-----Alpha----- ***Arsen’s POV*** My family had come into town for the day to deal with business.  As the Alpha of the Evermoons, I had a few meetings later in the day.  My father, Philip, looked at me before he walked off to the first meeting.  I decided that he wouldn’t need me as it was typical banking and financial discussions. I peered over at my Beta, Will, and opened a mind link to him. “Join my father and make sure it doesn’t end up in a bloodbath.  I’m going to explore a little before my meeting.” Will bowed before he followed my father to the meeting,  I heard a groan from my father but he didn’t challenge me on it as I was now the Alpha of the pack. My father opened a mind link to me and I heard him growl.  “I don’t need to be babysat, Arsen.” I looked at my father and grinned before closing the mind link.  Strolling around, I noticed the beautiful and alluring smell of honeysuckles.  I looked around and my eyes rested upon a beautiful raven-haired woman speaking to another girl.  Stopping in my tracks, my wolf howled in my mind in agitation. “Mate, mate!  She’s our mate!”  My wolf pranced about in my mind as I bit my bottom lip.  At twenty-one, I thought I’d never find my mate and here she was, angelic and heavenly. “She’s breath-taking.  An absolutely perfect being.”  I mumbled in awe. I watched her body language change and tense up.  Her golden eyes widened in panic and she took off into the woods.  My wolf and I wanted to desperately erase whatever panicked her and bring her calm.  My feet seemed to move on their own as I started to run after her.  My senses followed her honeysuckle scent into the woods; I needed to find my future Luna. “Will!  Cancel my meetings or go to them in my stead.  I found her!”  I mind linked Will. “Found who?”  Will responded. “My mate!  Our Luna!  I found her.”   “Oh s**t, dude!  Go get her!  Or are you already with her?”  Will questioned. “She ran off into the woods.  Something spooked her, I think.”  Confusion was blatant in my voice. “Go get our Luna.  I’ll take care of the meetings.”  Will cut off our link. I could always count on Will.  He always had my back ever since we were children.  He had come from a long line of Betas, with his father being my father’s Beta.  I focused back on finding her, my golden-eyed goddess. The woods and brush whirled by me.  Her scent grew fainter as I thought I had lost her and the trail. “Please, please, don’t do this!”  I heard a female voice whimper and I dashed towards the voice. The scene before me made my blood boil.  My future Luna was being held by these sad, pathetic excuses of flesh.  Her terrified look and her tears running down her beautiful face.  My wolf growled loudly at the rip of fabric and I flew into action.  My eyes saw red as I made quick work of the two men. My heart broke as I knelt down next to the terrified woman.  I desperately wanted to take her fear and panic away but didn’t know how.  Seeing her cry felt like a jab into my heart, my fingertips gently stroking her cheek and wiping away her tears. She was so beautiful.  Everything inside me frantically tried to come up with ways to calm her down but my mind went blank.  It wasn’t like me to be speechless like this.  Her blush made my heart flutter as I couldn’t help but grin.  My wolf whimpered in confusion as it seemed like she didn’t react like another wolf that had found her mate.  She wasn’t calling me her mate or reacting to me like I was the most irresistible being in the world.  All that I saw from her was fear and it left me confused.  When Will found his mate, they were practically inseparable.   Was she not a wolf?  I decided to suppress my intense desires to call her my mate and whisk her away so as to not scare her further.  She had been through enough and if she truly wasn’t a wolf, I would just petrify her more.  I couldn’t do that to her. Instead, I asked her for her name and her honey sweet voice answered with ‘Sophia, Sophia Lockeheart.’  Everything about her was absolutely perfect. As I told her my name, the fear that I thought disappeared painted over her features once more and she scrambled to her feet.  She quickly tried to excuse herself after hearing my name.  Maybe she had heard the rumors about my family being murderous due to my father’s past.  I couldn’t make sense of it. Sophia raced away from me as I stood there in utter bewilderment.   “Follow her.” My wolf urged. “You don’t need to tell me twice, Onyx.”  I took off after her but kept my distance.  I didn’t want to frighten her but ensure that she got to her destination safely.  I followed at a safe distance to ensure she was okay.  Seeing her flee into her home, I let out a soft sigh of relief.  She was safe and that’s all I needed to know.  Leaving the home, I knew that I would see her again.  Usually, it was so easy for a fated pair.  We saw each other and it clicks, but she was different; this situation was different.   “I’ll win her heart the old fashioned way, eh, Onyx?”  I smiled and nodded. Onyx whined in agreement.
