Chapter 12

Sylis and Sakiya made their way through the woods, heading towards the east side of town. That is where the library is located, and where Maranda would be waiting for them. Sylis moved around a tree once they moved close to the road, motioning for Sakiya to be quiet. "What's wrong?" Sakiya whispered. When Sylis put his finger up to his lips again, she heard what he was hearing. It sounded like a couple of males were making their way into the woods. They both stood there as patient and unmoving as they could, watching and waiting to see if they would hear the conversation of the two men. "Yeah dude, they say the woman is someone that cannot get away. If we can't find them, Mrs. Cohen will have our heads. I don't know what's up with the Cohen's son, but apparently they feel betrayed. Once they realized both of them were gone, they put two and two together, and knew somehow they had both run away. Sadie said she knew this is what had happened." One of the men said to the other one, causing Sakiya to put her hand over her mouth and slightly gasp. She looked at Sylis as he faced her, her eyes going wide along with his. s**t they know, I knew this was gonna happen, it was only a matter of time She thought to herself. She kept her mouth covered, and Sylis went as stiff as a board. Once the men seemed to be further away, Sakiya and Sylis both let out their breath. "What the f**k? Seriously! Sadie is gonna try and pin this on you, Sylis." Sakiya told him wordlessly, and he nodded at her. "Don't worry about it, we need to go, like now. Before they find us. I'm sure it won't be long before others are informed and are also out looking for us," Sylis replied. He moved ahead, constantly looking around at his surroundings with Sakiya right on his trail. They were only a few minutes from the kingdom's library, as it was on the main road they were mere feet from. Sylis grabbed Sakiya by the hand and quickly pulled her across the street and toward the big building. He immediately went to the side of the building, checking to see if the coast was clear. There were families and moms with children going into the library and others coming out. Once he realized they weren't anyone important, he pulled Sakiya inside and shut the door. "So, where would she be? We have to make this quick and get out of dodge." Sylis told her, his nerves on high alert. "Wait a minute, does she smell like daisies?" Sylis questioned Sakiya before she could reply to his previous question, and she was confused about how he would come up with that, let alone know what her scent was. "Weirdly, yes. How did you know that?" She asked him. "I don't know, but I'm a little weirded out too. Let's not question it right now though, follow closely behind me." He instructed. They made their way through the library in a low-key manner, coming through a row of book shelves. Sylis looked around the room, standing by the closest bookshelf. The room was set up like any other library you'd imagine. Book shelves in rows on each side of the room, computers in the middle, and tables scattered a few feet from each other for people to be able to sit and read. The book shelves were solid wood along with the tables. They were carved intricately with some higher end designs, showing the library was a wealthier one. "We're getting ready to find her, I can smell it!" Sylis implied. Sakiya chuckled at him, wondering where this came from all of a sudden. They walked around the bookshelves in each row, until they approached a brown-haired, tanned and taller woman hiding her face in a book. "Maranda!" Sakiya whispered loudly, causing Maranda to turn her head in their direction. She dropped the book in her hand and moved to take Sakiya in her arms and give her a big hug. "You're ten minutes late. What took you so long? I was worried!" Maranda said to Sakiya, hugging her for the second time. "She'll explain later. We need to get out of here." Sylis interrupted. He pulled them both behind the next row of bookshelves, walking through to find a back exit. He knew there were two exits in this place, he had studied and researched here for classes. "Follow me." He told the two girls, making his way further towards the back of the room. There was a small hall with two elevators side by side. "We have to take the elevator, it leads to the basement floor of the library, which houses an exit out the back." He told them, both of them nodding and following his orders. "How will we know that no one is down there?" Sakiya questioned him as the elevator dinged, all three of them making their way inside. "I guess there's only one way to find out." Sylis replied. The elevator moved them one floor down, and made the same ding, letting them know they had reached their floor. Sakiya's heart was pounding, and Maranda had no idea what the rush or nervousness was for. She wasn't aware that the pair had run away from the mansion, and his crazy sister. Once the elevator opened, Sylis motioned for both of them to stand back as he looked around. He was relieved to see there was absolutely no one around or in sight. He proceeded to wave them along, moving towards the back door to make their exit. As Sylis opened the back door, there was a man standing outside against the back wall of the 3-story brown brick building. Sylis was stunned, silent, and didn't move a muscle. "I heard you ran away, young man." When the man had spoken to Sylis, Sakiya and Maranda were both waiting for an answer. They had no idea who the strange guy was. "Uhm, Hi, Mr. Luther. It's nice to see you, but we need to get on the move." Sylis replied. He laughed at him, and moved his hand against his forehead in a motion to salute. "Well I'd say you better get going, your father's main staff assistant will be meeting me here soon to discuss a plan to find you. If I may suggest to you, son. You need to get away, and far. They'll stop at nothing to find you. Don't worry though, I won't say a word." The strange man replied back to Sylis, moving his finger to make a cross-shaped motion across his chest. "Thank you so much, Mr. Luther. I knew I could always trust you." Sylis beamed at the older man. "Be careful, young lad. And protect those ladies." The man told him, before Sylis saluted him back and moved forward, motioning for us to follow him. As they were walking across the lot towards the street, making their way towards the other side of the woods, Sylis looked back at both of the ladies. "He's always been like a second father to me. I'll explain soon. Let's get out of here first!" He told them. They all paid attention to everything around them until they made it to the woods. Once they were there, they stopped for a moment to catch their breath. "What was that back there?" Sakiya asked Sylis. He bent down and put his hands on his knees, before standing back up and wiping his hands down his face. He was happy and stressed at the same time. "He's the man who had an affair with my mother. I've always kept it a secret, and I knew I might need him one day. This situation definitely calls for that."
