Chapter 17

1768 Words
Becca's POV I woke up the next morning to the sound of my alarm as I had to go to work early that morning. Playtime was over and I had to make sure I actually got a cure for the pandemic because we have been able to devise a temporary cute which would only be effective for two weeks there about but during that two weeks the patient would live normally like a noninfected person but after the two weeks the sign if the virus continues to show it effects again. As I stood up lazily from the bed, I immediately went Into the shower to have my bath but I was as quiet as possible so I wouldn't end up waking Kade because he was sound asleep and I didn't want to disturb him. If he saw me going he might start crying saying he didn't want me to go. My plan is to sneak off to work and the maids will bathe him and then drop him off with his dad who will spend the whole day with him. Dad had enough money and besides he was already an Alpha so he hardly went to work although he had his own company but still he only went ahead to work to supervise administrative courses and nothing more. So I felt relaxed because apparently Kade would be safer and more comfortable spending the day with his father. After successfully taking my shower I slipped into a short body-shaped gown. I didn't want to dress too formally because I wouldn't be comfortable but I wanted to dress simple and classy at the same time. I didn't want to dress like a lost course all in the name of work. Soon I was down dressing as I stared at Kade who was sound asleep because he had quite a fill last night. It was normal if he was so tired the next morning. I gave him a slight peck on his cheek and left the room. As I made my way to the staircase I paused and stared at the door to Dax's room and decided to at least say hi before I left. That was if he wasn't sound asleep also because yesterday was such a long day. I wouldn't be back till night and I would love to give certain instructions about Kade because he was such a stubborn child but most of all I wanted to see him before I left. As I arrived at this door I hesitated again but I soon turned the doorknob and peeked in. He was still far asleep and he snored so gently as I could see his chest move up and down to the movement of his body. You look so tired and pale, as I remember the scar on his chest the night before and the story told me about it. I wanted to move closer to him to tap him, probably to wake him up but I considered my decision and thought maybe it wasn't necessary for me to talk to him this morning. After pondering for a while and not getting a suitable solution I decided to just leave for work as I was already getting late. As soon as I turned back I had his voice from behind "Were you planning on leaving without waking me up?" I heard a low voice still on the bed. I slowly turned back and stared at his face and I could see that he was still sleepy. "You were still sleeping and I did not want to bother to wake you up. I don't really have anything important to say. I just wanted to say hi and tell you about some things about Kade but I think you're going to figure it out." I said and held the door knob about to turn it and leave the room. "But you still haven't told me good morning "He said in a somewhat cunning voice but I didn't have time for his games. "Good morning."I said plainly and left the room. He was going to take good care of Kade. I had already seen it ever since yesterday when I treated him to dinner. He was actually going to be a good father, which was something someone wouldn't believe because of his cold and unfriendly appearance. One could never imagine that you could be calm and caring on the inside just like the coconut. Finally assured that everything was already okay I decided it was time to leave for work in my car. I had a very long day ahead of me. As I was in the car I kept on thinking about the whole pandemic and virus outbreak. I was working on solving the problem because it is actually affecting my mum and I wanted to get her out of this problem as soon as possible. It was far better than she was under my care at the hospital where I can take proper care of her and she will be the part of the first people that will actually get to use the cure if I found one on time. I picked up my phone and started doing some research on the center mid-production agency of the country, most especially the community. I made my opinions and suggestions clear to the whole board of doctors and especially to the owner of the hospital because I surely don't think this is a normal pandemic and I believe it is truly something to eat because the mode of transmission is not that accessible. Come to think of it, this virus doesn't affect children from the range of 1 year to 10 years. It only starts to develop from teenagers to adults and also old people and all people between the age of 80_90 don't seem to get affected. This could be a very relatable explanation for the fact that they don't eat preserved meat. I don't see this particular outbreak the way the doctors do, I see it as something very critical that needs to be accessed immediately which I am suggesting I need to bring out the option of shutting down all meat-preserving facilities from now henceforth, that is until we are certain that there is nothing in the qualities of meat that can actually cause damage to the human system. The drive from the mansion to the hospital was actually quite far. It was about a 2 hour journey which was why I decided to leave home a little bit early because I didn't want to give a bad impression on my first day. After about 30 minutes of the journey, there was a little bit of traffic so I had to rest my head on the window but after some boring minutes of waiting for the traffic was finally cleared and I drove off I was ready exhausted by the way. Soon the sun was setting paving way for another bright morning as I could see the road properly because everywhere was already bright. In a few minutes, I arrived at the hospital. I took my bag from the other passenger seat and locked my car and after confirming it was actually locked I went further into the hospital. Considering the time one would think that the hospital was going to be quiet and all for it being the center hospital which means the most equipped hospital in the community and considering the pandemic that was going on right now the hospital was so crowded and many doctors were already on sit before my arrival. I went directly into my office which was actually like a staff office combining four doctors, Mrs Kate, Mr Jackson, Lionel and me. As I arrived at the staffroom only missing skate was present and the others who hadn't arrived. I found her testing the saliva of an infected patient trying to find out the last meals the person consumed if it was relatable to my research during the last meeting. I was glad my idea was actually considered and we're planning to use it in case he was going to give us any positive information. Some doctors found it very outrageous for me to try to act like I was superior or since I was a new member to the hospital but I didn't care about what they thought. "Good morning Becca it's nice to see that you are actually punctual to your duties." Kate said with a broad smile on her face as I went over to the desk to see what she was actually working on. "Any positive improvements?"I questioned on reaching the lab table. "not yet but according to what I found I haven't quite confirmed. I think the person to put in either fish or meat, which brings me to a partial conclusion that you are there may actually be meaningful after all." she said with an encouraging small smile at the corner of her lips. "That's a very good start, please keep this up. I believe my suggestions actually have more to add to the current problem, in a positive way that is." I said I worked over to my desk to place my bag down before getting to work. I opened my laptop and saw that the secretary had produced the necessary reports I needed about the meat preservation companies available. I went down through their file and preservation method as well as their preservatives ingredients to be sure I left no stone unturned. But still there wasn't anything suspicious there so I changed over to another meat preserving facility. This wasn't meant to be my job but that of a police but I wanted to give this a try myself. What mattered to me was that I sort the problem out and get my mum cured and probably go back. That was a discussion I haven't really pondered about. Was I actually going to go back after curing the virus? Was this actually how it was going to end after I was done with my purpose here? I actually go back? Because thinking of it I wouldn't have come here if my mum hadn't called me for the urgent virus outbreak to see if I could do something about it. I actually never had it in any of my plans to come over, to come back home. Was that the only reason I came back? Now that I found out that Kade's father was still here and was an Alpha and things were actually going well, would I ro back after all this pandemic stress?
