Aurora’s POV…..
Flowers, chocolates and a letter came with it.
Waking up, I found myself standing by the door to collect a delivery after the guy had pounded over the door for hours, I barely slept last night, the eyes of the stranger were constantly in my mind, and his voice was still fresh in my ears and it felt like I could feel his presence.
Who is he? That thought lingered on my mind until I decided maybe he was someone who just needed help.
“To Aurora. Don’t think I have forgotten about it.” The letter said the message was alarming yet again intense to me, I glanced at it again; there was nothing else, not even the initial.
The first thought that came to my mind was Nicholas, but I shrugged off the thought, he never got me flowers not even when we were together, and I highly doubted that he would do this.
The chocolates were from someone who knew me because this is my favorite chocolate, the flowers felt the same too when I heard my phone ring and I was pulled out of my thoughts.
“What?.” I mumbled against my breath,
“Open your f*****g door, your bell is not working,” Candice said, a breath fell out of my lips as I opened the door and I saw her standing in front of it.
Candice my only friend and best friend, lives ten blocks away from here and she has always been with me.
“Some creepy men are standing by the front of the building, did someone wealthy buy a home here.”
“Will someone wealthy do that?” I asked and she laughed out loud, heading toward the curtain, I pulled it up and there they were, men, standing by the apartment, there were so many of them, I had lost count.
What was going on, first the gifts, and now this, I could not shrug off the feeling that they were here for me, but why?
“Aurora to the world.” I heard someone yell from behind and I was pulled out of my thoughts, I blinked and turned to her, she waved her hand in the air and I smiled at her.
“This is interesting, a rather dramatic letter and chocolate to go with it, and don’t you think I have forgotten about these flowers,” Candice said dramatically with her hand softly touching it. “Who did it come from?.”
“I wish I knew,” I whispered before turning back to look at them, they could not see me because of the window, I had it all done in a way I could see them.
“Is it from that creepy guy from the third floor, the one that always says someone sexually when he sees you, or is it from that guy from the grocery store, who always lies that it’s 20% off at all times?” She said and a chuckle falls out of my lips.
“It’s from someone else, I have no idea, Candice, I can’t just keep staring at those men, it feels weird, no one ever comes here especially no people in expensive suits and fancy cars only for them to stand by the street.”
“It could be someone is visiting someone, you are overthinking it, I could stay over if you want.”
“No, I would be fine.” I lied.
She had a lot of things to take care of before the wedding and I am not about to come in the way of that.
I pulled down the curtains and I settled beside her.
“I’m just a little paranoid. It’s not a big deal.” I smiled when she hugged me.
Soon it was time for her to leave, the moment she left, I liked all of the windows and the door, I tossed the flowers and the other gift in the bin, I got some weird feeling about it when I blasted on some music to clean.
Cleaning helped me think.
Halfway into it, the music stopped, I was standing on tiptoes trying to clean the top of the fridge when I stopped, the whole house felt quiet, my fear rising at every thought that I had in mind and my feet walking as slowly as I could, my breath hitches when I got to the living room.
The speaker was there, yet my phone was not, I could have sworn I kept it beside the speaker, only because the one time I took it into the kitchen with me, I lost it and it took me hours before I found it again.
I glanced across the area and there was nothing, my mind occupied itself with more fear when the sound of ticking came into sight, it was coming from my bedroom and that was my phone.
It was the alarm I had set so I would call Candice and talk to her.
My hands trembled as I reached toward the front door and the knob was cold, I twisted the key and there was nothing, I tried the knob a few times, I always knew this would come biting my ass, Candice would always complain and I would always get too busy to get the door fixed.
The sound of the alarm kept me at the edge of my toes when my eyes filled with tears, I got to the knife and I retrieved a knife before I headed into my bedroom. My movements slowed when I found the phone on the bed and beside it were the flowers that I tossed into the trash.
There is someone in this room, someone I can’t fight off even if I tried, my breath hitches when I hear a movement coming from the bathroom. I held on to the knife, I opened my mouth to scream when suddenly the bathroom door opened causing my attention to go to him and I felt another person behind him.
