KATHERINE
Axel Brixton! I shouted in my mind. My eyes widened as I stared at the man wearing a mask. He covered my mouth with one hand while the other restrained my two hands raised above my head.
"Who are you? What are you doing up here?" AB asked in a dangerous voice.
"I-I—" Damn it! I don't know why I suddenly stammered. I'm not afraid of him. But I feel strange because of the closeness of our bodies.
"Are you going to answer me or I will drag you out and give you to the people chasing you out there?" he threatened me with narrowing his eyes. "Who are you? And what are you doing here upstairs?" he asked again.
"I am Katherine Harret. I'm here to do what my client asked me to do," I answered him. I stared into his eyes. Why is he so familiar to me? His eyes, his voice, and even his touch. They are all familiar to me as if I had encountered him many times.
"Client? What client?" He gave me a suspicious look. He doesn't seem to believe what I said.
"My client is the wife of Clent Ford. She wants me to secretly take a picture of her husband with his mistress," I quickly explained. Before I even came here, I already had an alibi just in case I got caught in one of the rooms of this house. Mrs. Ford paid a woman to spy on her husband. Even if AB asks Clent Ford's wife to confirm whether what I said is true or not he won't find out the truth about my purpose. My superior already paid the woman Mrs. Ford ordered.
"What did you discover? Why are they chasing you?" AB asked again. But the doubt reflected on his face lessened.
"I saw that Mr. Clent Ford's mistress is the famous actress Hannah Quintana. They probably thought I was a paparazzi so they chased me when they discovered I was peeking through the door," I explained again. I can't say what I really discovered because it's too confidential. What if Clent Ford is in cahoots with him and wants to make sure that I don't discover their illegal activities? I won't fall from his tricks.
"Are you sure you didn't discover anything else besides that? Didn't you hear what they were talking about?" Again, there was doubt in his voice. What does he want to hear from me? Is he also an enemy of the law? Is he really an ally of Clent Ford?
"Nothing. How can I hear what they were talking about when I just arrived and they immediately noticed my presence?"
"Make sure you're telling the truth or else you are putting your life in danger," he said in a threatening voice.
I rolled my eyes at what he said. Obviously, he's scaring me so I'll tell the truth if I'm lying. "Can you let me go now? My hands are getting numb. And someone might see us in this position. I don't want that to reach my husband." I deliberately put irritation in my voice.
Finally, AB released my hands. But he didn't let me out of the room.
"Are you married?" He suddenly frowned as if he couldn't believe what I said.
"Yes. I am already married. So let me out of this room before someone sees us together in the same room. I don't want my husband to think I'm cheating on him," I answered with my forehead raised. I was about to open the door to go out but AB grabbed my two hands and pressed my body against the wall with his body. "What are you doing? Are you crazy?"
"I felt insulted just now, Miss. Is it embarrassing for other people to see you with me? Don't you know that many women are scrambling to get my attention and be with me in the same room?" It seemed AB really felt insulted by what I said. What he said was true. But I'm not one of those women. Even if Axel and I are only married on paper, I am still loyal to him until we sign the church divorce papers. "Do you know who I am?" he added.
"If many women want to be with you in the same room, don't compare me to them. I'm different from them. I love my husband," I said sternly to him. I hope he lets me go and lets me out of the room because my time is running out. I need to get out of this house before Mr. Ford's men regain control of the CCTV camera in the whole house.
AB brought his mouth to the side of my ear and whispered. "Interesting. You're an interesting woman. You successfully caught my attention."
I turned my face to avoid his ear because I suddenly felt ticklish when his breath hit my sensitive ear. I accidentally looked at my wristwatch. I secretly cursed when I saw that there were only five minutes left for me to stay inside Mr. Ford's house.
AB is strong and seems to know self-defense. He can dodge my knee when I try to hit him between his thighs. I can't use my needle on him either because he's holding my arms tightly. I have no choice but to use my mouth to make him release me.
Before he could guess what I was going to do, I bit his shoulder hard.
"Ouch! Damn it! Are you a dog?" he scolded angrily. His grip on my hands suddenly loosened. I took advantage of his loss of focus on me and strongly kneelt on him. I didn't hit what I wanted to hit but that was enough to make him feel pain. He let go of me and backed away from me. I hurriedly opened the door and went out of the room. As soon as I left the room, I immediately ran away from that room to get out of the house before my time ran out. "Katherine!"
I suddenly stopped when I heard someone call my name from behind me. I was about to turn to the man who called me but didn't continue because I heard Sander's voice from my earpiece earring. He manage to restored our communication.
"Come out now, Agent Blue! You have no time to stop!" Sander shouted. Instead of turning around, I just continued running towards the fire exit that Sander had pointed out to me before I even entered Mr. Ford's house. But even though I'm running, I still can't forget the voice of the man who called my name. He seems to be my husband. But Axel can't be in Mr. Ford's house.
