Chapter 7 **SOPHIA**

“What is going on”? I asked my parents. Anna looked at Derek before turning back to look at me. She took a deep breath before saying “When we found you alone in the woods, we weren't out hiking. We were hunting. We knew you were not one of us, but neither of us could leave a helpless baby alone in the woods. Even though we were the ones that killed…. your parents….” She trailed off in a whisper. I looked at both of them in disbelief, backing up until my back hit the wall. “You killed my parents”? I asked, my voice cracking, before i started to feel the rage building up inside of me. “Calm Down Sophia. Let us finish. ” Derek warned deeply. Anna stepped towards me with pleading eyes, but Derek grabbed her by the arm. “Dont.” He said. “Sophia, your parents were werewolves, and we are werewolf hunters. Your kind poses a serious threat to humans every single day. Your kind kills people. We had no idea that you were with your parents that day. We felt horrible for what we did and we took you in as our own and raised you. But we both knew that this day was coming. Your 18th Birthday is tomorrow, which means that you can no longer stay with us. You are going to start phasing into your wolf form and you will be too dangerous to be around humans anymore. Which also means that you will soon be an enemy to us. You will not be able to come back here, Sophia, or we will have no choice but to kill you also.” Derek says, leaving me in shock. The amount of emotions I felt all at once was overwhelming. I was angry, hurt, and confused. But somehow I knew they were telling me the truth. “Your mate is here. You need to hurry up and pack your stuff before he kills himself out there. The entire yard is laced with wolfsbane, which is poison to your kind” Anna says to me. She practically has tears in her eyes. I knew she didn't want me to leave, but i think that the both felt that it was the right thing to do. “My mate”? I asked, confused. Anna gave a tiny smile. “Your soulmate. Werewolves find their life long mates at 18 years old. He is your new home now” she says to me. My mind immediately went to the man i have been dreaming about every night. What if it was him? As confused and scared as i was that my life was being turned upside down, i knew that i needed to get out of this house quick. I ran upstairs and threw my clothes in my duffel bag as quickly as i could before running back downstairs to leave the house. Anna and Derek both gave me a big hug before saying “No matter what happens, you will always be our girl.” Anna walked me to the front door. “He is very weak. Take him off of our land boundary, deeper into the woods so he can recover quickly. Do not be shocked by his appearance.” She says to me before opening the door to reveal a very sick looking young man covered in red blisters all over his body, laying on the porch. Anna quickly slammed the door and bolted it as I stepped outside. I gasped in horror. He looked like he had just been boiled alive. I grabbed his arm to help him up but quickly yelped in pain as he burned my hand. He looked up at me and we made eye contact for a split second before he passed out, but I recognized those eyes. It was him. My heart leaped in my chest but i quickly pushed my feelings aside and grabbed his arm again. This time, I didn't let go. Crying out in pain, I yelled at him to get up, which he listened. I managed to drag him far out into the woods before we both collapsed.

I was woken to the feeling that i was being watched. Slowly opening my eyes, i was met with those gorgeous olive green eyes staring back at me. I quickly sat up, looking at him, and then myself. All of our burns were completely gone and I no longer felt any pain. He laughed, which sent shivers down my spine. He had the voice of a god. “We heal very quickly” He said to me with a grin on his face. I melted at the sound of his voice. All I could do was stare back at him. His accent was the most amazing sound that I had ever heard. He scooted closer to me, reaching his hands out and cupping my face. His breath hitched in his chest and he closed his eyes. “I have wanted to do this for SO long, you have no idea” He groans, almost making me moan at the satisfaction in his voice. He leans back and opens his eyes to get a full look at me, but he looks different now. His once green eyes were now black, but somehow that didn't scare me. “Your eyes” I whispered to him. “Yours too” He says, emitting a low growl full of lust. “My name is Eric Renaldi” He breathes. I couldn't help but to shiver again. Good god, my body was trying to get me laid right here and right now. “I’m Soph…” “Sophia Bane” He cuts me off with a devilish grin. “I know who you are. Im the one that traveled across the country to find you” He leans his face dangerously close to mine, our lips nearly touching. I wanted so bad to break the space between us and take that sexy bottom lip between my teeth.. What the hell am i thinking?! I quickly pull myself back and stand up, trying to compose myself. He laughed again, “Dont be shy. Our nature is to mate first, ask questions later” He comes up behind me without me even hearing him and nibbles on my ear. “f**k!” I half moaned turning around to push him away, but that daring smile on his face made me want to pull him even closer. I resisted though and scolded him “You dog”! I yell. He smirked at me, “Well you're not exactly wrong. We will have plenty of time later to finish what we started later. Let's get back to my car, My cousin is waiting for us.” He began to jog off, leaving me to follow him. I rolled my eyes at his response, but deep down, I guess my werewolf hormones, really wanted to screw his brains out.

We ran for what felt like forever before finally making it to the road. I stopped and gasped when i saw the car he was headed for. He heard me and turned around. “What, you don't like it? We can go buy something else in a few days after we get home” He says, leaving my jaw to hit the ground. This guy, my mate, had to be rich. “You own a f*****g Lambo”? He nods his head. “I have a few of them, but this is one of my favorites” He says. Before i could say anything else, the drivers door opens and a young man stepped out, walking over to us. “This is my cousin, Jacob Renaldi”. Eric introduces us. Jacob pulls me in for a hug, which doesn't sit well with Eric. He growled loudly making Jacob jump back and cower. “It’s so nice to finally meet you, miss Sophia” Jacob says sheepishly. I guess werewolves are extremely protective over their mates, even around other family members, so i let his behavior slide. My mate opened the passenger door of the car for me, letting me get in. Jacob hopped in the backseat and handed me a bottle of water. I thanked him for it before chugging it down like I hadn't drank in years. Eric sat down in the driver's seat and started the engine, which sounded like a formula 1 race car. “Are we ready to finally head home?” He asks us excitedly. “Hell yeah”!! Jacob yells from the back seat. Eric looks at me and I nod to him with a grin on my face. I tried to block out all of the events that had just happened earlier that day, knowing that my life was about to have a completely fresh start. Tires squealed as we launched off like a rocket. Damn, this boy was so attractive.

“How did you learn how to drive like this” i asked him, hours later after Jacob had fallen asleep in the backseat. He smiles at me, why does his smile have to be so sexy?! “I race professionally in my free time” He answers. “Do you have any hobbies?” He asks me. “I like archery…” I said trailing off after i realized what i just said. His face hardened briefly before he relaxed again. “ I’m sorry” I apologize, “I kind of lived a pretty sheltered life.” He reaches over and grabs my hand. “Don't you ever apologize for something that you couldn't have controlled. I just can't believe they taught you how to use the same weapon that they killed your parents with” He said softly. I never thought about that until now, which sent a surge of anger through my veins for Anna and Derek. How dare they.. “ Sophia, breathe.” Derek says, quickly pulling off the road, stopping the car. He lets himself out of the car and runs to my door, opening it and unbuckling me. “Come sit over here for a minute” He pulls me out of the car and takes me around to the drivers side and sits me down up against the car. The drivers side was sheltered from ongoing traffic making it the safest place to be right now. I knew what he was doing; my body was threatening to phase from the anger I was feeling, and i didnt know how to make it stop. He crouched down in front of me, his eyes locking onto mine. “Just look at me and breathe. Try to slow your breathing down” He says softly. Which was hard to do, considering the fact that looking at him only made my heart pound harder. His eyes suddenly turn black again, but after he blinked a few times they switched back to green. “Why do your eyes change color?” I ask, trying to divert my mind off of my parents. He looks down at the ground before lifting his head back up to look at me again. And he was blushing. Actually blushing. “My eyes change color because I want you.” He responds with sincerity in his voice. “And so do yours” He adds. Now it was my turn to blush. “Why me though”? I ask, my voice barely a whisper. “I am nothing special” His eyes hardened at my statement and he cupped my face fiercely. “You are the most beautiful woman i have ever seen in my life. You are the Sun, Stars, and the moon all combined into one. And most of all, you are my mate.” He says slowly, trying to make it all sink in. I suddenly squirm, feeling the effects that his words just had on me. The heat between my legs gave away the fact that I was now dripping wet, and I'm sure, like he told me before, that my eyes gave me away. He took in a deep breath, his eyes suddenly turning black again. ‘s**t, he can smell me too.’ I thought to myself. “f**k, Sophia. How am i supposed to resist you if you keep doing this to me” He moans. I realize now that he isn't quite in control of himself anymore. But neither was I. His hands, which were still caressing my face, began to wander. He ran his thumb over my bottom lip and I could barely contain myself anymore. I wanted him to take me right here, right now, on the side of the Highway. He ran his hand up under my shirt, sending shudders through my body. He slid his inside of my bra and cupped my breast, sending me over the edge of control. I finally broke the space between us and kissed him hard, which he returned passionately, growling into my mouth. Suddenly, nothing else in the entire world existed other than us. I pushed him onto his back , climbing on top of him kissing his neck. I slid my hands under his shirt, feeling his rock hard abs and pecs. “Holy f**k” I whispered, feeling his growing member through his pants and between my legs. He was at the point where he was beyond being able to control himself anytime soon. “UMMM GUYS”!! Jacob shouted out of the window behind me. Eric was pulled halfway out of his lust trance and gave Jacob the nastiest sounding snarl i’ve ever heard. He was pissed!! He got up off of the ground, pulling me up with him. “I think it would be best if you and Jacob switch seats for the remainder of the trip” He said coldly, before getting back in the car. I couldn't help but to be slightly hurt by the coldness in his voice, but I understood his reasoning. I guess werewolves do not handle blue balls well either! Jacob and I switched seats and we set out on the road, once again.
