Chapter 14

It was a long night. A really long one for me as I thought of what I did. It wasn't intentional, it was based on impulse when I slapped him as he tried to kiss me again. I was kidn*pped and the first kiss between us just happened. He wasn't meant to expect me to just warm up to him immediately, I was scared and terrified.

I couldn't reject him but I didn't want him touching me but I was surprised that his guards didn't barge in to take me to the dungeon or some cage to lock me up and punish me for touching the Alpha considering how he stormed out last night. Instead, a maid brought a night dress for me and helped me lay back in bed to sleep due to my ankle.

I sighed at my thoughts that had seemed to drag me from reality and sat up in my bed. It was morning already but I was still feeling a bit sleepy. I couldn't sleep as I thought of what I was going to face in Alpha Jett's hands for slapping him but then the bed got too soft and my night dress was really comfortable that I didn't know when I slept off, only to wake up this morning when the sun was already fully set and I could hear faint voices from outside my room already.

The whole building was awake and I was still asleep, I had to be nuts. I tried coming down from my bed but the pain that shot up my leg from my ankle reminded me that I was injured and I muffled my scream from the sudden pain as I slowly tried to sit back in bed and wait for help… hopefully someone was going to come to help.

Only a few minutes passed when I heard a light knocking on the door and it slightly opened to reveal a maid coming in with a crutch and a smile stuck on her face. I could tell she was a maid due to the uniform. A lot of maids had attended to me in such a short time since I got to Altra pack so it was easy to know they were all maids considering they all wore the same thing.

"Good morning Miss Eleanor, I'm here to help you prepare for breakfast today. I have a crutch here for you to be able to go into the bathroom. I'll set a dress for you before you're out" she explained to me and bowed, the smile still stuck on her face.

I was motionless at first because it was a first for me, having a maid attend to me immediately I woke up in the morning. I was the one that used to attend to people as a maid before, at that moment, I realized that it was actually possible for someone's life to change over the night. I always doubted the saying and thought It was impossible but here I was, living it.

I smiled back at the maid as she rose up from the bow and handed the crutch to me "good morning to you too" I told her and she grinned shyly "I'm Eleanor and you are?" I introduced myself hoping to ease the tension in the air and reduce the nervousness that was quite obvious in her "my name is Sarah Miss Eleanor" she said in her soft and innocent voice and I smiled at her again "nice to meet you Sarah" I said and shook her hand and her eyes grew wide. I was sure she didn't expect it, it wasn't everyday a person occupying a room in the Alpha's headquarters randomly shook a maid's hand. I just wanted her to be comfortable with me that morning as she was helping me get ready for the day. I sighed exasperated. Sarah arched a brow so I smiled at her to reassure her that it was okay and I could feel her tense body slowly relax. She smiled back at me and helped me to the bathroom as I supported my weight with the crutch she brought for me. The bathroom was just as elegant as the bedroom. The tiles sparkled and the bathtub beckoned on me as I stepped into the bathroom. I mentally smiled to myself as I gingerly grabbed the new toothbrush that was placed on the sink and began to brush my teeth then I took my time to have my bath and came out of the bathroom.

Sarah had set a dress for me on the bed and was waiting for me beside the bed, she didn't sit throughout.

"Thank you" I told her once I saw she had set all that I needed to wear on the bed and she nodded at me, fulfillment in her eyes. I checked the dress and it was a knee length sundress and I loved it already. I was excited to put it on but I wasn't still comfortable with dressing in front of someone else so I turned to her "sorry could you excuse me please?" I told her and she understood immediately. She bowed once again before she exited the room with me having my privacy. I turned back to th dress on the bed and grinned as I took off my robe and wore my underwear and then finally the dress. I looked in the full length mirror that was placed against the wall and I couldn't help but love what I saw. I looked different but beautiful, I wasn't wearing the rag that Cora normally gave me at Paz pack.

I heard a knock on the door and I asked the person to come in without even thinking to check as I limped on one foot to get my crutch that was on the bed. I turned around and saw Alpha Jett and he was staring at me like he wanted to form holes in my body. "Good morning" I said shyly and I remembered our kiss and the hit I gave him last night.

"Good morning" he said and kept staring at me from head to toe and then my toe back to my eyes "You look beautiful Eleanor" he said as his eyes showed how sincere he was and my name rolled off his tongue like honey that I wanted to hear him call it again, he wasn't mocking me. I smiled and bent my head to avoid his gaze. "Thank you Alpha Jett" I said and he came close to me, placed a finger under my chin and raised my head to meet his eyes. "it's Jett, there's no need for formality" he said and bent to carry me. I quickly took a few steps back with the help of my crutch and I was sure the surprise was on my face "um what are you doing?" I asked him and he shrugged "carrying you to the dining cause of your leg" he explained and I shook my head "there's no need for that, I can handle it" I told and he just stared at me for a while and shook his head.

He came really close to me and took the crutch from under my arm then threw it in the opposite direction of the room, making me lose my balance. He quickly caught me and carried me bridal style while I just stared at him "I almost fell" I whispered and he smirked "but then I caught you. I had it under control sweetheart" he said and left the room with me still in his arms as he walked down the stairs. "Put me down" I pleaded but he just smiled the more and shook his head "no" he replied and I groaned "and quit trying to make me put you down, I won't" he told me.

I noticed that everyone that passed us were starting with surprised or shocked looks on their faces "oh God this is embarrassing" I said to myself and buried my face in his chest so they wouldn't see my face. Jett laughed and I felt his chest vibrate against my face which meant I could the muscles on his broad move and damn! This man was sculpted perfectly, I was almost tempted to place my hand on his chest and feel him to my satisfaction.

Suddenly he stopped moving and I pulled my face from his chest to see that we were in the dining room but we were not alone. There was a lady with a hard gaze fixed on me and it scared me. There was the guy that saved me in the Paz pack days ago and someone else, a man that I didn't recognize. Jett dropped me gently and sat me down on a chair that he pulled from the table, I was opposite the lady that still had the hard gaze like she was scrutinizing me and I felt really uncomfortable and speechless. I didn't know if I should speak to them or just remain silent.

Meet my subordinates, meet Gavin my Beta, Zayn my Gamma and Scarlett my Zeta. Jett introduced them to me and I smiled nervously at them "guys meet my mate, Eleanor" Jett introduced me to them and Gavin smiled at me as he dropped a dish on the table "nice to meet you Eleanor, hope we get along" he said and I just smiled again. He laughed and placed a hand on my shoulder "there's no need to be tense, in no time, we'll be friends" he added and I just nodded. Scarlett finally smiled at me and took my hand "welcome to Altra pack Eleanor" she said briefly and began to serve herself as Zayn dropped the last dish and sat beside me while Jett was at my other side serving breakfast for both of us as I just watched him helplessly. The last time someone did that for me was when my parents were still alive and receiving this same kind of treatment made me feel special. Blending in with Zayn was easier because he was a friend….

"Thank you" I told Jett once he was done serving us and I began to eat while I noticed everyone's eyes on us as they stared in silence. Zayn whistled and Gavin laughed while Scarlet just ate. She didn't seem like a fun person. Jett laughed too and the atmosphere felt different from the one in Paz pack.
