Chapter 14: Cruise Night J.T.’s face was almost ready to film by the time he moved out. I even helped the kid pack, not that he had much more than the clothes I’d helped him pick out back in Charleston. I only had to remind him once to fold the clothes rather than stuff everything into the suitcases. I’d loaned him enough to buy another bag for his toiletries and shoes, and he’d found a couple of those plastic milk crates and filled them with (unhealthy) groceries. Again, I had to ignore an odd little sensation, one that reminded me a bit of leaving for college. And after all, I would be seeing the boy every day at the studio. It was ridiculous to have even a twinge at his departure. Once I’d seen him settled in the new place, I came home and stretched out on my sofa to enjoy the peace.
