Stolen Love

It was in the middle of the day when my best friend Lily and I were sleeping in our room that we share with another girl. We are both in our third year to complete our degree in education. It was neither hot nor cold as it was the beginning of spring and the end of winter. Before I go any further let me introduce myself. My name is June David, I am 24 years old. I grew up deep down the village, my father passed away when I was 5 years old and my young sisters only 2 years old. I have other older siblings, 3 elder sisters and one elder brother. I grew up in a very poor bare ground, my mother Aisha was illiterate, she can barely read and write and she neither understand or speaks English which is a the official language of my country. Being uneducated did not stop her from raising us, after my father Eli David passed on, my mother did everything humanly possible to make sure that we are fed and we have clothes and our school fees are paid. She had a small business selling food and beverages near a local school to make end meets. Today I am here in my third year, almost finished with my degree, my young sister is also in her second year studying to be a teacher too, I guess I have inspired her but I cannot be surprised given how close we have grown up to be. Back to our room, It is a hostel room in our campus that is shared by three female students, It is a college of education thus every one in our campus is studying to be a teacher. The only difference is areas of specialization. My best friend Lily and I met the third week in our first year and we have been inseparable ever since..... June? Lily called me. June David? Lily called again and poked me in the ribs. Startled I jumped off my bed with a scream, I might have zoned out , I don’t remember what I was thinking about. Where? What happened? I asked . Nothing happened, I have been calling you for the past 5 minutes but you just look dead or something. Said Lily. Oh.. I was sleeping, I answered. Mhm.. sleeping with eyes open ? Lily asked with a raised eyebrows. Ok ok.. I zoned out, I was thinking about my mum, I haven’t talked to her in like a week. I answered lazily. Okay.. you will have to call her later because as for now you have to walk with me to the gate,answered Lily. Why on earth would I walk almost 2 kilometers to the gate with you, I have just came out of Education Foundation and I hate history, too long stories I need to relax, I answered and removing my note book from my pillow so I sleep. Come on, my laptop fell last night remember? My cousin Sam is going to check it out since he studied computers and other hardware things and knows how to fix them. He said he will go and check it out for me. I don’t have money to get a new one or pay a professional ,Lily explained. Wait, isn’t your famous cousin Sam a cop? I asked. Yes, but not the cop with a g*n, more like a tech cop. But.... I began to complain. No buts, get up you lazy bum. Said Lily pulling me up. Fine, just because I love you. The gate was far and we took our time walking ,talking about this and that. We reached the gate and my friend happily matched to a black Golf with a rolled down window. Hi cuz, here is my laptop, meet my friend June . She said to him while handing him a bag and gesturing me to come closer. Put it at the back seat, he said to her while looking at me. They continued to talk and laugh but I haven’t moved an inch, after a while my friend realized and ask why I was just standing and not greeting her cousin. I am just thinking of why your what so called cousin had made us walk that long distance if he could have just driven to our room. Jerk! I said and quickly slapped my mouth upon realizing that I had just said that out loud. Wooh.. rude much? Sam said Sorry, I thought I said that in my mind. I answered embarrassed. That doesn’t make it less rude. He said looking me up and down as if he is measuring me up. Lily, I don’t like your friend. Sam said again. Well, the feeling is mutual. I said to him and rolled my eyes. Lily, call me later when your rude friend is not with you. Sam said with a frowning face. Like I want to be in your company too. I mumbled. Wooh guys , bad start, let’s just start over okay. Lily said trying to neutralize the situation. I can’t, we have choir practice in few minutes and don’t forget we still have to walk back to the room. I answered. Okay, Bye Sam, I will call you later. Sam zoomed of without saying anything. What a jerk. Sorry I know he is your cousin but he is just rude. I said. O.M.G .... you like him. Lily said while laughing and clapping her hands. I do not like him. I said, rolling my eyes. Yes you do, my goodness, this is so exciting. Lily said in a sing song tune and started dancing I lunged at her but she was too fast ,I didn’t catch her, she ran of with with chasing her to it room..
