Chapter 2

Katherine All the attendees at the wedding ceremony were asked to leave by Axel. Even though they were confused, they had no choice but to follow the man's wishes. The only ones left inside the church were me, Axel, the priest, and the woman claiming to be Axel's real bride. "How dare you snatch my husband, b***h!" the woman angrily confronted me when it was just the four of us inside the church. "I'm sorry. It was just a misunderstanding," I apologized to them awkwardly. I let it pass when Axel's real bride called me a "b***h" because I understood how she felt. She felt like I took her husband away, which is why she was so angry with me. "Who are you? Explain yourself, lady," Axel said to me with a sharp look. "My name is Katherine Harret. And I'm sorry, Mr. Brixton. Everything was just a misunderstanding. Though I can't tell you the reason why it was a misunderstanding, but believe me. I have no intention of snatching you from your bride," I explained to Axel. I can't tell them that I'm a secret agent and I went to the wrong wedding ceremony. Not only will I look ridiculous in the eyes of many, but our entire department as well. What happened was extremely embarrassing. Jerry, my colleague who gave me the information and location of the fake wedding, needs to explain this to me. "You didn't intend to steal my groom? Who would believe you, b***h? You're a liar! Your mouth deserves to bleed!" exclaimed the real bride furiously. She raised her hand and was about to slap me but Axel quickly stopped her before her palm could land on my face. Actually, if Axel hadn't stopped the woman from her plan to slap me, I would have stopped her myself. Even if it's said that there's a mistake on my side, I won't allow anyone to hurt me. I'm tired of being hurt by people. I'm done with the role of always being oppressed. "Calm down, Ms. Erika Forester. The problem won't be solved if you become violent," Axel firmly admonished the woman. Although she was restrained, her sharp gaze at me was almost wounding. "Let's get a divorce now," Axel said to me in a tone as if he were testing whether I would agree or not to divorce him. "It's fine with me," I replied with my head held high. Axel probably thought I would be clingy towards him. Whether he believes me or not, I don't care. What's important is that we can get divorced and I can regain my freedom. "I'm sorry, Mr. Brixton. Although your marriage is not yet registered with the Civil Registrar, it is still legal because you are registered in the church. If you want to annul your church marriage, you need to wait for a month before that can happen," explained the priest who married us. "What? That's not possible! The marriage between Axel and that impostor should be annulled immediately," Erika strongly objected. I glanced at Axel's face to see his reaction to what the priest said. He has a blank expression. I can't read what he's thinking. "Is there no other way to annul our marriage immediately, Father?" I asked the priest, but he just shook his head before saying goodbye. The priest allowed us to resolve our problem without involving the church's name. "What are we going to do now, Axel? Don't tell me you're going to follow what the priest said? I don't want to be your second wife or be your mistress!" Frustration was evident on Erika's face when she asked Axel. Axel calmly faced his real bride. "Maybe it's fate, Ms. Forester. You're not fated to be my wife. And since Katherine is already my wife, she will become my wife from now on." "What? No way!!!" Erika and I reacted at the same time. For sure, the woman in front of me will hate me forever for taking her place as her fiancé's bride. "It can't be, Axel. I was the woman your parents arranged a marriage for you and not that woman. You don't even know her or what her true character is. Who knows she and that priest arranged everything to catch you," Erika angrily objected to what Axel said. My eyebrow raised at what I heard. So it was just an arranged marriage. That's why I couldn't see any feelings or affection on Axel's face for Erika. Maybe this was the first time the two would meet, so when I entered the church as Axel's bride, he didn't object to marrying me. Because he hasn't seen the face of the woman he will marry yet. And like me, maybe he also didn't notice that a different name was written as his bride when he signed the marriage certificate. "I don't want to repeat myself, Ms. Forester. Since Katherine and I are already married, you no longer have a chance to become Mrs. Brixton. You can leave us now," Axel said authoritatively to Erika. Erika faced me with glaring eyes and threatened, "Just wait for my revenge, Katherine. I will not forgive what you did to me!" I just blinked repeatedly while watching the back of Axel's real bride while marching out of the church. Erika is very angry with me. I need to be alert for whatever way she might retaliate against me. I took a deep breath and faced Axel. "Look, Mr. Brixton. I'm sorry that I ruined your wedding and—" "It's Axel, Katherine. From now on, just call me, Axel." "Okay, Axel. Everything that happened was just a misunderstanding. Let's separate nicely and come back here after a month to annul our marriage." This is the only way I thought of to solve the problem. It seems he doesn't want to marry Erika, so I'll just think that I did a good deed for him. I helped him avoid being tied to a marriage he didn't want. "You don't get me, Katherine. Since I sent away my real bride and you are already married to me, from now on, you are my real bride. Whether you like it or not," Axel said in a final tone. My lips parted and I couldn't believe what I heard. No! It can't be! I must find a way to convince him to annul our marriage after a month.
