Chapter14

ADRIAN Two weeks later, there's yet no news about Ada’s whereabouts. I thought maybe she ran off with the man she cheated on me with. Maybe it's an Alpha. His face was blurred in the video I saw. That's why I'm so consistent in searching for her in all the packs. But I found out that she cheated on me with a commoner. I found the man she cheated on me with. I couldn't believe she cheated with a nobody. I'm yet to find where I go wrong. I was there for her. I loved and cared for her. I gave her everything she wanted. And yet she cheated on me with a nobody. I was so mad that I nearly beat the man to death. Unfortunately the next day, he was found dead in his house. He committed suicide. He left a note, saying that he can no longer bear the guilt and doesn't deserve to live. Eric is still with the narrative that she's innocent. He was actually the one that found the man dead in his home. He went there to investigate him. He believes the man is lying. Since she didn't cheat on me with an Alpha, that means she's not hiding in any pack. And now there's only one option, the human cities. There are lots of human cities that surround our pack. In each country, we have different packs. It's like a city to the outside world, but the only people that live in that city are werewolves. We do this to protect ourselves. And we are in agreement with the government. The government I mean is like the president or the king and few high officials. Apparently, they are the only ones that know of our existence. We do business with them too. Also, only Alphas know about this. We were taught about it when we trained to become Alphas. Every other member of each pack believes that not even a single human knows of our existence. It's for their own good as we were told. The rule and agreement between us and the government is to make sure that humans don't know about us. That's why we are not allowed to live in any human cities. Hence the creation of the hunters who kill werewolves that breaks that rule. Our investigation is still ongoing. Though there have not been any leads yet, I won't give up. I've gathered the names of the human city around us and we will look through all of them. I can't let go of the woman that hurt me. I'm pathetic, I know, but I won't stop looking for her until I find her. Even if she doesn't want me any more. I just want to make sure that she's safe. Especially since I haven't found out who the person that threatened her life is. And I also want answers from her. I want to know why she did what she did. Even though it will hurt me, I still need answers from her. I still haven't announced my divorce yet and the council are impatient. They want me to announce it and also focus on finding a new Luna. Some are saying that Sarah is a good candidate while others oppose it. I don't really care about their opinions. No one is taking Ada’s position. She's still Luna and my wife. My main focus now is to find her and keep her safe. And I will also find out who was threatening her life and get rid of them. That's the only way she will be safe here. Rumors are flying. People are asking questions. The pack members haven't seen their Luna for more than two months now. I warned the elders not to let the truth out. I told them that I will tell the pack members when I'm ready, but I don't think that time will ever come. My mother is coming back very soon and I still don't know how she will take what happened. Everything is just f****d up. Why is it so hard to find Ada? Where in the world is she hiding? There's no record of her leaving the country. I've checked all the airports including local ones. The thought that she could be dead and that's why I haven't found her yet sometimes flies through my mind, but I won't believe it. She's alive. I can feel it. I have to find her before something bad happens to her. I won't forgive myself if it does. I'm keeping an eye on Juliane. She is one of the people close to Ada. So far, my private investigator hasn't gotten anything from her. “Don't you think it's strange?” Eric asks. I don't even hear him walk in. “What?” He takes a seat, his face deep with thinking. “The man whom you said that Ada cheated on you with. Why did he suddenly die after you found him? I just have a feeling that his death feels strange.” “Are you saying that he was murdered?” “Exactly. The whole suicide thing and note doesn't make sense.” I sigh and rub my temples. “Please Eric, I have a lot going on in my mind right now. Don't add this to it. We checked the CCTV, no body broke into his home and we could clearly see that it was suicide. The evidence was there.” “f**k Adrian, you are not getting my point here,” he says, sounding annoyed. “And what the f**k is your point. Let's say he was murdered. By who?” “By people who don't want you to know the truth!” “What f*****g truth!” I snapped back. “The truth is that Ada is innocent. She didn't bully Sarah. She didn't manipulate the elders to make Sarah leave the pack. She didn't kidnap Sarah and lock her up for years. She didn't cheat on you.” I stare at him. His chest heaving. He looks damn serious with what he said. “Are you saying that the elders lied? That Ada didn't threaten them with their weaknesses and force them to make Sarah leave the pack. That Sarah lied about her k********g. Or her parents lied about them getting a call from Sarah after she escaped. That Owen lied about the places Ada goes when she tells me she went to the foundation or she went to visit her grandma. Or the fact that we have tested those videos and photos and prove that they are real. Or the fact that some people came up to testify of Ada’s bullying. Tell me!” I spat, anger consuming me. He thinks that I didn't also do my research before concluding. I also want to believe that Ada is innocent but every evidence points at her. “Why can't you say something. Are your tongues tied now?” “I know, but do you think that Ada can pull that off?” “She was Luna. She gained power and wealth. Money can do anything. Money always leaves our joint account and the excuse is that she uses them for charity. I believed her until I realized that she only donated a little to the foundation.” Eric stands there, staring at me not knowing what to say. We both saw Ada as an angel. A pure innocent soul. It will be hard to believe that she could do something like that. “And do you know the funny part? I still love her. Despite knowing what she did, I still love her and it f*****g hurts.”
