A month later.
Nora sat on her desk. Oh this is so nice she thought and looked outside the window. The sun was shining and she had a marvelous view to the river. Suddenly she heard a voice behind her.
“Hi”
Nora looked at the lady standing behind her.
“Hello” she answered.
“I'm Jennifer” the lady said
“I'm Nora, nice to meet you”
“You too. I know that you are new here so I just wanted to welcome you and introduce myself.”
“That is so nice of you. Actually, is my first week and I was not able to meet everyone.”
Jennifer smiled.
“Yes, I know how it is. Got some time for a short break? We can go to the cafeteria.”
“Sounds great” Nora said.
2 floors below.
“Mark, would you like to take a coffee break?” Niko asked him.
Mark raised his head from his computer and looked at him.
“Yes” he answered “I will fall asleep otherwise”.
They stood up and went to the first floor where the company's cafeteria was. They entered and saw that it was not that crowded.
They took a cup of coffee each and went to a table in the middle of the room.
Jennifer opened the door and they entered the cafeteria.
“Have you been here before?”
“Yes, on the first day, when the lady from the facilities was giving me the tour.”
“Oh yes, is really nice here” Jennifer said.
Nora took a quick look around and her eye caught Mark sitting with Niko.
“I agree” she said whilst starring at them.
“Come, let's sit down and have a cup of coffee.”
Nora followed Jennifer but her eyes were still locked at Mark. He seemed so concentrated on his discussion with his colleague, he didn't even noticed her. She heard him laughing out loud and Jennifer looked at him as well.
“That is Mark White she said. One of our finest engineers. And one of the most handsome.”
“I see” Nora said starring at him.
At the same time Mark raised his eyes and saw Nora looking at him.
He looked at her for a few seconds. Then he smiled and waved.
“I see you met him already” Jennifer said smiling
“I met him the day of my interview. We took the same elevator.” Nora said.
“Hmm. Be careful! Really nice guy, handsome, a gentleman but a womanizer. “
Nora smiled. You have no idea she thought.
“Don't worry” Nora said.
Back at Mark’s table.
“Do you know her?” Niko asked Mark.
“That’s the woman that I told you about a month ago”
“The one that you thought you know?”
“Yes”
“Really beautiful” Niko commented
“Yes” Mark said always staring at her. “Apparently she took the job” he said
“Well, she is here” Niko said.
“Yes, she is” Mark said and fell into deep thoughts...
3 months later.
Nora was packing her stuff, getting ready to leave the office.
“Are you done for today?” Jennifer asked.
“Yes, that was it.” She said smiling
“Great! So I guess I will see you at the party?”
“Yes, I just need to go home, to get ready and I will join you.”
“Great” said Jennifer. “Do you know how to get there?”
“I have the address” Nora said.
“Perfect. Don't be late!” Jennifer said by raising her finger.
Nora laughed.
“I promise I will be there as soon as possible.”
Jennifer nodded and left the office.
Nora was about to pick her car keys from her purse when her phone rung. She saw Phil's name on the screen.
“Hi Phil” she answered
“Hey there! How r u?”
“I am fine, what about you?”
“All good here too. So, today is the day?”
“Yes, today is the Summer party.”
“Are you sure that he will be there?”
“No, but it is the company’s party. Everyone will be there and he really likes parties so I don’t think that he will miss it”
“Yes, you are right! Are you ready to see him?”
“Yes I am. I mean I saw him from time to time here, but we never had the chance to speak.”
“And there is no sign that he remembered? Not even a bit?”
“No, unfortunately nothing. But hey, he will remember. We did not had the time to speak so, I hope that today we will have the chance.”
“Yes, fingers crossed” Phil said.
“Phil, I have to go now. Will keep you updated.”
“OK, have fun.”
“Thank you, wish you the same” Nora said and hung up the phone.
She grabbed her bag and left the office.
Few hours later, she reached the park and saw the queue in front of the entrance. She looked around. It was a warm evening. The park was green with colorful small lights being put carefully on the trees. She saw her colleagues in front of her. All dressed up. After all, it was a black tie party so they all have to look nice. She finally reached the entrance. They gave her her name tag and she entered the venue. She was looking around for her colleagues and suddenly she heard Jennifer's voice screaming.
“Noraaaa, here, here.”
She saw her few minutes later waving at her and she moved towards her. While walking, she noticed that a few men were looking at her. After all, she looked awesome in her white dress.
“Oh my God” said Jennifer looking at Nora. “You look absolutely amazing tonight.”
Nora smiled.
“You too” she returned the compliment.
“Thank you” Jennifer said and they laughed.
Pauline came also closer to them.
“So there you are” she said smiling
“Pauline” said Jennifer and she gave her a hug.
Nora smiled at her.
“Hi Pauline” she said.
“Oh my God Nora, you look awesome tonight!” said Pauline.
“I told her the same” said Jennifer.
Nora smiled
“Thank you ladies, you look gorgeous too.”
Suddenly she felt a warm breeze on her neck. She turned her head and there he was. Standing between other people, looking absolutely stunning and he was staring at her.
Nora felt her knees shaking.
She turned her head immediately to her colleagues and hoped that they would not notice how nervous she was.
Oh my God, she thought. He is here, he looks absolutely perfect and he is looking at me. Breathe, do not break now, just breathe.
Jennifer noticed that Nora's mood changed suddenly.
“Hey” she said “is everything ok?”
Nora looked at her and forced a smile to her face.
“Yes” she said “everything is good.”
“Are you sure? It seemed to me as if you got lost on your thoughts”
Nora took a deep breath.
“No, no” she said. “Everything is fine.”
Pauline grabbed their hands.
“Oh my God, this is my favorite song. Come on let's dance.” She said and led them to the dancefloor.
