***Trigger warning:  Attempted s****l assault*** ----Evermoon---- ***Sophia's POV*** Suddenly, I heard footsteps and the sounds of twigs snapping coming closer.  My pulse raced as my eyes darted around for a place to hide.  Being out in the clearing, I had nowhere to go as two men came into the clearing. “Little fox, are you lost?  We could help you out.”  The first man grinned and the second man had a shimmer of something metallic in his hand. “Of course, you’ll need to pay us.  We don’t work for free.”  The second man smirked as he raised his switchblade up. Gasping, I tried to take small steps back to make a run for it.  These men had evil glints in their eyes and I knew exactly what they were after.  Reaching down, I realized that the thud I heard earlier when I fled was my pouch that held a dagger.  Silently, I cursed myself for not being more careful. There I stood, weaponless and helpless as the two men closed the distance between us. “Please don’t do this.  I have no money and I dropped my bag.”  I pleaded, tears welling up in my eyes. “Little fox, we don’t need your money.  You can just pay us with your body.”  The first man growled lustfully. Suddenly, the second man seemed to vanish and reappear behind me with the switchblade to my throat.  Whimpering, the tears finally fell down my cheeks and my body trembled. “I love when they whimper and beg for us not to do this, Ryan.”  The man with the switchblade mused. “You always have too much fun with our prey, Don.”  Ryan rolled his eyes and moved forward, grabbing my blouse. “Please, please, don’t do this.”  I cried, silently praying to any higher being I could, squirming a little. Don wrapped his arm around my waist to keep me still and the blade nicked my neck.  Bright red blood dripped down my neck as I winced in pain. “Aww, look what you did, Don.  You cut our little vixen here.”  Ryan chuckled. I heard the rip of fabric as I felt a breeze from the top of my chest. Tears spilled out in rivers and Ryan’s hand moved from my top to my thigh, sliding slowly up my skirt.  I felt a huge gush of wind and a flash of black crossed my sight.  The disgusting warmth of Ryan’s hand left my thigh as I saw him pinned to a tree by a man with black hair. "It's not very gentlemanly of you to try to take advantage of an unarmed woman."  The newcomer said, his voice smooth yet holding an air of confidence. “Who the hell are you?”  Don screamed, holding me tighter. “You’ve got a helpless girl in your arms.  I’ll give you to the count of three to let her go and run away like dogs with your tails between your legs.”  The black hair man kept Ryan pinned to the tree by his throat and his voice boomed with authority. “f**k you.  We found her first and we’re going to have our fun with her.  We can easily kill some weakling like you.”  Don said cockily and Ryan spit in the man’s face. The man sighed and wiped the spit off of his face.  “I wish you hadn’t done that.”   The sickening crack of bone echoed through the forest as my eyes widened.  Afterwards, a loud slump rang in my ears and Ryan’s lifeless corpse hit the ground.  Don’s arm gripped me tighter as I whimpered. “Now, if you don’t want to end up like your friend, I’d suggest that you let her go.”  The man let go of the body and moved towards us. “I’ll slit her throat right now if you come any closer!”  Don’s voice trembled with fear as he stepped back with me. “Please, help me!”  I whispered, afraid that any misstep would cost me my life today. “Would you like to die today?”  The black-haired man gestured to Don.  “I’m happy to oblige if you don’t let the lady go.” The next seconds felt like an eternity before I was flung to the ground and Don started to run.  The newcomer easily caught up to him and kicked him hard enough to break his leg, watching Don fall. “You asshole!  I let her go!  You broke my leg!”  Don yelled as he immediately gripped his leg. “Yes, I did.  You aren’t leaving here alive.  Men who attack women and attempt to force themselves on innocents are worse than scum.  I’ll be doing the world a favor by getting rid of you.”  The man swiftly bent over and snapped Don’s neck. “There we go.”  He grinned, grabbing both of the bodies and throwing them down a nearby cliff. The man came towards me as I scampered back.   “Please don’t kill me too!”  I begged, fear deep in my eyes. The man blinked, looking confused as I noticed a scar over his right eye extending from his forehead to his cheek. “Why would I hurt you?”  Something flickered in his eyes as it seemed like he recognized something. “I don’t know!  You’re a stranger and I’m lost!”  I wailed as tears started to flow again. He knelt down, wiping the tears from my eyes, and draped his business suit jacket over me to cover up.  “Shh, shh.  It’s okay.  It’s okay now.  I won’t harm you.  I’d never harm you.  What is your name?” “Sophia.  Sophia Lockhearte.”  I stammered, my cheeks growing hot to his touch. “Sophia, that’s a beautiful name.  My name is Arsen.  Arsen Evermoon.” Something inside of me snapped at the name Evermoon again.  Fear paralyzed my body as I hastily scrambled up to my feet. “I, uh, thank you for saving me.  I… I need to go home.  I… I need to leave.”  I took a few cautious steps back as Arsen’s beautiful ruby red eyes quickly flashed with a hint of hurt at my fear. “Sophia, please.  I won’t hurt you.”  Arsen tried to reason.  “I’m not like my father.” “I… I’m sorry!”  Panic took over my body and movements as I ran away from him and into the forest. I had no idea where I was going but I followed the sun through the trees.  After what felt like an eternity, I finally found my tiny cottage in the woods and let myself in.  I locked the door as quickly as I could, sliding down the now closed front door and sighing. “Why does the name Evermoon cause so much fear and panic in me?  I don’t understand.”
