Chapter 7
I went to school the next day again, as usual. When walking in I saw the wonderful boy we call Connor. He was scurrying ahead of me. I quickly caught up to him.
"Hey." I said playfully hitting his shoulder.
"What's up." He replied, clearly not paying much attention to me. He was ruffling through some papers. For once, he had his glasses on. Connor told me he didn't like to wear them that much since he got made fun of more then usual. I honestly think he didn't look that bad while wearing them.
"Well, not much, but I can see your quite busy." I laughed. He rolled his eyes and kept searching.
"What are you even looking for?" I asked snatching the papers away from him. I started to pretending to be him, frantically searching through the papers.
Flustered he said, "Crystal! Stop it!"He yanked my hair hard. I let out a painful yeeeowwww sound. I rubbed the spot where he pulled.
"Jeez, here take your stupid papers." I through them back at him.
"Wait, C-Crystal. I'm sorry!" I started walking away so I didn't have to hear him. He kept on pleading for me to come back. I wasn't really that angry at him. It's just he was always so busy with being worried about school. Like he's a straight A student. The kid just needs to let loose a little.
After that fiasco, it was time for science class. The teacher passed out a paper, row by row, stating our upcoming project. Agh, science projects were terrible! You had to go to the library, and go on the internet, and do a whole big presentation. If the presentation wasn't big, you would get an F. That's how it goes with Mrs. Watson. If you don't go all out, you fail.
"You know what I want from this children!" She sang harmoniously.
"Yes Mrs Watson." We sang back. When I came home from school I told my mom about the project. She was frustrated also because with Mrs Watson its assumed that your parents will help.
"Do you wanna go to the library now? The faster the better.." I agreed. We headed out to the local library. When we were on our way she made me a promise. She said that we could get shamrock shakes after we got all the books we needed. That seemed well worth it!
Our library was really awesome. That sounds so nerdy but its true! It had a huge dome on top where light shone through. It had a giant "tree" in the middle where kids could go and read. And so much more. I just always thought it was so darn cool.
"Let's start in the earth science section." We could do the project on any science section we wanted, and on anything in that section. Earth, life, and physical.
"This one looks pretty good..." My mom picked up a book. She flipped it back and forth carefully. I wondered over to the Life science section. I found two eye-catching books. I took them over to a big comfortable chair and starting scanning them carefully. Blah, blah, insects and birds and blah, blah. I looked directly overhead and saw the beautiful dome. I observed the rest of the library too. A few toddlers played around the tree. Some familiar kids from my school checked out books. Everything seemed in perfect balance. But one thing. There was someone sitting in a chair at the other side of the library, with a book covering his or her face. They were slouched in the chair. I tried sitting up more to see who it was. And I wish I didn't, I really wish I didn't. I saw who I dreaded to see. The person who I didn't know, yet was all too familiar. The man who was my worst nightmare, and my self thought enemy. The one who I truly never wanted to encounter. Adam.
