***Lanie’s POV***
The next morning arrived and I decided to bring Sophia home. Getting dressed, I had told Mother everything that had happened while her expression clouded over. We knew what to do.
“I’m sorry, Sophia, but this is what’s best for you. You can’t know of this other world or find your true self or you’ll be killed.” I whispered out loud, feeling the intense amounts of regret flooding through my body.
Sighing, I went downstairs and nodded to my mother before leaving. The trip to the Evermoon mansion was short and uneventful before I came up to black iron gates and a guard outside.
“Who are you?” The guard gruffly said, eyeing me up and down with suspicion.
