Chapter 39 Snow lines the right-away on both sides of Highway 16. Gravel mixed with salt edges the snow-packed shoulders. Overhead the clear skies show a fading blue, while the highway seems relatively dry. Nevertheless, I drive with caution and avoid the ice patches. As I pass Mrs. Warner's turnoff, I note her road has been sanded and ploughed. Good. I'm dropping in on her after I leave Stan's. I've decided to push the investigation up a notch. Time to use the skills I'm supposed to be so good at and treat her as my prime suspect. If done right, I should know by day's end whether she's my shooter.
