Laura groggily opened my eyes to the sound of soft chimes, her head throbbing with a dull ache. As she sat up, she was met with the warm smiles of the maids, who were already waiting beside her bed.
"Good morning, Your Highness," one of them chimed, curtsying low. "The bath water is ready for you."
She swung her legs over the side of the bed, feeling a bit disoriented. The maids helped her into the warm bath, and she let out a contented sigh as the soothing water enveloped her.
After the bath, they helped her into a stunning black dress that hugged her curves in all the right places. She felt like a true princess as she made her way to meet Alexander in the dining hall.
(Alexander's POV)
I sat on a chair, waiting for Laura as I sipped my coffee as I gazed around the hall. My mind was preoccupied with the upcoming meeting with the elders and the pack. I knew they wouldn't take kindly to my decision to make Laura my Luna.
But I didn't care. She was my mate, and I'd fight everything to make sure we were together.
Just then, the door opened, and Laura walked in. My breath caught in my throat as I took in the sight of her. She looked stunning in a black dress that accentuated her curves.
She looks breathtaking, I said in a low and husky voice, I can't wait to announce her as my Luna to the pack."
I walked over to her, taking her hand in mine. She smiled up at me, and I felt my heart skip a beat. The only challenge I have now is that the elders will go to all lengths to oppose this marriage and prevent me from being with my mate because of her identity and I would find a way to handle that.
I led her to the dining table and pull out a chair for her to seat, we had a good meal together and headed to the grand hall to address the pack.
As we stepped into the grand hall, the murmurs of the pack members grew louder. Laura's hand trembled slightly in mine, but I gave it a reassuring squeeze.
The room fell silent as I stood before them, Laura standing by my side. I took a deep breath and announced, "My dear pack members, I present to you my chosen mate and Luna, Laura."
The pack erupted into cheers and applause, but their joy was short-lived. The elders, their faces stern and disapproving, stepped forward.
"We cannot allow this," one of the elders growled, his voice dripping with malice. "Laura is a white wolf, a creature of legend and danger. Her kind has been forbidden for generations, and for good reason."
The pack's cheers turned to gasps and whispers. Laura's hand tightened around mine, and I could feel her fear and uncertainty.
"She is a threat to our very existence," another elder spat. "We will not stand idly by while our Alpha puts us all in danger."
The pack began to murmur among themselves, some calling for Laura's banishment, others demanding proof of her supposed threat. I stood tall, my eyes locked on the elders.
"I will not be swayed," I declared, my voice firm and commanding. "Laura is my mate, and I will protect her with my life. She will be our Luna, and you will all respect her."
But the damage was done. And I knew it would take more than just my words to convince the pack of Laura's worth.
With a swift motion, I dismissed the gathering. "This meeting is adjourned. Everyone, please return to your duties."
As the pack members filed out, I turned to Laura and offered her a reassuring smile. "Let's get out of here," I whispered, leading her away from the tension-filled hall.
We walked in silence, the only sound being the soft rustling of our footsteps on the marble floor. Finally, we reached the sanctuary of our private quarters and we headed in.
As soon as the door closed behind us, Laura let out a shaky breath. "I'm sorry, Alexander," she whispered, her eyes brimming with tears. "I didn't mean to cause trouble."
I pulled her into my arms, holding her close as I stroked her hair. "You have nothing to apologize for," I whispered back. It's not your fault. You're my mate and also the Luna of this pack. Don't mind what the elders have just said,I will sort it out with them. I assured her as she drifted into sleep in my arms.
We can't just stand by and watch Alexander bring that...that abomination into our pack, Elder Thompson spat, his face twisted in disgust. She's a white wolf, for moon sake! A creature of legend, with powers beyond our control, she could destroy the whole pack with her power.
Elder Rachel chuckled, a cold glint in her eye. "Ah, but that's where you're wrong, my dear Thompson. The wolf's power could indeed bring destruction...but it could also be a valuable asset to us."
What do you mean by a valuable asset Rachel? The other elders asked as they leaned in, intrigued.
"Think about it," Rachel continued. If we used the white wolf essence to strengthen our powers, we could overthrow Alexander and put my son Marcus in his place. Moreover the crown was supposed to be Marcus's own, before the moon goddess decided to play unfair
The room erupted with evil laughter, the elders' eyes gleaming with ambition.
Yes your son is indeed a great man,he would make a good alpha, elder Peter said breaking off the laughter.
"How do we achieve this?" Elder Thompson asked, worry etched on his face.
Elder Rachel smiled, her eyes glinting with malice."Leave that to me. I have a plan
