Hated By My Mate

Chapter 2

Kai's Pov

Kai shook his head at the memory before he takes a deep breath. It was over ten years ago he thought to himself as his left hand reached up and traced the scar that ran along the right side of his face.

If he was in wolf form when he was punished it wouldn't have been there, but because he was punished while in his human form as well as attacked from a wolfs claw the scar he was carrying will remain with him forever

People said it made him look intimidating and powerful, but he didn't view it that way, the scar to him is a constant reminder of who he was and what he's been through.

He might have been a feared and powerful Alpha to his packs, but the scar reminds him that he's still the bastard that his mother abandoned and his biological father hated.

If it wasn't for his adoptive father Sam he would have been banished or worst just killed. Sam wasn't a loving father, not that he mistreated him, but he raised Kai like how a warrior should be raised.

While his sister and the other pups played he was busy being pounded into the ground by a warrior or by Sam himself, his training was more intense than the other pups.

At first Kai didn't understand why but once he became a teenager he understand why his father was hard on him than his own daughter.

Sam didn't have any son's and he knew that once he was gone without an heir there would be infighting in the pack. If that happened that would have been disastrous not only for the pack but the human towns and villages within their packs large territory.

So he needed someone strong who could take over when he was gone and that person was to be Kai.

Kai breathed in a deep sigh, the cold air turning his breath into mist. His packhouse was covered in snow as it snowed constantly in the north for months on end, yet his pack wasn't bothered by it.

They thrived in the winter as they wolves of the north and northern wolves don't let a little cold stop them.

Kai suddenly winced as he remembered a memory of him with his foster father Sam, when he was a pup and just came to the north he used to whine and complain about the cold constantly.

Sam's solution was to throw him into a cold lake and wouldn't allow him to climb out until kai stopped complaining about the cold.

Kai heard someone chuckling. "you think it was funny?" Kai asked his inner wolf. " It was quite amusing," his inner wolf said to him.

" I was tormented for days by your teeth chattering and constant complaints, he found a way to shut you up why didn't I think of that solution earlier".

Kai growled at him. " I'm glad it was entertaining for you," kai said nonchalantly staring out the window.

" You wound me, Kai, I wouldn't have let anything happen to you, " Zeus said but kai waved him off.

" Yeah yeah save your apologies for someone who cares fluffy" Kai said with a wicked smile slowly creeping across his face.

*Growl*

" You know I hate that name," he said as Kai smirked. " Yes, yes I do," he said adjusting his fur coat around his shoulder as he turned away from the window.

Alpha's have duties after all.

All around his pack members went about completing the task there were given by his beta, But at the sight of their alpha, they stopped and bared their throats to him in a sign of respect and submission.

Kai could feel Zeus holding his head high and proud and Kai did the same his stoic mask firmly set in place.

But at the sound of his daughter's voice, it was instantly replaced by a smile. " Papa! your back" she shouted running towards him, her nanny trailing not too far behind her.

Kai smiled as he knelt to her level and opened his arms wide, she leaped into his arms and hugged him while giggling.

He stood up with her in his arms and spun her around as she squealed with childlike glee before he stopped and they both placed their foreheads together in greeting.

" How's my little princess?" he asked as he walked with his daughter sitting on top of his shoulder. " Today was nice, I learned about our pack's history from my tutor then I won the race against the other kids today," she said.

"That's my girl", he said holding his hand for a hi-five. She placed her palm against his giggling. They continued walking down the halls towards the dining room,

Kai continued to listen to his daughter as she told him about her day, he mostly listened until one specific question caught his attention.

" Papa are we going to visit mama's grave today?" she asked him Kai continued to look straightforward. " Well visit her soon," he said.

They both soon entered the dining hall where the rest of the pack were waiting around a large table filled with food. But they all went quiet once they saw their alpha enter.

They all bared their necks in submission until Kai nods indicating that they could continue as they were. As he walked towards the end of the table, he saw his sister Celine and her twin sons James and Aiden waiting beside his chair.

" Oye give me my niece," Celine said holding her hands out towards Bella. Kai took Bella off his shoulder and handed her to her aunt who kissed her on the cheek.

Bella giggled " Aunty Celine could you braid my hair like yours again please?" she asked. " Didn't I braid your hair yesterday?" she asked throwing Kai an accusing glare as he smiled innocently at her as he took a seat.

" Yes, you did but Papa messed it up again," Bella said. Celine glared at him before looking back at her niece. " Ok sweetheart once were done here well go up to my room and have some fun ok"

All the pack ate their breakfast and gossiped, the main conversation was about rumors that the Alpha king and his family were coming to the north's annual winter festival.

They hadn't attended any in the past ten years and now him coming here could only mean one thing.

The situation in the other regions must have been getting worse. This was troubling news because if the south fell then the east and the west would then come under threat from the rogues as well and if they also fell then the north would be next.

Kai looked at the members of his packs, all of them oblivious of the turmoil happening elsewhere, he then turned his attention towards his sister and his nephews. Celine was busy talking with Bella, while the boy played with their food.

Aiden was a spitting image of his mother with her curly blond hair and dark blue eyes, while James resembled his father with his short brown hair and green eyes.

Celine was the luna of the silver creek pack and her Husband the twin's father was kai's brother-in-law.

The north was ruled by four packs the Blood moon, Silver creek, silver hallow, and Band blue moon pack.

Kai was the current Alpha of the Blood moon pack as well as the silver hallow pack after he challenged their old alpha and won, instead of exiling or killing him he offered him to the choice of becoming his beta and he accepted.

The twin's father is the Alpha of the silver creek pack, while the Blue moon pack is ruled by a close ally Alpha Ethan.

Together these four packs make up the northern territory with Kia's two packs being the largest and the most powerful of the four.

In Kai's personal opinion the other regions could burn for all he cared, but as a leader, he knew that if the king's packs fell, then his packs will be next.

So whether he likes it or not war would come to the north sooner or later. The King would be arriving tomorrow to discuss the north joining the fight. Kia couldn't care less about seeing William or the Queen.

The only person he was somewhat excited to see was his little sister. As for his fated one, now the future Queen, Kai was indifferent towards her, at first he was angry.

Then sad at the thought of her being with someone else but now it's just cold indifference. Not even Zeus cares about her anymore.

" And that's fine by me, I already have a mate," he thought to himself. As if summoned by his thoughts Niome walked into the room and walked towards Celine and took Bella from her.

She kissed Bella on the cheek and then sat down beside Kai with Bella in her arms. She's not Bella's Biological mother neither is Kai her biological father, he adopted Bella after her mother escaped with her from a group of hostile rogues.

Her mother with her dying breath pleaded with Kai that he took care of the baby. As he took her from her and then looked down at Bella he promised her mother that he would take care of her.

And with that, she closed her eyes and died with a peaceful smile on her face knowing that her daughter would be safe.

As Kai walked with the sleeping baby in his arms, she shivered from the cold wind blowing and he felt Zeus take over slightly and raised his body temperature and the baby soon became warm.

Right then and there they both made a promise that they would protect and love her as their daughter.

His sister had taken it upon herself to help him raise Bella as well, she's not treated any differently than her cousins who both were arguing to be quickly scolded by their mother tthe boy's cheeks soon turned crimson from embarrassment

Kai chuckled as he remembered his Adoptive father similarly scolding him and Celine who fought.

Of all the traits she could have inherited from their father, she inherited his no-nonsense approach.

" Morning" Niome kissed Kai on the cheek before she sits beside Kai and began feeding Bella from her plate. She's been in Bella's life ever since Kai claimed her and she's been a good mother to her.

That's why Kayla coming makes little difference to him, he's already claimed someone, someone who's proven she's a good mother that will bare his pups one day.

He clenched his jaw as his eyes went red. No one is going to come before him and his new family.

Especially someone who betrayed him.
