Untitled Episode
The wedding dress was white.
Pure. Perfect.
Just like the lies Ryan told me for 4 years.
I stood at the altar, bouquet shaking in my hands. 200 guests. String quartet. My mom dabbing her eyes in the front row.
"30 minutes to Mrs. Carter," the wedding planner whispered with a smile.
My phone buzzed in the pocket of my dress.
I shouldn’t have looked.
It was a photo. No text. Just a picture.
Ryan. In our hotel suite. In our bed.
On top of his assistant, Claire.
The timestamp said 11:43 AM.
It was 11:45 AM now.
My breath left me.
Another buzz.
A text from him: _"Can’t wait to marry you, baby. You’re the only one for me."_
The room tilted. The music sounded like it was underwater.
I could see him in my head, kissing her with the same mouth that said "I love you" to me last night.
Someone called my name. The doors were about to open.
I didn’t cry. Not there.
I set the bouquet down on the chair. Straightened my spine.
And I walked.
Past the confused planner. Past my crying mother. Past the doors that were supposed to lead to "happily ever after."
I walked out of the church in my wedding dress and I didn’t look back.

They say betrayal teaches you how to hurt.
They’re right. It carves you open.
But it also teaches you how to survive.
Three years later, I keep my walls up and my heart locked.
New city. New job. New rule: No men. Ever.
That rule lasted until Damian Cole walked into my interview.
Tall. Black suit. Eyes that looked like they’d seen the same kind of damage I had.
He didn’t smile. He didn’t believe in second chances.
Neither did I.
"Miss Johnson," he said, sliding my resume back. "Can you handle working for someone who doesn’t trust easily?"
I met his gaze. "Mr. Cole, I wrote the book on not trusting."
For the first time in 3 years, something in his eyes flickered.
Like maybe two broken people could be dangerous together.
Or maybe... they could heal.
