Gael's sudden arrival and Olivia's refusal to soften her heart forced Gabriel to send Corale home today from tutoring.
Corale was shocked and didn't say much on the bus, even though her head was full of questions.
How could he be here?
What are you here for?
And what about his lectures!?
Corale couldn't forgive herself if Gael came here because he still wanted to keep their promise, that's what he said after asking not to do their silly commitment anymore.
Could it be that Gael knew that Victor had followed here?
Corale wanted to ask all that unfortunately, her lips refused to open a conversation.
“So …” Gael decided to open his mouth, feeling strange at the nervousness between them, “how are you feeling? Victor didn't do anything weird, did he?”
Corale wasn't to talk about Victor, "You know him."
Gael stopped walking to make Corale do the same, “When I found out he was going to Oxford, I knew this was him last chance to have you.”
Corale nodded glumly, “I understand you're worried, but you're studying. What if your grades drop?”
“I can catch up later, different if I lose you,” Gael admitted seriously without taking his eyes off Corale, “and as if God granted my wish, I got a call from a girl named Vega.” He continued a little awkwardly, “I want to thank her.”
Vega!?
So this is all Vega's doing?
Corale is confused about where Vega knows about Gael, she never told about him, let alone gave her his phone number.
Did Vega use her powers to get into her mind? Looking for men who are close to her?
"Hmm?" While waiting for Corale's response, Gael's eyes accidentally saw something red dot? Move slowly around her back. He squinted to make it clearer because the sun was low.
That's a sniper!
"Watch out!" Gael shouted as he threw himself at Corale—making his body a shield.
"Kyaa ...!" Corale screamed, unable to escape from Gael's sudden embrace, his heavy body made her fall on the asphalt with him on top of her. She didn't feel any pain because the arm protecting her rubbed against the hard pavement, “Gael! What is the meaning of all this!?”
“Someone is aiming for you, ugh,” Gael replied with a groan of pain in his arms.
Corale's eyes widened, “Aiming?”
There was no time to speak, Gael saw the sniper's direction again trying to target Corale, "We better run between the trees so whoever it is difficult to focus on shooting!"
Corale nodded, she didn't dare glance behind her, letting Gael hold her hand tightly, leading her into the trees.
“You know the castle's direction even if we pass through the forest, right?” Gael asked after they took cover in a large tree.
Corale had never tried it. She was only here a few days ago! There was no reason for her to explore the forest, but she realized that if they just took cover and waited for the mysterious person to surrender, then the trees wouldn't be able to withstand the sniper bullets, "I'll try to remember!" Moreover, the castle can be seen from a distance if it is a little closer.
“Alright,” Gael nodded, “we run. Now."
Corale put all her strength into it, this time she checked over her shoulder where the shot was coming from but couldn't because Gael was running behind her as if protecting her.
Gael.
At this rate, there's a chance he might get shot.
'Who also intends to hurt me ...!?'
Corale seemed to want to scream out all the emotions accumulated in her heart. She didn't know what was wrong with her that someone hated her to this extent.
'Why ...!'
“Ah …!” Corale was so wrapped up in her emotions that she overlooked the roots of a big tree, she tripped and fell to the ground.
“Corale!” Gael immediately helped her up.
“Oww …!” Corale felt a sudden pain in her ankle. She must have sprained it.
“D*mn,” Gael cursed under his breath. Don't know if he could carry her with his hands hurting from rubbing against the asphalt earlier.
Think.
Think something, Gael!
Gael saw the mysterious person begin to aim the sniper at Corale.
No time to complain!
Gael gritted his teeth and lifted Corale to a nearby tree to hide there with all his might.
The bullets passed by as soon as they reached the big tree.
“Almost,” Gael mumbled. But he couldn't let his guard down, he had to think about his next move. With this condition, there is only one way, “Listen to me!!!” He shouted, “I called the police! I hope you know what that means!”
He hoped that the mysterious person would give up.
Really hopeful.
Unfortunately, Gael felt a strong vibration in the tree. He lifted his head, his navy blue eyes wide at the small hole there.
Another shot.
A challenge.
“Gael, you better go,” Corale said quietly.
"What? You are crazy?" Gael said. There was no way he would leave her alone when she was the mysterious person's target!
"What choice do we have here?" Corale argued back, “You're the strongest running here. Get help, what that person wants is me.”
“No,” Gael refused emphatically, put her hand on his shoulder, then lifted himself again, “We'll get through this together.”
“Gael …” Corale didn't know what to say.
“You'd better call the police while I'm running. OK?"
Corale nodded in understanding, with one hand, she took the cellphone in her sling bag. Thankfully she had saved the emergency number after finding out Victor was following her. She struggled a bit due to having to hold on tight and being in the arms of Gael who was running, but she finally succeeded once they were back in hiding in the tree.
'Please. Please. Answer!'
Corale pleaded in her heart waiting for an answer on the other end of the phone.
'I don't know what to do if there's no answer!'
Corale bit her lower lip hard.
"Corale?"
Huh?
Corale tilted her head slowly, her eyes immediately met Vyrion's ruby eyes that flashed with anxiety, "You here?"
“I heard your voice,” Vyrion said.
Huh?
But Corale didn't scream, could it be that Vyrion mistook Gael's voice for her? Impossible, right? Their voices are so different!
Either way, Corale was relieved to see Vyrion here, “Someone intends to harm us.”
Vyrion's face instantly darkened an expression hard to read. Looking at Corale who was shaking violently as she said that while her beautiful aqua eyes looked frightened, shake the feeling deep in his heart, “Oh yeah? I'll deal with it immediately," he asked dryly.
Corale could see that Vyrion's eyes were precisely the same as in her dream, where he claimed to have killed the 'God', “Vyrion! Don't be violent!”
Vyrion didn't listen, his eyes blinded by his goal to relieve the pain in his and Corale's heart.
"No!"
