Becca's POV
I had many things on my mind as I asked myself questions with no definite answer. I didn't know what my plans were after all this because it felt so comfortable here and it felt really good to be back home. I met Dax and I also got a chance to meet Shawn back and things were better now and I felt like I had finally eased myself on the burden I had kept on my mind since all these times. Right now I didn't want to go but I just didn't know and I wouldn't want to separate Kade from his dad because they just met but I am not just sure if I want to spend my life here. Here I had so many memories I was still trying so hard to forget and I knew it wasn't going to be easy. I didn't want to see those things that would remind me about Shawn and we didn't end up together.
I couldn't even get our last meeting out of my head as it felt good to see him after six good years. His scent still lived freely in my mind and everything about him just made me smile.
But he never mentioned anything about his mate and I wonder why because before I left I remembered her being a fellow cat and him being so adored by her beauty but surprisingly he didn't say anything about her during our meeting.
I didn't even think about that until now because what was on my mind was just about him and how I have really missed him and his face, every other thing was not necessary.
Truth be told I actually didn't understand what was wrong but I believed talking to him would actually help me get rid of all anger but I actually and genuinely needed him in my life because he was a really good friend.
I wonder why I wasn't able to get rid of him after all these years. I kept on telling myself it was okay and that I should just let the past remain the past but I was just lying to myself.
Coming back here just reminded me that I wasn't ready for anything I actually thought I was. I was just lying to myself to make myself happy and fulfilled when I know it was a big lie.
Although I had come to the reality that didn't wouldn't quite work out between me and Shawn and maybe that was what destiny had installed for us.
But I find it very difficult to be able to forget everything we have gone through, the outings, cuddles, smells, the joy and happiness, and everything that we shared back then but then it really hurts to know it ended.
I just think I needed more time with him, to be friends with him, and to see that everything was okay like it was, just without us being lovers.
It was going to be a little more difficult than I thought it was going to be. I was really looking forward to knowing Dax more and trying to make sure we were always on good terms because I wouldn't want my actions to affect him in any way.
Dax wasn't really what I thought he was, surprisingly we were kind and sweet and everything just felt right with him around and I just felt really comfortable around him now and it felt like I had another different version of Shawn. Surprisingly he was very understanding and not as cold as he was described to be. He's just hurt about his part and nothing more. he only needed someone to cheer him up and be there for him but I thought I could actually fill up that gap because I really didn't see it as anything tough to do.
I had actually promised myself that I would never get into an argument with him just for the sake of Kade. I am really trying to leave a good impression on him because he didn't leave with his father all these while I didn't want it to be like he didn't have a good family or something like that. If I was going to do anything or take any decision I always made sure it was going to favor Kade. I already spoke to the owner of the hospital that my Saturdays and Sundays would be mainly for my family and nobody else.
Whether it was going to work or not I wasn't even certain but I really prayed and hoped it did.
That was the only thing I could come up with for now because I actually didn't want to slack with this.
I was actually grateful because if not for Kade I would have given up on so many things.
I was not thinking about the future for now. What mattered now was how good the present was for me.
I was Jolted back to reality by frequent taps from Lina the blood sampler.
She was very friendly and had always volunteered to help me around the hospital and also to get familiar with the doctors and some patients. She was very slim but at the same time very beautiful and delicate. Her delicate body gave her a natural figure that would make people go jealous and men drool especially. She had long black hair that the curls would bounce on her back.
She looked so beautiful, especially with her dimple-flavored cheeks. She was a real epitome of beauty and her character even made her more beautiful.
I was so taken away by her beauty because she was very attractive. I doubt anyone would resist her charm, what u actually liked about her was her attitude, she lived life as it came and she was available to help and she never asked for anything in return. People like her are really rare to find.
"What exactly are you thinking about that as you are far away from your soul?" She said with her signature smile on her face which made me blush a little, goodness knows why.
"Nothing serious. I'm just trying to remember something, you know everyone has one or two problems." I replied, closing my laptop to focus on her.
"You need to learn to stop thinking this much. You are a doctor, you should know that this doesn't help in any way. Whatever the problem might be thinking would cause more damage to it. You should be the one saying this
" She said with her normal smile, bringing Aura.
"Okay, ma'am I promise you I would think less of what makes you happy?" I asked to get up from my desk as it was already lunch break and she had volunteered to eat with me every day so we can get to know ourselves more but I doubt if there was actually anything to know about me. It was just me.
"Let's have lunch.." she said and dragged me out of the office.
As we walked through the hallway she kept introducing me to all the doctors and I was so relieved when we got to the cafeteria. Unlike every other cafeteria, this was actually top notch and its services were actually quite impressive. The hospital did quite a good job because there was a patient and visitors cafeteria but different from that of the staff and everyone sat down according to their various departments.
She insisted on taking a new table as we sat down to eat. She didn't quite do more of the eating but more of the talking.
She kept asking a lot of questions and complementing every single thing I answered with. She was very fun to be with but she could be quite a plate full.
"So tell me more about yourself." She said, taking a sip from her apple juice.
"There really isn't much to talk about me, I'm just me, my life is very simple and I have learned to deal with problems myself. I don't exactly share them with people, it's just the way I am." I said taking a bite of my sandwiches as I could notice the questioning look on her face.
"Nonsense with me around you're going to have to tell me everything because you are doing a bad job of solving your problems yourself. Learn to share and I'd say if you can't talk to someone you feel comfortable with then don't think about it at all because it's definitely not worth it. Nothing can be worth putting your health on the high side." She said with a somewhat serious look on her face.
"It's not really about you it's just me trusting people is not just my thing. I'm sorry but it's just not." I said in a tone of finality and she divulged. I wasn't being mean or anything but I just didn't like it and even if I would open up to someone it wasn't going to be that easy or fast so to say.
My life takes processing and I take my decision-making slowly. I don't really mean very slow but I'm not in haste to make any such decisions.
"Well have you gone to check on your mom? I checked up on her this morning and she was stable, the drugs are working but you and I are fully aware that it's not a permanent cure. Don't relent, I believe you are different. You would find a way to settle this." She asked not to be able to stay in such a quiet atmosphere.
"Not yet she was in for testing but right after lunch I will check up on her," I said dropping my sandwich back on my plate because I remembered my mom was on a sick bed and my diligence will be to decide if she will live or not.
It made me feel sad but also served as a motivation that even though I wasn't doing this for the benefit of anyone but at least my mom should be enough reason.
She was a doctor but even the doctor was infected now and she called me over for help. She actually thought I could do this.
It was going to be a lot on my side considering my family and all, especially. since I just met Day and surprisingly I wanted to spend as much time as I could with him. I wanted to be as close as I could be to him.
