“They’ll probably be like that for hours,” Stephanie said, motioning to the men as they all sat around the kitchen island talking in low voices.
“I know Joe said not to be sorry, but I feel awful,” Chelsie admitted to her new friend.
“He’s right, though. I mean, from what I know your brother’s a real piece of work. He shouldn’t have drug you into any of that.”
“Is it bad that I still feel bad for him. I wish I could help him protect him from it all.”
“No, it’s not bad, it’s human nature. Especially since he’s your brother. I couldn’t imagine being in your shoes. I’d want to help him too. Jake would probably be acting exactly like Joe as well. Shifter men are as possessive as they are protective. It can be suffocating sometimes.”
“You seem happy together, though.”
