Chapter 12

Becca's POV

Now that I had resolved things with Dax it would make things easier for the both of us and it felt good that he was also happy to take over and help me with Kade whenever I was at work.

He was going to make a very good father, just maybe a shy one but I think I liked him that way because he was more understanding than I thought he was going to be.

But I was still curious as I still had something on my mind, something I just can't seem to forget and get rid of.

Shawn.

Although a lot has happened throughout the whole time and I wasn't sure I was ready to see him again because he was the reason I went away years ago. He rejected me for someone else but he had the best thing that has happened to me in my whole life. Even though I of plans for the both of us because I still wanted things to work for us then I had a lot of plans but let's just say faith had another plan of its own because things didn't go how I wanted t I h with that pain through mothroughmy through

Although he must have also gone through a lot ever since he was overthrown by Alpha Dax and I wasn't even meant to want to see his face at all tually cared and I just wanted him to know I was doing fine ever since everything happened and I also want to see how good he is. It's been years and he wasn't just a good lover then he was my best friend and a very good friend at that one. I could trust him and it was hard for me to do for other people.

I still wanted to be friends with him that is if he ed was now In the past and the future was what mattered now so I wanted us to just forget about all that happened and never mention it till perhaps we are both comfortable with our present relationship then we would finally be able to go back to it and talk about how we have been able to cope during this time. I know it won't be as hard for him as it was for me because he had someone else to spend his time with but I didn't have anyone then I met Dax on a nightstand and then I had Kade. I would always be grateful for this because ever since I always had him to keep me company and he was a reason why I shouldn't give up on everything because of him I kept on struggling till I got to a reasonable stage.

A part of me didn't even want to see Shawn at all because I felt he gave up on me but a part of me has also been longing for his touch. I just wanted to see him if that was alright.

Andre was no one to lead him to me other than the maid I met weeks ago. She should be at the servant's Chamber at least she was the only one I trusted for now.

I was planning on going to my room but I went downstairs instead so I would be able to get all the information I needed as fast as possible because I have been told already about how Alpha Dax hates anything that had to do with Shawn so I couldn't take chances with that because I didn't want to see his bad side. All the things I have heard about his cold attitude were not ones to be told.

After walking for minutes I was soon out of the mansion and I started walking through the gardens till I found a guard around the corner I decided to ask him because I wasn't getting the route.

"Hey," I said, getting his attention.

"Ma'am." He said with a full bow which made me feel somehow because I didn't do stuff like this but I shrugged it off because I had something way more important on my mind.

"Please, where is the way to the maid's chamber?" I asked when I got his attention.

"It's at the back of the mansion ma'am here leads to the aze," Raisa said

"Follow me ma'am let me take you there myself." He said, leading me there. As soon as we arrived there it wasn't hard for me before I found her as she was part of the maids I saw outside giggling.

" Hey," I said trying to call her attention because I couldn't remember the name she told me that day.

She looked back and soon recognized me and I could see the surprised look on her face because none of the palace members ever went near the maid's chamber. They merely just required that they come to their rooms but since I didn't know her name I wanted to make sure I saw her face-to-face.

She came immediately and made a slight bow.

"What do you want ma'am, you could have called me to your room I would have come." She said in a very accommodating voice. That was why she was the one I could trust.

"I forgot your name, funny story but it's no problem though I had nothing to do so I decided to come over here myself," I said giving a light smile to the guard indicating his service was no longer needed and he made a bow and left.

"So what do you need from me, ma'am."

"It's about Shawn," I said simply and started walking around the premises and she followed suit. I didn't want any of her nosy mates to know what we were talking about because I was already getting envious of her. Desperate does anything.

"What about him?" She asked.

"I want to go visit him wherever he is, I want to be sure he is alright, hale, and healthy," I said, turning over. " I told you last about the new Alpha's requirements and part of it is that he doesn't want anyone to have anything to do with Shawn again. He sees him as a threat to his throne and we all know the stand you take in his life. We are the maids, we know everything. I'm telling you ma'am he would be very furious at you and you won't like the outcome of it."

"I know you have said all of these before…" I tried to speak but she interrupted me again.

"And I would continue to say it, you can't go to meet him. It's very dangerous and if you are caught the Alpha would know that someone probably told you and this would be traced back to me and I don't want anything like that to happen. Please ma'am don't go there." She said bowed and turned to leave but I called her back.

"Have you ever lost a friend?" I found myself asking out as she turned to leave

"Yes, I have." She turned back and bowed again before listening to what I had to say.

"Please stop it with the bowing. I don't like it. Just simple greetings would be okay." If the maid heard me, she did nothing to show for it. I knew I was beginning to sound sick but I couldn't help it. There was this deep craving for Shawn and until I met him, I'm sure it won't go away.

And then it occurred to me that, a part of me wanted to meet with Shawn because I missed him but there was still a part that wanted to know what it would be like to be with him, again. Would it be as intense and endearing as before or had the loss of his former mate quenched the fire and sparks that I felt and saw when we used to be together? History is history until it repeats itself.

"I'd be glad if you could help me meet with him and I promise there shall be a reward" The maid's head lifted up and her eyelids fluttered a fraction more than necessary to see my eyes. I nodded and smiled when our irises met and I knew that instant that I had just bought myself a deal. "Tell me what you want and be rest assured to have it granted unless it has anything to do with killing or stealing. Is it money?"

"Nope," she said, popping the p. "However, it is money equivalent but since I don't have the leisure of going out or getting stuff for me, you'd do me the honors, right?"

"Just say the word" I prompted.

"Well, there was this two-piece lady's attire I saw on the internet some night ago, a bag and heels too. I'd want those because I've been refusing to go out on a date with a guy I supposedly have a thing for. He is one of the guards…. If you could get me those and make me and him meet outside, without anyone finding out, then I'd be the mediator between you and Shawn for as long as you want."

How quickly for her to grow wings? One time she was bowing after every sentence and now she was looking straight into my eyes.

"As long as you don't tell anyone I got you out, then we are good," I replied.

"I've been told to not bite the hands that feed me" she mumbled before straightening, turning to look either way to ensure no one was near. "I'd clear the path in a few minutes and then get back to you. You make sure Alpha Dax doesn't come out to that location for now"

"Okay," one final bow and the maid took her to leave. 'What trick would I use to pull Alpha Dax away?' I was on the stairs walking down to the living room when an idea of how to steer Alpha Dax away popped into my head.

"Okay, let's go do this" I whispered to my hearing before walking down the remaining steps on the stairs but halted on my step when I took in the scene before me.
