For five years, Isabella Conway Willow lived a lie… and called it love.

Hidden beneath the humble identity of a devoted secretary, Isabella is secretly the heiress to the powerful Richford empire and the wife of Billionaire Aiden Willow, a man she gave everything for.

But when Isabella finally takes in a child after years of longing for a child, fate shatters her world as a tragic accident steals her unborn child, and the man she loved all her life serves her the divorce papers.

Betrayed, framed, accused, and cast aside by the very family she sacrificed her identity for, Isabella is pushed to the brink, signing the divorce papers and disappearing.

But the woman who returns is no longer the broken wife they once humiliated as Isabella rises as the formidable heiress she was always meant to be. Except, she returns with a motive: to destroy the Willow family and bring them down to nothing.

Pregnant
Isabella Conway Willow sat at the edge of the examination bed, her fingers twisting nervously in the hem of her blouse. The sterile scent of antiseptic filled the room, sharp and almost suffocating, but it did nothing to calm the storm raging inside her chest. “Mrs Conway,” Dr Tera called, and Isabella straightened as though her life depended on it. Her eyes remained fixed on the middle-aged woman in a white coat, standing across from her with the test results in hand. Dr Tera was calm, and that calmness only made Isabella more anxious. Every second stretched unbearably long, each tick of the invisible tightening the knot in her stomach. This very moment was going to be her anchor, it held five years of hope, disappointment, silent tears, and whispered prayers. For five years, Isabella had been trying, waiting, enduring the pain of being labeled barren by her supposed in-laws. Her toes curled inside her plum flats as her thoughts threatened to spiral out of control. *What if this was negative again?* *What if this was just another cruel cycle of hope leading to heartbreak?* Finally, Dr Tera looked up, clearing her throat. A gentle smile spread across her face, “Congratulations, Mrs... Conway,” she said softly, “You are pregnant.” The words didn't register in Isabella's mind immediately. She waited, letting her mind break down the words slowly, until they slowly made sense. “What?!” She blinked, “I am…pregnant?” She whispered, her voice trembling with disbelief. “Yes,” Dr Tera confirmed, “You are four weeks pregnant.” A soft broken laugh escaped Isabella's lips, tears blurring her vision. Her hands trembled as she reached out and grabbed the paper, her eyes scanning the words and symbols. It was true, she saw it. Positive, her pregnancy status read, her breath hitched as the thought dawned on her, this was real. She, Isabella Conway Willow… was pregnant. A sob escaped her lips as she pressed a hand against her mouth, trying to contain the overwhelming flood of emotions crashing through her. This was something she was slowly giving up on, after years of being mocked and ridiculed by the Willow family… after enduring their constant reminders of her “failure”… after being treated like she was never worthy of their son… Finally, she had proven them wrong, her chest tightened as memories flooded her mind. It all began with the cold stares, the whispered insults, and then the accusations that she had trapped Aiden for his wealth started piling in, followed by the public humiliations, treating her like a maid at family functions, always reminding her that she was equal to nothing. Only because they didn't know the truth behind her identity, they saw her as a nobody, unaware she had walked away from a life of unimaginable wealth and power, just to be with Aiden. For his genuine love, and it was all worth it, as he had loved her just as deeply. Through every insult thrown her way, he had stood by her, protecting her, cherishing her. Even as their marriage remained hidden from the world, he never once made her feel like she didn’t belong. Aiden was her safe place, her strength, her everything, and now… Now she was going to give him the one thing they had both longed for. A child. Her hand slowly dropped to her stomach, her fingers pressing gently against it as if she could already feel the life growing inside her. “Our baby…” she whispered, her lips trembling into a smile. Tears streamed down her face as her imagination ran wild with images of a tiny baby with Aiden’s eyes and her smile. Aiden was holding his baby in his arms, his face lighting up with pure joy…The thought alone made her heart swell. “I have to tell my husband,” she said suddenly, her voice filled with urgency and excitement. Dr. Tera nodded, still smiling. “That’s wonderful. But make sure you come back with him so we can—” Isabella barely heard the rest, already grabbing her purse, and within seconds, she was out of the office. *************** The engine roared to life as Isabella sped out of the hospital parking lot, her heart still racing, but this time, it was from excitement. “You’re pregnant.” Dr. Tera's words echoed in her mind, over and over again, each repetition making her smile wider. Traffic ahead was unusually heavy, cars packed tightly together in an endless line. On any other day, she would have been frustrated. But not today. Today, nothing could ruin her happiness, her fingers tightened around the steering wheel as her thoughts drifted once more. *What will the baby look like?* *Will it be a boy or a girl?* *What tiny clothes would she buy?* A soft laugh escaped her lips as she imagined how he would react once he found out, his eyes lighting up, his arms pulling her close, his lips pressing against hers. Her heart fluttered, a sheepish smile spreading across her face. She glanced briefly at her phone, feeling tempted to call him, but she stopped herself. This was no news for a phone call. She needed to see his face, she needed to be there, right in front of him, when his world changed just like hers had. Finally, the traffic began to move. Relief washed over her as the road cleared, and she picked up her speed. She was close now, very close, just a few minutes more, and she would be basking in immense joy with the love of her life. Suddenly, a loud, aggressive horn blared behind her. Isabella’s brows furrowed as she glanced at the rear view mirror. A truck. Too close. Her grip tightened instinctively as she turned the steering wheel slightly, switching lanes. But the truck followed. A flicker of unease settled in her chest. “What’s going on…?” she murmured under her breath. She switched back to her original lane. The truck followed again. The horn blared louder this time, more aggressive, more threatening. Her heart skipped. Maybe she was overthinking it. Maybe it was just a reckless driver. “I’m almost there…” she whispered to herself, trying to calm the rising fear. Another loud honk. Closer. Too close. Before she could react.. BAM!!! A violent force slammed into the back of her car. A scream tore from her throat. “Ahhh!” The impact sent her car lurching forward violently, her seat belt digging painfully into her chest. The world spun uncontrollably as the car veered off course, metal screeching, glass shattering into a thousand pieces. Her head snapped back, then forward. Her vision blurred. The car lifted. Then flipped. Once. Twice. Again. “No… no… no!” she cried, panic consuming her completely. Pain tore through her body with every violent roll, her limbs jerking helplessly as the car tumbled like a discarded toy. Then— A sickening crash. The car landed upside down. Silence. A high-pitched ringing filled her ears as everything went still. Her breath came out in shallow gasps. Pain. Everywhere. Her stomach clenched suddenly, and fear unlike anything she had ever felt surged through her. Her baby. “My baby…” she whispered weakly. Her trembling hands tried to move toward her stomach, desperate, protective, but her body refused to cooperate. She hung awkwardly, suspended by the seat belt, every inch of her screaming in agony. She had to protect her child. She had to. . . The seat belt suddenly snapped loose. Her body dropped. Hard. Glass pierced her skin as she hit the shattered remains beneath her. Her head slammed against the airbag with a sickening force. White-hot pain exploded through her skull. Warm liquid trickled down her forehead. Blood. Her vision blurred further, darkness creeping in from the edges. The ringing in her ears grew louder… then softer… then distant. Her body felt cold. So cold. Her eyelids fluttered, struggling to stay open. No… She couldn’t pass out. Not now. Not when her baby needed her. But her strength was fading. Fast. Black dots filled her vision. The world dimmed. Her last thought flickered weakly in her mind. . . Aiden… And then. . . Nothing.
