague and fell to the ground...

We all freaked out and backed away, and again hissing sounds came around us showing many numbers of those boys and this time they were ugly shapes, completely black eyes with long fangs, I screamed in terror as I retreated back.

"Retreat," Jacqueline said

Nate and I retreated, and Jacqueline's men started shooting at the vampires as we ran to leave.

But two vampires got in our way, and one of them grabbed me by the arm but I pulled it hard, ripping the skin of my arm with his long nails.

Jacqueline showed up at the right moment and shot them

This was my only chance to escape so I ran in the other direction.

"Nate..." I shouted as I turned around, and when I turned from behind I saw Nate clutching the camera as he ran fast with one of Jacqueline's men, while the rest of the men engaged the vampires.

And here I felt someone force me away from the ground to carry me on his shoulder as he ran with me quickly

I panicked, "Let me!" I shouted as I hit his hard back with my fists to no avail, and his speed was enormous.

I couldn't see this creature very well because of the darkness as I listened to its running footsteps on the leaves and branches stretching on the ground with the sound of its strong breathing

"Now take me down, you beast," I said out loud

Suddenly his speed slowed to a halt and he lowered me into a broad tree, and without delay I pushed him away from me with my hand to run away from him, but he grabbed me by the wrist and turned to kick him on the leg.

"Stupid...stop it," he said in an angry tone

I didn't listen to him and I was yelling trying to push him, as if I was some kind of hysteria and suddenly he hit me hard on the cheek.

I blinked my eyes and froze in fear of him as I put my hand on my hot cheek. It was the last slap I received from my drunken father when I was a child.

I saw him pull his jacket off his head. That was the gray-eyed wolf guy!

My eyes filled with tears as I stared at him in silence, he approached me but I retreated from him in fear, his angry features appeared and then he put his hands on his waist as he licked his lips

"Listen to me, she, I don't know why you're back. I warned you before, and now I must get you out of here urgently, your raging screams will soon find you, and the smell of your blood is scattered," he said nervously.

I looked down, and I didn't answer him, he kept staring at me and then came close to me and moved my hand on my cheek to pass his fingers lightly as he slapped me "I'm sorry about that" he said

I saw him put his hand in his jacket pocket to hand me something from it and put it in my hand. It was a piece of chocolate.

Although my face was stained with tears, I could not prevent my smile from appearing, his behavior was strange to him in such a scary place.

I looked up at him, he was smiling at me but I panicked and woke up when I saw a tall, scary man who appeared from behind the wolf-man as his fangs awfully stick out... My eyes went dark and I lost consciousness completely.

When the girl screamed at me, she looked in terror from behind me, I turned to find Marcus, having taken out his demon, he grabbed me by the neck and then threw me hard to the other side

I managed to stand on my leg, I was ready to fight him and my fangs were long, my wolf seemed about to leave when I saw him walking towards the girl who fell unconscious.

But he stopped in his place and turned towards me, "I'll take her," he said

I saw a large number of his followers appearing from behind the trees and they surrounded me from all directions, for sure it would be a losing battle for me and they would be able to kidnap it in the end.

I quickly came up with a quick plan in my head. "I think you should think before you do that, you don't want to go to war with our group," I said.

"We found it first," he said with an angry look

"You can't trade this girl, because she's an alpha mate, don't you feel her special blood... I'm just her bodyguard," I said, trying to be more steadfast.

"So a valuable catch fell into our hands," he said

"Valuable hunting but I will fight to the death to get it back, and when the vampire boss kills one member of the Silver Wolf group and kidnaps the other... I won"t guarantee that the wolves won"t overrun your area and completely crush it," I said.

He remained silent thinking, and I continued, "It may cost you a lot to make a deal with us, as we are outside your borders now." I said.

He was passing his hand over his chin, and as I tried to make all my thoughts shut down and confused in front of him, I knew that a vampire could tell what he was thinking, especially Marcus, who was one of the old original vampires.

"Get out of my area at once...Next time I won't hesitate to do anything if I find this girl or her companions on my way," he said.

"I have nothing to do with her comrades, what matters to me is the alpha companion." I told him, then I walked towards her to take her in my arms and sped off without turning around from behind me.

When I regained consciousness, I found myself waking up in a strange place from me, and immediately I sat quickly terrified as I turned around.

I was in a small room with those big windows and the sun's rays scattered through them on the luxurious red carpet.

I felt a little dizzy in my head, and that white gauze wrapped around my entire arm caught my attention. My shirt was also replaced with another red shirt.

I tried to remember what happened to me in the woods, the vampires and Nate's escape, and how the wolfman helped me.

I asked where am I? I was so thirsty, I pulled the cover off and suddenly the room door opened and a beautiful lady with black hair with white locks came in and stared at me with a wide smile

"Finally, you wake up," she said

"Who are you? Where am I?" I said with a hoarseness in my voice

"My name is Victoria, Andreas' mother. You're at our house now," she said

"Who is Andreas?" I said

"Oh, excuse me, I should have told you another way...Andreas is that young man who rescued you in the woods," she said.

Andreas! I stared at her and asked myself, Am I really in the wolf-man's family home? So he brought me here.

"Are you feeling better?" said his mother. She said

"Just a little dizzy," I said, and then paused for a while

"Can I use the bathroom?" I said

"Sure, my dear, it's in an annex inside the room, I'll be around." She said standing up and then left the place

Andreas' mother seems sweet from the way she talks to me, but I know her animal side yet, sure she's a werewolf and I should be wary of her.

I walked towards the bathroom attached to the room, which was stocked with perfume and soap, and I felt the need to shower, my long hair was a big mess and I didn't see it like that. I really don't know how long I've been here.

I took off my clothes and tried not to let the water fall on my gauze-wrapped arm, when Nate came to my mind when he let me down and left me behind, and I felt the pain stabbing me inside.

I dried my body and put that shirt back on and so did my pants, I remembered when the vampire ripped my shirt and stained it with blood.

When I left the bathroom to the room I found Andreas' mother bringing me a glass of some sort, and put it on the table.

"You can take this herbal tea to help heal the wound," she said

"Thank you, madam... were you the one who bandaged my wound?" I said to her

"No, it's Andreas' friend who did. It's been two days since you've been here. It wasn't an ordinary thing, it was only because of the poisoning of the wound caused by the claws of a vampire," she said.

I was surprised to say it two days! I couldn't believe I slept for two days, while she was looking at my wet hair,

"Oh, you need to dry your long hair too, or you'll catch a cold," she said, rushing to the closet to get the hairdryer with the comb.

She gestured for me to sit on the chair in front of the mirror, I watched her face through the reflection. She looked like her son Andreas, with green eyes.
