Chapter 14

Chapter 14 I thought I comprehended what Frankie just told me. I really did, at the moment. But about five minutes after she left the room to go to do laundry, I realized I had no clue what just happened. I felt terrible for her in fact, though. She had been under Jays control for years. Now she's terrified to even try to leave. I wasn't told by her that she'd been threatened in any from. She did tell me though that "Jay likes a mystery." There was still too many secrets to discover. I didn't even know what some of things I needed to discover we're. "When does he get back from work?" I asked while putting my breakfast plate in the sink. "Around 5 or so." "What does he even do?" "He's a greeter at Walmart.." Frankie got sidetracked since she was trying to fold some towels. Walmart? Well he didn't go to high school so I guess that is the best job he could find. "So...what do we do until then? Figure out an escape plan?" I questioned eagerly. If she was scared to escape, and I wasn't, we could work together possibly. I was clever, she was maybe smart, I don't know. Now I knew she was on my side, though. "You must not understand, Crystal. I can't just, leave. Even if it's this easy. He trusts me. And he would find us in no time. That was one of the crimes Mary committed. We can't do it." Shot down. If she was really against Jay she couldn't be fast enough to escape. I'd be her accomplice. Her partner in crime. We could escape together. Find a way to hide for a while, or long enough so we'd be safe. "Ah. Fine. I guess I understand." Then I walked away to my room. But then I realized I don't want to spend any time there because it was sorta depressing. I retrieved back into the living room. I flipped on the t.v. I watched some lifetime movies for a while. Theres nothing really good on television at 10 in the morning. After about an hour I knew what I should really be watching. The news! Duh, duh, duh. "Late last night, there was a tragic fire at The Wilcox home near downtown Harrisburg." Harrisburg news was never that exciting. They did about a 10 minute excerpt on the fire. "There was a break in a home right down the street from the Wilcox." Another 10 minute excerpt on that. Then a bunch of commercials. I slowly peaked around the recliner I was siting in. Frankie was no where in sight. I just wanted to make sure that she didn't see I was watching the news. She might come and turn it off. "Yesterday at the local library, a child suddenly became missing." I perked up instantly. "Her mother was found locked in the bathroom. The library employees did not find her until he library closed at 6pm. Here is Delania Redding." My mom appeared on the screen. "If anyone has seen my daughter, Crystal, please contact me at 320-5550. I just, want, need, her back. And if anyone lays a finger on her your ass will get sued! And I swear to God you'll go to jail for a long time!" By this time my mom was in tears. I covered my face and cried with her. She was so distraught. This made me so worried about her. Why, God, why did this have to happen to me? "No one saw Crystal Redding get kidnapped or harmed in anyway at the library. She just vanished. There is also still the question that the 12 year old girl left the library alone. Watch us, News channel 3 for more details on Crystal." The newscaster. They aired some more commercials. When they returned all they said was to watch tomorrow if there was any updates on me. I felt like I was being watched not only by Jay now, but the public. It was mildly strange. It was noon. I walked over to the fridge, and Frankie came rushing in. Right as I was about to open it she stopped me. "Here, wait, I'll make you lunch." Her eyes got all big. Calm down women I just wanted a sandwich. "What do you want?" She smiled and flipped her hair back. "A sandwich." "Okay, what do you want on it?" She started rummaging through the fridge. "Hm. Mayonnaise, bacon, lettuce, and turkey." Like a programmed robot, Frankie removed the exact items from the fridge. I patiently waited for her to prepare the meal. Wow, this kidnapper sure was a good chef. "I know your not a little kid really, but there's some old toys Jay found that he got for Mary when she was little. Over there in the corner. Maybe you could find something to entertain yourself for a while?" I wiped my mouth and went over to the toys. Some old baby dolls, barbies, dress up costumes. In the very bottom of the tub they were in was a 24 count box of crayons and a few coloring books. I started scanning through the books. On every page where there were people, they were defaced. There was always an arrow pointing to one of the people on the page and it said Jay. On some pages there was an arrow pointing to the girls saying Me. One picture was awfully disturbing. It was originally blank. But Mary had drawn a picture of Jay pointing to her. Except Mary drew herself naked. "Oh my god.." I murmured.
