Prologue
Beijing in midsummer.
In front of the Nine Dragon Wall in Beihai Park, there are crowds of tourists from all over the world. Under the bright sun, the Nine Dragon Wall seems to be covered with a dazzling layer of light, and the dragons seem to be about to break through the mist and soar on the wall. Thousands of golden rays of light shine on the dragon's body, and the dragon's body shakes, raises its head, wags its tail, coils and bends, and surges on the waves and travels through the clouds, just like a real dragon reappearing, vividly.
"Liu Li, over here! Hurry!" With a crisp voice, a handsome boy pushed his way through the crowd to get a good position.
"Here it comes... oops!" Liu Li, holding the camera, was pushed by the surrounding tourists and lost his balance. The camera flew straight out of his hand.
The boy reflexively reached out with both hands and caught the camera in an incredible move.
"Liu Yue, your reflexes are so quick!" Liu Li smiled slyly.
Liu Yue handed the camera to her and gave her a glare: "Who is as slow as you?"
"Hey... did you just say that to your sister?" Liu Li slapped him.
"Sister, you're very strong." Liu Yue rubbed his head in frustration. The fresh and bright girl in front of him was 18 years old, a high-achieving student in the history department of a prestigious university, and her greatest hobby was probably bullying her younger brother.
"Is it very strong?" Liu Li innocently looked at her hands, as if it was just a light touch...
"What's wrong with the sky?!" A cry of alarm came from the crowd.
Liu Li subconsciously looked up.
The originally clear blue sky had turned into a deep red, like blood, like a raging fire, with an indescribable charm and strangeness. Before she could recover from the shock, she felt the ground beneath her feet start to shake violently. An earthquake? Could it be an earthquake?! This was the only possibility she could think of in her panic.
"Liu Yue!" she shouted, trying to grab her brother, but was pushed to the other side by the panicked crowd. The earthquake was getting stronger and stronger, shaking the leaves off the surrounding trees and making the tourists sway back and forth in panic. After a short while, the shaking suddenly stopped and everything returned to normal.
"Liu Yue! Where are you?" Liu Li pushed her way through the crowd, desperately searching for her brother. How could such an unbelievable thing happen? She was both anxious and confused.
"Oh my God! The Nine Dragon Wall..." Liu Li's voice was obviously frightened. She glanced at the Nine Dragon Wall and gasped in shock. The nine dragons on the wall had all disappeared...
What on earth was going on? Liu Li felt a strong sense of unease well up in her heart. There had been too many strange things today.
"Your brother is no longer here." A gentle voice came from behind Liu Li, and she turned her head in surprise.
It was a man dressed in a long, willow-green robe. His long, silky purple hair, his deep, dark eyes like jade, and his faint smile, as if drifting on the warm breeze in March, were like a willow tree swaying by the lake. His face was pleasing to the eye, and his temperament was like jade.
But why is he wearing ancient clothing?
"What happened? Where is my brother? And who are you?" She was only stunned by the man in front of her for a moment. At this time, the whereabouts of her brother was more important than a handsome man.
He smiled lightly, "I am Xiang Liu, the fifth star of the Six Stars of the Southern Dipper, the star of the fifth day, the star of the fifth day."
"What!" Liu Li took two steps back. She stared at the handsome man in front of her with her eyes wide open. What did he just say? The Six Stars of the Southern Dipper? The Star of Salvation? This name...
"Are you god?" she asked, stammering.
Xiang Liu nodded, looked at the Nine Dragon Wall, and sighed slightly: "The Nine Sons of the Dragon cannot escape this disaster." He glanced at Liu Li's face, which was twitching, and continued, "The nine dragons on the Nine Dragon Wall are the nine sons of the dragon: Chaofeng, Chixin, Yazi, Pulao, Shutu, Baixia, Xuanji, Beian, and Pixiu. The star god a prophecy that they had this doom, so I was specially asked to help resolve it.
"I don't understand..." Liu Li looked confused.
"The Dragon's Son is the Son of Heaven. When the nine sons of the Dragon suddenly disappear, the nine stars corresponding to them, namely, the stars of gold, wood, water, fire, earth, Rahu, Ketu, Purusha and Chitrasagar, will deviate from their respective orbits, which means that the nine sons of Heaven under the protection of the nine stars will also suffer the same fate." Xiang Liu patiently explained.
"This doom? You mean the fate of the nine emperors will change?" She finally understood a little.
"Yes, some of the nine sons of the dragon will not become emperors due to accidents, and some will encounter calamities after ascending the throne. They are in different eras of history. If their fate changes, the nine stars will be chaotic, and history will change accordingly. Then everything you see now may disappear."
"You mean—everything in the modern era will disappear?" She felt a chill in her heart.
"Maybe." He smiled.
"But it's no use talking to me. I'm just an ordinary girl." She was skeptical of his words. This kind of magical event seemed to be something she had only seen in TV cartoons.
"But only you can change all this." His words were like a bomb exploding over her head.
"Me?" she laughed nervously. "Brother God, this joke seems a bit too big. I'm neither Superman nor Sailor Moon, and I can't take on the important mission of saving the world." She nervously clenched her fists, her heart pounding. The chaos and noise around her had suddenly disappeared, and there was no one in sight. It was as if everyone had suddenly disappeared.
"Actually, your brother..." he hesitated.
"What about my brother? You know where he is, right?" Liu Li felt a wave of anxiety rising in her heart. For some reason, she had a bad feeling.
"Your brother has been taken by the Nine Sons of the Dragon. If you want to find him, the only way is to go back to the time when the Nine Sons of the Dragon were alive and correct their fate. When all the Nine Sons of the Dragon return, your brother will return as well." Xiang Liu's mouth curled up slightly, and there was an irresistible smile in his eyes. "So, you have no choice."
"Why, why me?" Liu Li's face turned pale and her body trembled. She couldn't digest so much strange stuff at once.
"Because she chose you." Xiang Liu bent down, and her long purple hair brushed her face.
She? Who is she?
Liu Li, who was in a state of shock, suddenly saw her younger brother's smiling face in her mind. Her heart felt a sharp pain. It seemed that, whether it was true or not, she had no choice.
"So, what should I do?"
Xiang Liu was not at all surprised by her answer: "I will send your spirit to the era where the first dragon child, Chaofeng, was born when you are dreaming."
"Dream? Spirit?" She looked at him in confusion.
"Yes, only your spirit body will return to that era. I will choose a suitable person for your spirit body to possess, so that you can do your business. Remember, one hour in your dream is equivalent to two months there, and one night should be enough for you."
"But how will I return?" Her mood slowly calmed down. If it was as he said, wouldn't it be like having a dream?
"You will naturally wake up when you have completed your task."
"What if I don't complete it?" she stared at him.
"Liu Li, you can do it." A trace of an elusive light flashed in Xiang Liu's dark eyes. "Remember, the first time you go is to the time when the Five Barbarians invaded China. The person you are helping is called Murong Chong."
Murong Chong? She was slightly stunned. If she remembered correctly, he should be the emperor of Western Yan.
"How can I help?"
"You will know naturally."
Liu Li wanted to ask something else, but he waved his sleeve and turned into a wisp of smoke that drifted into the air. She looked up at the sky in a daze. The sky was as clear as a wash, as clear and blue as if nothing had ever happened. Only the empty Nine Dragon Wall and the panicked shouts of the tourists reminded her that everything that had just happened was real.
When she got home, Liu Li had to lie to her parents and say that her brother had gone to stay with a classmate. She knew that the lie wouldn't last long, and hoped that the willow tree hadn't lied to her, and that when the nine sons of the dragon returned, her brother would really come back.
Tonight, unable to hear her brother's laughter and familiar turning over sound from the upper bunk, Liu Li couldn't sleep at all. She buried her head in the pillow and took a deep breath, thinking of her brother...
My head is getting dizzy…
