Unexpected

Al took off to his buddy Liam’s house immediately after dinner. The s****l tension between his parents was tangible and disgusting so he had to leave. Wolves are not shy about s*x or naked bodies, but Al could not think about his parents having s*x. That crossed too many lines for him. Just as Al reached Liam’s door, it flung open and Liam stepped out nearly knocking into Al. “Woah bud, what’s the rush?” Al joked as he pushed Liam back a little. Liam looked at Al. “Oh sorry, didn’t see you there. Just trying to get out of here!” Liam said as he looked back making sure the door closed behind him. Al looked at the door and stepped back then looked at Liam. “What’s going on?” “I can’t, I can’t … ewww.” Liam shook his head and hugged himself and shuddered. Al was confused. “What?” Liam looked at Al with wide crazy looking eyes. “They’re going at it, and I don’t want to hear it or think about it or say it.” It took Al a second to register. Al’s eyes bugged. “Eww. I just left that myself. Let’s get Don and head to the river.” Al suggested. Liam nodded and the boys took off to Donovan’s house. Thankfully, each of the boys lived close together because the council members thought it would be best if the Alpha had his Beta close by. Liam’s dad was Declan’s Beta, his number 2 guy. Donovan’s mother was the pack healer. Al, Liam, and Don have been friends since each of them were pups. Each of the boys had a role in the pack’s future. As Al and Liam crossed the road, Al noticed the street was awfully quiet. The houses were all dark and there was this eerie feeling hanging around them. Liam smacked Al’s arm. “Is that Don?” They saw a figure walking towards them but with only half the lights working, they only saw a shadow. “Don?” Al shouted out. “Yeah? Who’s that?” the voice shouted back. “It’s us, dumbass.” Liam retorted. The boys caught up with Donovan. There was only a slight difference in height between the three of them. Where Al and Liam stood at 6’3, Don only stood at 6’. “What are you doing roaming the streets this late at night young man?” Liam joked with Don. Don looked at Liam and shoved his arm. “I should ask you hoodlums the same thing.” AL chuckled. “Well, we had to get out of our houses, if you know what I’m saying.” Don nodded his head. “Yeah, I get it. Me too.” Don shook his head and looked back towards his house. “We’re headed to the river.” Liam let Don know and the three of them started walking towards the riverbank. Once the boys got to the edge of the woods, each hid behind a tree and stripped. It wasn’t as if they were self-conscious, it was if they changed, and a human happened to see then it would be hell for them all. Shifting didn’t hurt as bad as it looked. Al felt his bones snap and bend into a different place. He let out a breath and shook his body. His wolf stood tall and high, his white and black fur shimmered in the moonlight. Al bent down and gathered the clothes he piled up between his teeth. He could sense Liam and Don’s wolves as they shifted. Al’s wolf, Shadow was anxious to get to the river. Last wolf to the river walks naked through the streets tomorrow morning. Shadow was fond of challenges and thought this one would get him some entertainment. He heard the howls in agreement. It was all Shadow needed to take off. Al let Shadow take over, occasionally catching the scent of a rabbit or a deer. He knew the other wolves were behind him, they weren’t as fast as he was. Shadow raced through the woods, swerving and dodging trees. He had a fun thought to run around behind the guys and try to scare them. Al chuckled as he could imagine them getting freaked out. Al and Shadow were almost in agreeance when something caught Shadow’s attention. The wolf slowed down as he reached the riverbed and there was the blinding white light just above the river. Shadow went on alert but didn’t sense any presence. How far back are the two of you? Shadow sent out to Rip, Liam’s wolf, and Apollo, Don’s wolf. Just outside the tree lines. Not fair that you’ve got Alpha blood and are faster. Apollo grumbled. There’s something going on at the river. Blinding white light above the water. Shadow reported. What is it? Is there danger? I can’t sense anything. Rip was throwing questions a mile a minute. Shadow understood where Rip was coming from. Rip was of Beta and had the instinct to protect the Alpha. Shadow was about to report when the light started to fade away into a condensed form. Where the entire river was a blinding white light now floated a woman bathed in the same glow. Shadow sat on the grass and just waited. He could not sense evil with this being, instead all he felt was love and happiness. The figure started coming closer to Shadow. Shadow stood up and walked closer to the edge of the water. They both stopped at the same moment. Shadow could still hear Apollo and Rip calling for him and asking what was going on. The woman smiled and lifted her hands as if to say to answer them. Guys, I’m here. I am staring at a woman who is floating on the water and is covered in a white glow. I feel safe with her. That is crazy! Shadow, get out of there! Do not engage! I repeat do not engage! Shadow shook his head as if to clear the thoughts and looked back at the woman. She smiled again. Hello Shadow. It is nice to meet you.
