The fragments of reality slipping in and out of focus hung before Emily as a broken film caught between the light of oneness and the cruel, merciless glare. She struggled to remember in which dark she was fighting. Her body was heavy, pressed down by an unseen weight; there was ringing in her ears. Dazed, she fought against the fog of nothingness that wanted to consume her utterly. Her senses had heightened with the subsiding ringing in her ears.
