An Unlikely Saviour

Siobhan raised her eyes to look at the person she'd bumped into. Of course with her luck, it was none other than Jacob Stevens. Lacey's older brother. "I am so sorry Jacob. I had no idea you were right behind me", she muttered out already knowing that Cook was going to blow a gasket. Not to mention her aunt. "Don't worry about it. I did kind of just pop up behind you", Jacob said with an easy smile. He had always been the only person apart from her uncle and his beta who was kind to her. He didnt go out of his way to hang out with her, seeing as he was 15 and already a high schooler. However, any time he'd come across Siobhan Jacob was always nice and cordial. This is perhaps whay had led to Siobhan developing a bit of a crush on him; not to mention his devastatingly good looks. The Stevens' kids were a good looking duo. With white blonde hair and icy blue eyes, they seemed to be straight out of a catalogue. "If you're done gawking at my brother maybe you could get me a new steak huh Siobhan", spat out Lacey bitterly. "I don't think our Luna would appreciate you keeping me waiting". The dining hall had gone so silent you could hear a pin drop. All eyes were on the drama unfolding. "Don't be such a b***h Lacey. Siobhan has a whole dining hall to serve, she can't tend to you all damn day", Jacob spat out irritably. Siobhan could not believe her ears. This was the first time someone other than her uncle had defended her. "Well if Siobhan did her job properly the first time around; then Lacey wouldn't have to keep sending her orders back to the kitchen now would she Jake?" asked a sickly sweet voice behind Siobhan. She didn't have to turn around to find out who had joined the conversation. She knew her aunt's voice in her sleep and she could tell just from her tone whay kind of mood she was in. Right now she was incredibly irritated. "Siobhan you have once again managed to make a complete spectacle of yourself. Why is it that you can't seem to do the simplest of tasks without messing up?" asked her aunt in an irritable voice. Siobhan knew better than to even attempt to give her an answe as it would make things worse. Her aunt preferred to talk at Siobhan rather than to talk with her. "Clean this mess up and go tell Cook how you've managed to waste perfectly good food once again", instructed the Luna already beginning to walk away. "Everbody else go back to your meals". As everybody turned back to their plates and the sounds of utensils and chatter began to fill the dining hall once again, Siobhan bent down to pick up Lacey's ruined steak. Once again Lacey had managed to make her seem incompetent, Siobhan thought bitterly. "Here, let me help you with that", murmured Jacob bending down to help her. "I'll help you carry it back to the kitchen". Siobhan was too shocked by the offer to even offer up a protest. Anyway Jacob had already managed to pick up the steak and she was left to just clean up the sauce on the floor. Jacob stood up and offered her his hand to help her up. Not wanting to be rude and piss off the one person who was being nice to her Siobhan accepted the help and quickly stood up. "Thank you for your help Jacob. I can take it from here" she murmured quietly. Before Jacob could say anything else she quickly turned around and basically sprinted down the hallway to the kitchen area. Although she didn't turn around she could feel Jacob's eyes on her the whole way. Out of all people, she had never thought that Jacob Stevens noticed her or even knew she existed.
