AFTER THE TEACHER LEFT
Natalia's POV
As soon as the teacher stepped out, the classroom erupted into noise.
Some girls gathered in front of a small mirror, fixing their makeup and giggling. Others danced around, laughing and joking with their friends. The boys were either talking about sports or scrolling through their phones.
I sat quietly, watching.
Just as I was starting to zone out, the bell rang.
That's when he walked in.
Nathan Argent.
The room seemed to shift the moment he entered. Conversations quieted, and every girl's gaze followed him, their eyes filled with anticipation. Some straightened their skirts, others played with their hair. They were all waiting, hoping, that he would sit next to them.
I kept my head down, but my curiosity got the best of me. I glanced up—and our eyes met.
A sharp jolt ran through me.
His piercing gaze locked onto mine.
I quickly looked away.
From the corner of my eye, I noticed him scanning the room. Then, he started walking. Toward me.
I stiffened.
The whispers in the room grew louder as he stopped in front of me.
"You're in my seat."
I blinked up at him.
His voice was smooth yet firm, like someone who was used to being obeyed.
I frowned. "There are no fixed seats in class."
Nathan's expression remained unreadable, but his tone was absolute.
"The window seat is mine. That's the rule."
Something about the way he said it made it clear he wasn't used to being challenged.
I debated arguing but decided against it. No need to draw attention to myself.
With a sigh, I picked up my bag and was about to move when—
He pulled out the chair next to him.
"Sit."
The entire class went silent.
I hesitated, but eventually sat down.
And then, a voice echoed in my head.
"MATE."
My entire body froze.
I turned sharply to look at Nathan, but his face was completely blank, as if he hadn't heard anything.
Did… did he hear that? Or was it just me?
One thing was certain—this school wasn't going to be the fresh start I had hoped for.
