The Stuff of Nightmares

462 Words
Working in the dining hall as a server was the stuff of nightmares for Siobhan. Most of the pack members tended to look right through her and take their food without acknowledging her existence. Although they couldn't outright hurt her in the Alpha's presence; the more braver members of the pack did little things to make it unbearable for her. Some would make her return their food to the kitchen multiple times or trip her as she walked past. These were however only small irritations compared to the t*****e she experienced at the hands of her peers. The younger pack members seemed to get endless satisfaction in tormenting Siobhan. "Siobhan!", shouted a high pitched nasally voice as Siobhan made her rounds around the dining hall serving the pack members. The voice belonged to a person hated the most in the whole pack. No, make that the whole entire world. Lacey Stevens was the daughter of the pack ďelta, and was already asserting herself as the queen bee of the young she wolves. Lacey fancied herself as the next Luna. Especially now that Lucas; uncle Edward's son and future Alpha of the pack, had taken a liking to her. The two had become inseperable of late; a fact that had not gone unnoticed by the elders of the pack. Most pack members welcomed the union as Lacey was a child of the pack who understood their way of life and the pack dynamics. The only dissenters were the other young she wolves who had Luna aspirations of their own. Humiliating Siobhan was a favourite past time of Lacey's second only to securing her place at the side of the future Alpha. "Siobhan! Woo hoo over here!" she basically screeched from across the dining hall. While Siobhan would have loved to ignore her, she knew better. She trudged across the dining hall already bracing for the worst. "Yes Lacey. What can I do for you?", Siobhan asked through gritted teeth. "So I don't know if maybe you forgot or something, but I like my steak well done. The one you gave me is medium rare. So if you could please be a dear and ask cook to redo it for me please" she tossed out with a fake smile. "No problem. I'll be right back". Fighting back the tears that were threatening to fall and swallowing through the lump in her throat, Siobhan grabbed Lacey's plate and turned to head back to the kitchen. However, luck was not on her side. Just as she turned she crashed smack bang into someone's chest. Someone wearing a tshirt that had been sparkling white but was now covered in sauce from the medium rare steak. The medium rare steak that was now lying forlonly on the floor.
