Chapter 9

I went to the kitchen and poured the juice on me while Nate looked at me curiously and also saw some of Jacqueline's men come out of their rooms to see me as if they didn't believe I was back again.

My kitty ran towards me "Oh kitty I miss you" I said as I hugged her.

"Won't you at least tell me what happened to you and how you survived?" Nate said

I sat on the sofa "I hid in a tree trunk and when morning came I left the woods" I said without looking at him

"Oh come on, Russell, why are you so mad at me?" he said

"Do you really not know why I'm angry?" I said salting my hand

"You leave me there alone in the woods, while you ran away, your portable camera was more important than me," I said angrily.

"No, my dear, believe me. I thought you followed us, but it seems that you were so afraid when you went in another direction, I told you so many times not to turn away from me," he said.

"It's okay, it's over, there's no point in arguing now," I said

"At least, won't you tell me where you've been for two days? Who bandaged your wound?" he said, looking at my arm.

"Actually, a hunter wandering in the woods rescued me. He took me home, and his wife took care of my wounds. That's all that happened to me," I said.

"Good, you're really lucky," Nate looked at me. He said

"We're glad you survived," said one of the men

"Where's Jacqueline? Is he sleeping?" I said. I looked around among Jacqueline's companions standing here.

"Jacqueline... I lost him in the woods. I think he was killed," said Nate

I was shocked and put my hand over my mouth, "Oh my God! Maybe he was stuck there?" I said

"I don't think so," he said

I stood in my place and approached Nate, "Nate... we have to get out of here... we can't stay in this horrible place." I said in a low voice.

I saw the rest of the men going back to their rooms, their faces sad because they had lost their friend Jacqueline.

"Of course, Milene, we're going home this evening," he said with a big smile.

I felt comfortable and finally, "Believe me, the project to hunt a mythical creature is very dangerous," I said.

"But I did," he said

I narrowed my eyes and tried to understand what he meant, "I did what?" I said

"I hunted a vampire yesterday," he said

I swallowed my throat "You're kidding!?... And where is he now?" I said in disbelief

"He is tightly bound in that room and we injected him with an anesthetic solution until we can travel with him tonight," he said

"Oh my God..." I said and shivered through my body as I looked towards the locked door of the room

I saw Nate go to the kitchen and he brought out cans of liquor.

I was worried about being with a vampire in the same place, why would we do that to them, hunt them and do our experiments on them, they are creatures like us and they have a right to live in peace.

"Oh my God, you know when we get to Delphi I'll show the mythical being there, and everyone will be surprised by that," he said.

I felt annoyed and stood up, "I'm sorry, Nate, I want to go get my bag ready for my departure" I said

He was taking his phone out of his pocket to answer someone's call, while I left him to go to the room, I collected my things as well as the sheets and covers, I could not bear to stay here, and I became annoyed by Nate's actions.

I saw that wooden peg which was placed on the cupboard beside me, I took it in my hand touching it and thought I might need it on the plane, I can't trust Nate to protect me after leaving me in the woods and losing Jacqueline too.

I should go back there and say goodbye, I said to myself with a smile as I held the shirt in my hand

I put the stake in the bag and then I took Andreas' mother's shirt in my hands, thinking of returning the shirt to her before I left.

As I was getting ready to go out, I looked at Nate, who was still on his phone, and I signaled for him to go out, but he didn't mind me, so I left and my kitty followed me.

"Kitty will accompany me!" I said with a smile and took her in my hands

"I think I... I wanted to see that attractive man again," I whispered with a sly smile as I spoke to Kitty.

I watched the road around me and felt a little scared, the streets were dark with little light, I should run until I got to the pack of werewolves, I don't know but I feel safe there in their area.

I started jogging but panicked when I felt someone follow my steps behind me. It might just be an illusion and I didn't try to turn around while my heart raced.

After some time running to the edge of their group, leaning on the lamppost and panting heavily, I saw a few men approaching me and I cautiously retreated to the back.

"Stop! I think you crossed the area a while ago when you came back here?" Someone said

"I wanted to see Mrs. Victoria...one of her things with me," I said as I showed him the shirt. Someone snatched the shirt from my hand and inhaled it, which made me strange.

He brought him back to me and walked down the road to make way for me to pass, and without adding any words I sped up to the neighborhood where the Andreas family lived.

Some of the passersby caught my attention, and they were in pairs, a young man and a girl, and as usual, their looks at me frightened me, but I tried to ignore them, perhaps because I was the only human being here.

After a short time I was standing in front of the big house, I crossed the courtyard and pressed the bell, and after a few minutes of waiting the door of the house opened to show Andreas' mother, who was surprised I was back

"Melene? I thought you were gone," she said

"I came to return the shirt to you, and I wanted to say goodbye to you before my departure. Nate decided to leave for the night," I said with a smile.

"But did you come alone?" she said, looking outside

"Yeah" I said

"You shouldn't have gone out alone, it's dangerous outside," she said

"What are you doing here?" he said loudly and turned to see Andreas approaching me.

"Did something happen? When did you come back?" he said, looking worried

Just hearing his voice my heart beat, I couldn't stop staring at his gray eyes, both frightening and attractive, and seeing his black pupils dilate strangely amidst that gray color. How charming that was.

Shroudy's mother's voice was interrupted, "Mileen came to say goodbye before she left for her home tonight," said his mother

"I don't know why you are so determined to put yourself in danger? How did that guy named Nate let you go out on your own at this time of night?" he said and furrowed his eyebrows.

"I'm sorry, you're right, it's terrifying here, but I can sense the danger in your group," I said

He did not have to hold his wide hands in front of him, so he turned to Mrs. Victoria and I handed her her shirt and shook her hand

"It was a pleasure getting to know you, madam, and I thank you very much," I told her

"Take care of yourself," she said with a smile

I carried Kitty in my arms and retreated back, "Don't worry, I can protect myself."

"You will! Hold on, I'll take you home," Andreas said with a smile

We were walking silently all the way, I wanted to talk to him and get to know him more closely. I was attracted to him in some way, maybe I could also get his phone number to contact him after I left here.

My thoughts were interrupted when he spoke, "Is this your cat?" He said

"Yes, Kitty, what do you think of her, isn"t she beautiful?" I said with a smile

Buffy was silent and did not answer, then continued, "Can wolves like cats?" I said

He looked at me with a wide smile on his face, "You're definitely joking?" he said

"Wolves may devour beautiful cats," he said, and his silver eyes shone in the darkness

A shiver passed through my body as his eyes flashed, "Your eyes look!?" I said as I looked away from him, I don"t know if it was fear or admiration.

"Are you afraid that I will devour you?" he said and then looked down as we walked

I was surprised by his reaction, "Oh no... I... I feel safe with you by my side... I'm just trying to believe what's around me" I said

He looked at me again, "What about that one called Nate?" he said

"Nate... I don't know... but I don't trust him anymore," I sighed, distracted by Nate's selfish behavior and his abandonment of me when we were together in the woods.

"Here we come, you can hurry to walk home." He said pointing at me to continue on my way home

I nodded to him, "Thank you...Andreas."

But to my surprise, he pulled me away to kiss me on the lips in a wonderful way and left my kitty jumping out of my hands on the floor, who is this person to do all this to me I hardly knew.

Those sweet moments didn't last when he pushed me away in a ruthless manner as he nervously ran his hand through his black hair.

"I... I didn't mean... Get out of here at once," he said angrily, looking remorseful.

I stood stunned looking at him and then I felt embarrassed and my anger escalated, I couldn't figure out what was going on with him? I took Kitty in my arms and hurried home

"Meleen, stop!" he said, catching up with me to grab my arm

I turned towards him, and took his hand away from me in anger. Was he suffering from schizophrenia or what?! But he looked distracted and kept looking around us in a suspicious manner.

"Wait, don't go... something around." He said

When Melene was about to leave, I was in an inner struggle with my wolf who wanted me to hold her here by our side.

Our lives were full of dangers and enemies, and I cannot go through such a broken experience. I listened to her heartbeat and felt that mutual desire between us, which made it more difficult to stay away from her.

I was on a cliff with one sign of hers when she sent her to me in a kiss I couldn't stop myself from kissing her but my mind overcame my feelings and I pushed her away, I signaled her to go away, and my wolf scolded me for behaving like this when she seemed so angry and hurt I kept watching her as she left for her house.

Suddenly, within seconds, I felt my instinct, like a wolf, warning that there was danger nearby, and the desire for protection overwhelmed my feelings again, but I could not locate the enemy. Everything was silent and dark in this place.

"Mileen, wait." I said out loud, then I caught up with her and pulled her back

"Wait for something around the corner.... I can feel the presence of vampires, but I'm not sure," I said as I looked carefully at the horizon.

I took my hand harshly away from her, "I don't care what you say... It's too late. My fiancé, Nate, has been waiting for me," she said in a provocative manner.

I grabbed her by the arm again, "I told you, stop, you can't go there, I have to make sure of them." I said staring into her eyes.

Suddenly we heard the sound of intense gunfire inside the house, Russell stepped back,

"You have to go back to the group border, it's dangerous here," I said

We rushed back to the group, "but Nate and the others," she said, turning around behind her

"Hurry up and up," I said
