Emily could hear the explosion roaring, leaving a sharp ring in its wake. Her body quivering from the tsunami, she lurched back. Her heart hurt in her chest as smoke billowed from the structure Daniel was still trapped in. She went into panic, thoughts of him trapped under the debris, wounded, or worse filling her head.
"Daniel!" she yelled, her voice breaking with desperation as she battled the officer's hold. Her legs felt weak, the excitement running through her causing her motions to be frenetic, jumbled. She had to respond to him—now.
Miss, you are not allowed to enter there! Tightening his hold on her arm, the officer yelled. "It's too risky!."
