Chapter 1
Katherine A sweet smile was plastered on my lips as I looked at my face in the small mirror. I just finished applying a thin layer of makeup on my face. I only applied a thin layer so it won't smudge too much when I sweat. I'm sure I'll be in a fight later. "You are so beautiful, Katherine. It's a pity that you like women instead of men," the man with me in the car said, shaking his head in admiration. "I wish I were the man you were marrying now," he added with regret in his voice. "In your dreams!" I replied to him with a laugh. All my colleagues believe that I am a lesbian. That's because I rejected all the men who tried to court me. I told the last man who courted me that I like women and not men. It turns out my most gossiping coworker heard it, so it spread throughout the department that I'm a Lesbian. Since then, no man has tried to court me. That's favorable for me because I don't want to entertain suitors, especially if I'm not interested in them. "Are you ready, Katherine?" A voice from the small earpiece in my ear. "It's time to make a move." "Yes, Sir," I quickly replied before getting out of the vehicle. Wearing the wedding dress, I walked towards the closed door of the church. As the wedding march played, the door opened. I couldn't help but be impressed by the setup my boss had arranged. A groom was waiting for me at the front of the altar, and guests were all dressed up. Even the inside of the church was decorated with white flowers and there was a red carpet. All in all, it seemed like a real wedding was about to take place. My upcoming wedding is not real. All of this was arranged by my boss so we could catch the big-time drug lord in the country and his foreign associate. Someone tipped off the police that the two would pretend to attend the wedding even though they didn't know who the couple getting married was. Their purpose is to exchange goods. And so the police wouldn't suspect, they planned their deal during a wedding ceremony. They have no idea that someone betrayed their group and tipped off the police about the deal that will take place. As a member of the special secret agent team led by the chief of police, I was chosen to play the bride in a wedding ceremony that was merely a setup. All the guests, the priest, and even the groom are all agents. Only the two drug lords are unaware that the wedding taking place is not real. I discreetly scanned the inside of the church and searched for the two drug lords who were our targets. I secretly smiled when I saw a foreigner sitting in the middle row of seats. He is the only foreigner inside the church, so I am certain he is my target. Next to the foreigner is a teenage girl and a fat man with a mustache on his face. Surely the man with the mustache is the drug lord Benjamin Bidden because the teenage girl can't be the foreign drug lord's associate. My boss said not to make a move until I see the two exchanging attaché cases. The police are already surrounding the church, so the two scourges of society cannot escape. I smiled sweetly at the people looking at me and smiling as well. Their smiles were beautiful on their lips, so no one would think that this wedding was not real. But I couldn't help but wonder when I noticed that I didn't see any of my fellow secret special agents. And I also didn't expect that we had members who were teenagers. I just shrugged slightly. I thought that perhaps secret agents from another department were sent by my boss to help me with the mission. I continued my slow walk towards the man with his back turned to me until I reached beside him. My lips slightly parted when I saw the face of the fake groom. He was the most handsome face I had ever seen in my entire life. He has a perfect face. His thick eyebrows suited his eyes, which looked serious and seemed to pierce through. His high-bridged nose seemed to be sculpted and attached to his face by a skilled sculptor. And his lips, oh my, they are red and kissable. The man is also tall and has a broad physique. He looks more like a model than a secret special agent. I never thought that there could be such handsome members among the special agents. "How do I look? Are you satisfied?" I heard my "groom" ask me. "You look great. I'm very satisfied," I replied to him absentmindedly. Even his voice sounded good to me. "If you're done satisfying yourself with my looks then let's proceed with the ceremony," he said to me irritably. My mind suddenly returned to its right senses when I heard that seemingly angry voice of the man. I wanted to chastise myself because I lost focus. That's probably why my "groom" seems angry with me. But I am serious about my work and this is the first time this has happened to me. The man might think I'm an irresponsible secret agent. This could ruin my good name if he reports me to my boss. The wedding started and ended, but I did not see my target exchange attaché cases. Or maybe I just didn't see them because I was turned away. But regardless of what happens, my colleagues inside the church should act. But since they haven't acted yet, it means there hasn't been an exchange of attaché cases. "I now pronounce you husband and wife. The wedding ceremony is almost complete. You may kiss the bride now," the priest said with a smile. I faced my "groom" and sent him a message through my eyes. I told him he could kiss me on the cheek. But the man just raised his eyebrow, then pulled my head and kissed me firmly on the lips. I felt like the world stopped spinning and only his soft lips were moving. I couldn't feel the people around us, and I couldn't even hear the loud applause. It was as if I were in space, and it was just the two of us there. Weird, but that's really how I felt. "That's it. The ceremony is complete. From now on, you are my wife," the man said to me as he released my lips. I still felt out of it even after he let go of my lips. And because my mind was still floating, I didn't realize that I wrote my real name on the marriage certificate that the priest had us sign. It was too late when I realized it, and I couldn't take it back anymore. I thought that the marriage certificate was fake anyway, so it was okay even if I wrote my real name. "Stop the wedding! That woman is an impostor!" All of us, as if we were one person, looked at the woman who entered the church wearing a wedding gown. "I am the real bride of Mr. Axel Brixton and not that woman!" she shouted again. The man I married, whose name turned out to be Axel Brixton, furrowed his brow and confusion was evident on his face. I didn't notice his name when I signed the marriage certificate because my mind was still adrift earlier. But he wasn't the only one confused, I was too. My boss didn't mention that there would be such a scene in our fake wedding. "What's going on, lady?" Axel asked me in a dangerous voice. My mouth opened to speak but was interrupted when I heard the angry voice of my boss through the earpiece in my ear. "Where the hell are you, Agent Blue? The wedding entrapment failed because you didn't come!" I felt like I was bitten by a snake when I heard what my boss said. I didn't show up at our wedding entrapment for the two drug lords? Does that mean I went to the wrong church and wedding? The wedding ceremony that happened was real and not fake! I got married for real?
