Chapter 47

1064 Words

Sandi Shari and I had finished our morning chores and were heading back toward the horse barn to prepare for the afternoon work when she suddenly glanced at me. “There’s something I’ve been meaning to ask you.” I looked over. “That sounds ominous.” A mischievous smile spread across her face. “Someone told me you really had it in for Roxy.” I snorted. “She hated me.” “That isn’t exactly an answer.” I shrugged. “She made it pretty clear she didn’t like me. There was one incident in the kitchen where I punched her.” Shari’s eyebrows shot up. “You punched Roxy?” “She deserved it.” “I’m sure she did.” Shari laughed, but then her expression changed. “Although I highly doubt one punch was enough to make her run away.” I stopped walking. “Run away?” Shari looked at me. “Yeah.”
